Need RPG recommendation.
I have played Knights of the Old Republic, Sith Lords, and Final Fantasy X. I really want to play another fun role playing game similar to those. Any ideas? I have a laptop... windows 7.

Well, there's always the Elder Scrolls games, I'd recommend Skyrim or Oblivion. Or perhaps the Fallout games. Assassin's Creed, any of them really, they're all fun games. The Fable games are a lot of fun as well!! It's kinda hard to suggest for people without very much to go on.. haha, but I tried!! XD

Lol, I love action and getting to fight without having to aim to carefully. I also like fantasy. I enjoy a good story line. My brother has Oblivion and I had enjoyed playing it. Pity he lives so far away. I've played Assassin's Creed and loved it too. Again, pity my brother lives so far away. He has a PS3.

The Elder Scrolls series is great. You'll get a lot of recommendations for those!
What consoles do you have besides PC? I HIGHLY recommend Dragon Quest VIII for PS2, or Dragon Quest IX for the DS. That series is just... amazing. Great characters, great voice acting, long storyline and plot and lots to explore. Brilliant. If you liked FFX, you might like FFX-2 or the other Final Fantasy games. Portal and Portal 2 are RPGs of a sort. Don't let people talk you into thinking it's an FPS; it's not! It's more puzzle than anything else, but the story and humor are great. Dragon Age and Dragon Age II are hard to beat if you don't mind a little blood. Great romances, too. C: Same goes for Mass Effect, if you like a more sci-fi theme. |
hmmm... might go for Dragon Age. Elder Scrolls seems fun too.
I don't have anything but this laptop. I'm okay with that for now. Overseas teaching English. I just want something to do in my spare time. Someday though, I plan to get a PS3. |
Dragon Age VIII was pretty awesome!! If you like old school stuff Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy IV are classics! If you go to Vimms Lair (google it) You can download the emulator and choose from 100's of old games.

Ok thanks!

Spiral Knights is a really cool free Action/RPG (think Zelda crossed with a tiny bit of Bomberman), if you don't mind being online with other people, or freemium crap like the energy system.
Also, try Battle For Wesnoth if you like SNES style strategy/RPGs. Complete freeware, and it's been around forever enough to have a large community and pile of addons. Battle for Wesnoth |
thanks!

Skyrim is awesome! Graphics are drool-worthy (if your computer meets the minimum specs to operate the game). Story is awesome!

will look into it :)

I second Skyrim. It's best played on the PC anyways though my copy is for the PS3. If you have Steam installed on your laptop, they offer a lot of good titles. Bastion is good and the graphics are beautiful.
If you like MMORPGs, then you could try DCUO. It's free to play and you get to be a superhero or villain. xD |
Oooh, I didn't even brush on MMOs.
WoW and DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online) are the two best I've ever found - for me. Nothing beats WoW's raiding system. It's the first, the biggest, and the best... it has an attention to detail and a community that's hard to beat. If you like puzzles and dynamic classes, DDO's for you. You don't have to stick to a static class - my cleric was two parts smashy-smashy, one part healer ! Many of its dungeons have puzzles that you have to solve as you go along, obstacle courses, and more... it's a far cry from the usual "go beat stuff up" questlines and dungeons of most MMOs. Guild Wars and the (soon to be released) Guild Wars 2 have drawn a huge crowd thanks to their one-time fee, beautiful graphics, and excellent co-op. If you like a pretty game with unique classes, you might want to look into it. EverQuest 2 boasts gameplay that just went free. It has a variety of starting areas that you can choose from, a cool twist so if you're leveling an alt, you don't always have to start in the same zone. It's from the same maker as Champions of Norrath (a great series for the playstation, by the way), and has some interesting classes and races... about five each in Good, Neutral, and Evil. League of Legends is a strategy-based game where you select from a variety of premade characters, each with their own strengths or weaknesses, and join a team of other champions to make your way through a turret and alien-laden course to defeat the other team. Praised for dynamic and original gameplay, and you don't need a great internet connection to play it successfully. Perfect World is a Korean MMO praised for some of the best graphics in the genre and some very unique races and features. I found the quests to be a bit static, however, and there are no dungeons. There's a rough breakdown of pretty much every MMO I've tried in the last three years that I thought had any good qualities whatsoever. I've played a heck of a lot more than that, but most of them were from, say, Nexon, so I left them out, because companies like Nexon suck. xP |
nice you have really given me great options!
