Laughing Eurus grinned at Valentina and sat back in the chair again. "I thought those might be some of the first books you'd pick out. If I were you I would have picked the same ones. Those two are very insightful. Also I'm here to answer any questions you may have." Seeing her blush his grin grew. Clasping his hands on his stomach he watched her out of the corner of his eye.
Primrose quickly made her way back to her house. Every once in a while she would glance over her shoulder to make sure no one was following her. Oren had left her uneasy and she was looking for anything. Riding over to her stable she got off right outside and walked her horse into her stall. After brushing her down and giving her water and food she grabbed the saddle bags and ran into the house. Going to the kitchen at the left end of the house she began to out things away. Once all the food items were put away Prim walked over to a box attached to one of the walls. Every single room in her house had one attached somewhere. It was one of her first inventions, an intercom system that allowed her to talk to anyone in any room. Pressing the infirmary button she called out Eururs name. When no one replied back she tried to library, knowing he would probably have taken Valentina there. Holding the button down she spoke into the box. "Eurus? Valentina? I'm back from town and I'm starting dinner right now. I'll bring it into the library when it's finished. No need to come to the kitchen, you two have fun. Oh and Valentina there's something I need to talk to you about when I get in there. Nothing big so don't fret. Bye!" Spinning around she began to start on dinner. |
Any questions? That left quite a lot open, and had Valentina blushing even more. She always wondered about something kind of personal about the supernatural community. "Are you like humans when it comes to finding your love, or is there just one person in the whole world for you, I mean your people?" The question had Valentina shifting around, blushing and hiding her face from time to time behind the books she still held. Strawberry blond hair falling around her face, the young woman looked like she'd just thought of something too sweet to handle.
Watching the young woman from across the street for a few moments, Oren debated upon what to do. Looking at his watch again, the sandy haired man let out another sigh. This day had been such a long one. There was no more time to waste. With that in mind, he moved forward to knock politely at the door and waited hat in hand for someone to come and answer. |
Pursing his lips Eurus thought hard about her question. He had to think about all the races before finally answering. "Well it depends on the race I guess. Like mine for example we're like humans because there aren't many of us. But say the Fae, they have one mate. If they don't find them they won't be as happy as they would if they did find them. Does that answer your question?" He wasn't sure if he had made a lot of sense. She had asked him a hard question.
The blonde had been busily working away at dinner when she heard someone knock. Frowning she grabbed a hand towel and started to walk back through the house at to the front door. Reaching up on her tip toes she peered through the peep hole and cursed silently. Wiping her hands she quickly ran into the infirmary room and over to the intercom. Pressing the library button she talked quickly. "Valentina a man named Oren is here. I ran into him in town and he asked about you. I didn't say you were here but he must have picked up on something and followed me. If you don't want to see him stay in the library, I'll take him into the kitchen. But if you wish to talk to him have Eurus buzz me back on the intercom and I'll bring him in there when I have dinner ready." Prim didn't wait for an answer but quickly walked back to the massive front door and opened it. "Hello Oren. I see you have found my home. Please come it." She stepped back and gestured for him to come in. "I'm in the middle of cooking dinner and I don't want it to burn. If you could follow me into the kitchen?" She turned around and stalked off back to her large kitchen. Prim was a little mad that he had followed her home. Now she was extremely interested in what he wanted with Valentina. He couldn't just want to apologize to her. |
For some reason, that disappointed Valentina. Placing the books on her lap, some of the enthusiasm fell away from her and her shoulders slumped though the young woman didn't notice. "So someone supernatural could never fall for a human?" She hadn't realized that she wanted a romance like that, with spice and a hint of the forbidden sweeping trough it all, but that's what it appeared to be like. Or perhaps she was already developing an innocent liking for the one who seemed like he was actually happy to be around her.
She only listened halfheartedly to Primrose's words. At the moment she cared less for a man that had wanted to help her, albeit for his profit, and more about the fact that she was developing feelings so soon for someone whose people she'd feared since she was thirteen. Nodding his head with a charming smile, he winked a purple eye at the woman. "It smells absolutely delicious. I do hope my intrusion doesn't bother you, I asked around town about where you live because I missed your delightful company already." This was the truth, albeit not all of it. Following her steps into the kitchen, Oren's eyes glittered with interest. Such a nice and beautiful place this was. |
Frowning Eurus watched Valentina with curiosity. She had just been happy a second ago but his words caused her to dim. Then he heard her question. Shaking his head he gave her a little smile. "Some supernatural races can't fall for humans but not all. The Fae, some of the elves and trolls. They can't fall for humans. But forest spirits like myself can fall for human, demon, anything. Demon's also can fall for whoever." He hoped that explanation would clear everything up for her.
Hearing Prim once more over the intercom he frowned again. Why was this Oren guy asking about Valentina? Eurus couldn't help but not like that. "Valentina do you want this man to know your here? Do you know him?" He asked quietly. For unknown reason's he couldn't help feel a small spark of jealousy. Once she was in the kitchen she returned his smile with one of her own. "Thank you," she said sweetly. "Oh not a bother at all! Such a charmer you are." Going over to the stove she stirred what was in the pot before placing a lid on it. Then turning to the island she started to chop vegetables. "So Oren, may I ask what it is you do? I find myself curious." She looked up for a split second to look at him before she focused back on her chopping. |
Immediately brightening at his words, the young woman set her books aside and vaulted forward to give Eurus a hug. "Thank you, you've given me hope!" Hope for what exactly, she refused to say as the blushing young woman retreated to her seat with a cough and a shy apology. This was a little new for her, being in a situation where she actually might have a chance.
For Valentina, that never happened. "I only met him briefly ..." That was all. She was still pondering his words and trying to think of an alternative, which sent a shiver down her spine. Wandering the streets where that monster had been so recently, it was a frightening thought. Anything was better then that! Moving to stand in front of her as Primrose began chopping vegetables, the man rolled up his sleeves and picked up a knife to help her in the process. Smiling, he shook his head slightly. "Would you believe me if I told you I owned the Looking Glass Carnavale, the only place in the world where psychics are accepted by regular people?" They were just like everyone else after all. Anyone could be a psychic, anyone at all! It was just harder for some then others. |
Stunned Eurus froze as Valentina hugged him. He was not expecting that at all but he quite liked her hugging him. Smiling he nodded to her, not sure what to say. He didn't know what she meant about him giving her hope but he hoped he would understand soon. He nodded again when she told him they had only met briefly.
When she shivered he leaned over and grabbed of her hands. "You know your completely safe here and that you can stay for however long you want right? Prim won't mind you staying, in fact I know she would love for you to. She get's so lonely." What he didn't say was that he was the lonely one. There was only so much you could do with one person over and over again. Prim also spent a lot of her time in her lab/thinking room. "Thanks," she said and flashed him a smile. When he said he owned the Looking Glass her knife slipped and sliced her finger. "Crap!" She hissed out and spun around to the sink. Turning the water on she stuck her bleeding finger under he running stream of water. "So that's why you wanted Valentina. Well she's not here." She all but snarled at him. With angry jerking movements she shut the water off and wrapped a small towel around her finger. It hadn't been deep so it would stop soon. With one hand she scooped up the cut up vegetable's and threw them in the pot after taking the lid off and setting it down. Setting the lid back on the pot hard she turned around to glare at him. "And even if she was here I wouldn't tell you! Making money off of people that are different. Pft!" Shaking her head she put the bread in the oven and kicked the door closed. |
Opening her mouth and closing it like a fish out of water, the young woman shook her head a little incredulously. "But I would hate to impose ... And, I don't know Prim." Looking down at their hands, she couldn't help but peer down curiously at the way her light skin contrasted with his. Was it just her imagination, or did she feel the slight roughness of bark against her palm? And there was green in his hair, or at least reflections of it and his eyes ... They were absolutely mesmerizing, drawing the young woman in making her lean forward unconsciously.
"Calm down, it's not what you think! I watched my mother reviled because of her abilities. At least if people with the gifts she had are together, they can support each other. Without the money we make on the shows, that place wouldn't exist!" People always misunderstood what he meant, what the carnavale was all about. Though he supposed there was no blaming them when others created these places for monetary reasons only. |
Smiling softly Eurus reached out and brushed a stray lock of hair away from her face. "You wouldn't be imposing and you could get to know her. You both do have a lot in common. Plus I'll be here. I do live here most of the time when I'm not out in the forests." He let go of her hand to grab the arm of her chair and pulled her closer to him. Then grabbing one of the books she picked out he opened it to a random page. "Give me a race you want to know about and I'll tell you about them."
Crossing her arms across her chest Prim studied Oren. If what he was saying was true then he wasn't so bad. But it was the whole trusting him thing that she was stuck on. "So you're saying the Looking Glass is like a safe haven for those people? And that you do shows to fund your haven.." She wasn't sure if she should believe him. But she was going to give him the benefit of the doubt. "Alright, I believe you. But I want you to promise me something." As she waited to see what he would say Prim pulled the bread out and set it on the counter. Then she unwrapped the towel around her finger and threw it away. Turning the stove off she took the lid off the pot and stirred the stew. Dinner was officially done. |
Blushing after feeling his fingers against her face, the young woman bit her lower lip quietly. Thinking about his words, she shifted slightly in her seat. It was still a little wrong in her eyes, but her curiosity about Eurus had her wanting to stay. "Alright, I suppose I could stay." The blue eyed young woman still sounded a little uncertain.
A surprised sound left her when the forest spirit moved her chair closer to his. Upon hearing his words, another blush crept up her cheeks to stay there. "Forest spirits, what are they like? I mean, how is it being one?" Feeling slightly embarrassed for being so interested in this person she'd just met, Valentina let her eyes fall to the floor nervously. Humming with pleasure upon smelling the bread, he moved forward to smell it more deeply. "Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. As for that promise, it might help to know what it is you want me to promise before I say anything." Leaning against the stone counter, he leveled his purple eyes at her. Oren was just a little arrogant in his demeanor, but also somehow managed to seem humble at the same time. |
"It makes me extremely happy that you've agreed to stay. I think you'll enjoy yourself here. They're so many things to learn about the supernatural," Eurus said with a smile. Shifting in his seat he thought about the best way to answer her question. "Well for one, we're born from tree's full grown. We have all the knowledge that nature herself has learned and then passes on to us. It's amazing being a forest spirit. I guess I'm biases because I've never known anything else, but I wouldn't change anything. We have complete control over anything nature wise." Pausing he thought for a second to see if he was missing anything. "Does that answer your question?" He asked softly.
Prim also leaned against the counter, resting her chin in one of her hands. She tapped the side of her face with one of her fingers. "I want you to promise me that you will leave Valentina alone. She said no to you? If so you have your answer then." Straightening up she turned back around to wheel a cart out of a closet by the fridge. After placing the pot of stew, the bread, and four place settings on the tray she opened the fridge to grab out some drinks. Then grabbed four cups she placed her attention back on Oren. |
Born of trees? It didn't sound pleasant for any woman who wanted to have the children of a forest spirit. In fact it sounded downright painful! "What happens when a forest spirit has children with someone who isn't a forest spirit? Does that mean trees grow out of them?" The thought made Valentina shudder a little. Such a thought was truly unpleasant, and the fact that she'd voiced the question showed how comfortable she was beginning to feel around Eurus already.
Letting a sigh escape from him , Oren turned his amethyst eyes to Prim. "Very well ... Though I really do want to find out more about you. I don't know anyone else who could make such a delicious meal." He watched her for a little bit before tilting his head to the side. Four settings? "Are you expecting me to stay?" How wonderful, Oren hadn't even had to ask! |
Eurus let out a laugh and shook his head. Still chuckling he grinned at her. "No no! Tree's won't grow out of them." Letting out one more chuckle he wiped his eyes. He guessed his words cold have been taken out of context like that. "The child would be mostly human with a forest spirit's abilities but they would be some what dulled. A full blooded forest spirit is birthed by nature herself but she can only do it every few decades." He grinned at her and hoped this time he had made more sense.
"Me?" Prim asked and let out a little pfft. "I don't know why you'd want to know more about me. I am oh so boring. And thank you for the compliment. I like to make things, and cooking is something you make." She said with a small smile. "I suppose I am. Doesn't make sense for you to smell all of my delicious food and go home without trying some." Pushing the cart forward she began to walk out of the kitchen. "We will be eating in the library, come if you want. If you do be nice to my guests or I'll use one of my new gadgets on you!" She turned as she spoke and gave him a mock glare. Laughing she turned back around and continued on. |
A look of pure embarrassment crossed her face as Eurus began to laugh. She supposed it was a little funny, and finally ended up smiling a little. Joining in on his laughter, she ended up reaching out to squeeze his hand a little. "I suppose I was being a little silly." She wondered if forest spirits were all men, or if nature was truly a female entiity. Valentina shook her head and decided that she was just going to confuse herself.
The young man fell into step behind her with a grin. This was turning out to be quite the interesting day. He'd have to send word to the co owner of the Looking Glass troup about his impromptu decision to stay, but that could wait. And what are these gadgets of yours? Are you an inventor?" She just seemed to get more interesting by the moment, this woman. Well he supposed one had to be, in order to live alone in such a large place. |
((Not done, will work on it more tomorrow!))
Squeezing back Eurus smiled at her. "You weren't being silly. It was an honest question! I knew it was going to sound confusing the second it came out of my mouth." Keeping his hand wrapped around her smaller one Eurus glanced at the fire. "Do you have anymore questions for me? I find I don't mind answering them. It's quite entertaining." And it was, he was use to being alone besides Primrose. Stopping outside of the library Prim looked at Oren and grinned. "Oh this and that, just about anything really. Yes I'm an inventor. I'm surprised you didn't already know that." Turning around she pushed open the large double doors and rolled the cart in. "Now remember, play nice with my other guests." Wondering how this night was going to go Primrose walked forward and over to Eurus and Valentina. "Dinner is served you two! This is Oren, I've heard you've already met him Valentina." She stopped the cart and began setting everything out on a low table by the chairs. She dished out the bowels while she waited for everyone's reactions. |
Following his gaze, Valentina blushed prettily without realizing it. "Well are all forest spirits men?" Somehow the idea seemed just a little strange, bizarre even. The thoughts were halted abruptly at the sound of a door opening along with wheels turning. As she fell into silence Valentina moved herself as close to Eurus as possible. He was the only one she really trusted, though Primrose was quickly becoming one of the few who had that privilege.
Following the inventor quietly Oren smiled and nodded at her every word. He didn't want to cause trouble, definitely not. To him, Eurus seemed like a regular looking young man. The forest looked like what he'd expect, tall, dark haired with a kind smile. It was hard to push that aside to doubt and wonder. "I would love to know more about your inventions." Turning to the others he smiled politely as he moved to sit down upon one of the chairs by the fireplace. Plucking up bowl and spoon, Oren began to eat while managing to show his delight in the taste of the dish. |
Eurus shook his head and opened his mouth to answer when Prim and the male walked in. He watched silently as Valentina got as close to him as possible. Squeezing her hand lightly he leaned over to whisper in her ear. "I will let no one and nothing hurt you as long as I am around. All will be fine my sweet." Leaning back he gave a smile to Prim and then studied the man called Oren. "Thank you Prim for bringing dinner to us. Oren, it's a..pleasure," he said with a slight pause. "I'm Eurus." Picking up one of the soup bowls and a spoon he handed it to Valentina. "To answer your earlier question no, we're not all males."
After she dished up everything Prim stood straight with her hands on her hips, watching everyone. Satisfied she grabbed her own bowl and sat on the floor by the table and next to Oren. "What would you like to know about them?" She asked as she blew on her soup. Moving her spoon for a she then took a bite and almost groaned. Her ancestors had the best recipes. |
A deep blush swept over her cheeks at the unexpected endearment. Valentina mumbled a soft thanks as he gave her the things for supper. As an excuse to keep quiet, the young woman began eating delicious spoonful after spoonful. Admittedly, it was only half an excuse not to talk. Her earlier fear had been replaced with hunger now that the strawberry blonde was sure she was safe.
The man eyed Eurus almost suspiciously. There was something very strange about him, but Oren couldn't quite put his finger on it. " Well what things have you made?" It was different seeing the instant dislike in the other man's eyes and demeanor. Such an attitude wasn't exactly unusual per say, but more often then not Oren had at least already spoken to them. |
Grabbing his own bowl Eurus began to eat. As he was eating he couldn't help but watch Oren. His eyes continuously flickered between everyone. He was studying their reactions and wanted to make sure he didn't miss a thing. Valentina looked like she was relaxing, Prim was..well Prim. Oren though, he puzzled the forest spirit.
Sitting back in his chair he continued to eat his soup and watch the three of them. Suddenly he was becoming very restless. Setting his bowl down Eurus grabbed his crutch and stood up. Wincing as the action tugged on his stitches he shook it off and walked over to one of the large windows. He wanted to be outside near his element. Brow furrowing Prim looked at Oren. "That question has a million answers to it. Let's see.." she trailed off and tapped her chin with a finger. "My doorbell, what I call an intercom. It allows me to speak into any room in my house through a speaker box. That took me years to complete. A lot of odds and ends. I suppose I could show you my thinking room, then you could see for yourself." Just thinking about her favorite room made her smile. Grabbing her spoon she took another bite. Seeing Eurus rise she frowned and looked at him. Instantly she knew what was wrong as he walked over to a window. He wanted to be outside. Whenever he was hurt he could stay inside for a long time, he always felt better and healed faster when he was in his element. Clearing her throat she looked at Valentina. "When you're done eating you and Eurus should go on a walk. I bet he's dying to go outside from being cooped up in here all day." Prim gave the girl a meaningful look then gave her attention back to Oren and smiled. |
The young woman shifted uncomfortably upon her seat as she faced Oren. He was a little unsettling to be around, especially after the way he'd so doggedly pursued Valentina to this place. It was a relief to hear Prim urging her outside with Eurus, though now the strawberry blonde was worried about the forest spirit. He had seemed happier outside, it was true. Even when Eurus had been at his worst, he'd taken the time to grow a flower to reassure her.
Perhaps that was just the way he was. With a nod, Valentina moved with a blush to place a hand upon the forest spirit's sleeve. "Eurus ... Would you like to go outside?" She was so obviously nervous, and in such a sweet way! Pink tinged her cheeks at the thought of spending more time alone with the man who'd faced the same beast as she. Oren watched the whole exchange with a raised eyebrow before turning his attention wholly to Prim. "I would like to see your other inventions. It all sounds so fascinating! How exactly does this intercom work? Perhaps I could try it..." Projection of voice without magic, and science alone! What a feat that was. The circus owner couldn't help but admire Prim's ingenuity. |
((Running late! Finished, I'll add the colors later! Bye Paps!))
Eurus stood at the window, his gaze and mind fixed completely outside. So when Valentina came up to him she startled him a bit. Smiling he turned his head and looked at her. "I would love to go outside," he said with another grateful smile. Tucking her hand under his arm Eurus led her over to the door and outside. He let out a sigh of relief as he felt the presence of his mother. Already he was starting to feel much better. "Thank you Valentina. I was about to go crazy," he said with a laugh. "Come, I have something I want to show you." Leading her over to the woods he walked for a bit before stopping before a hanging wall of ivy. Smiling Eurus glanced at Valentina before pushing a few of the ivy strands out of the way. Behind was a large clearing with a small river. It was his favorite place one Prim didn't even know about. "What's your favorite thing to do?" He asked softly. Grinning Prim stood up and held her hand out to Oren. "Come, I'll show you," she said enthusiastically. "The intercom..it's sort of hard to explain. It included a lot of wires, I had to connect all the boxes together. Then I had to figure out a way to hide all the wires. I needed mikes and speakers, some of my older inventions. Yeah very hard to explain." She lost her train of thought for a moment before snapping back with a smile. "It's easier if you see." |
She offered up a smile and a blush as the forest spirit guided her outside. Valentina lifted her skirt with her free hand as they walked trough the forest. Her eyes lifted to peer up at how light filtered trough the leaves, making them shine and turning the shadows into delicate works of art. IT was always so wondrous to see the interplay between dark and light.
Her attention shifted once more to Eurus as she shot him a curious glance. The young woman felt her pink lips form an 'o' of surprise at the sight of the clearing. Carefully, Valentina slipped trough the ivy and into the clearing. With a laugh the girl plopped down and let herself fall back to look at the clouds and the wide blue sky for a moment as she thought of how to answer. "Reading, and dreaming. I like walking too, but I don't do that so often now since what happened a few years ago. " At least explaining the attack had already been done, and Eurus knew exactly what she spoke of. He grasped her hand with a chuckle and grinned. "So you connected everything, and what runs trough it? This new energy people call electricity?" She was right, thought Oren, it would be easier to see her invention. Though all he wanted to do now was to watch her smile. Getting sidetracked hadn't been the idea, but it had happened anyway. |
Eurus smiled and followed after Valentina. He was glad he showed her this place, if only to see that smile on her face. He walked over to her and laid down also. Placing his hands under his head he glanced up at the sky. "Dreaming huh?" He smiled at that thought before turning his head to glance at her. "I will always love to go on a walk with you. Now that I've somewhat seen the beast I will be prepared if it attacks again," Eurus told her softly. He didn't know why he felt so connected to the woman next to him but he did.
Pulling on his hand Prim started to lead Oren away with a smile. First she had been suspicious of him and wanted nothing to do with him but now..well she still felt suspicious but she couldn't help but like the man also. He was interested in her inventions. "Yes!" She squealed out happily almost skipping as she continued to lead him to her thinking room. "The new energy called electricity. I'm in love with it! It makes everything so much easier." Coming up to a door she stopped walking and turned to look at Oren. "In here is a madness you have never seen before. Please don't touch anything unless I say you can. A lot of things in here can go boom," she said with a complete serious face. Then a split second later she giggled and threw the double doors open. Yeah Prim was a bit..odd. The doors opened up to show a massive room, almost as big as the library. Like the library it was at the back of the house and was also an open two stories with windows. But every single window had huge thick drapes covering them up. Primrose like to work without natural light in this room and she didn't want anyone spying from outside. The room was filled with anything your mind could come up with. Both stories were filled with tables and benches, chairs and her inventions. It was cluttered but there was plenty of open space also. "So what do you think?" She asked quietly and bit her lip. |
She turned her head from the clouds to gaze at him with a shy smile. "I know." Truly it was strange how simple it was to lie down and relax on the grass with Eurus. "What was it like growing up?" Her life had already been laid out earlier, though perhaps not all of it. The details she'd dismissed had all be ordinary things. Things that anyone could say they'd gone trough. She didn't really think the man beside her would be interested in the ordinary, though that was exactly what she was.
"It's wonderful," replied Oren quickly after peering at everything in the room with a comically serious face. He reached out with a small yell as to steady something he'd bumped into and turned to give Prim a sheepish glance. "Seems like your inventions aren't fond of me." Or maybe she was making him nervous and clumsy. The second option wasn't one he wanted to think about too much. Not now anyway. |
Tilting his head to the side Eurus smiled back at Valentina. At her question he let out a sigh. For a second he glance back up at the clouds before looking back at her. "It was..wonderful but also lonely. I told you before there's not many of us. We have to train our powers when we're young, so we stay with an older Forest Spirit. One that has been chosen to train us. We really don't see many other beings for years, not until we can control our abilities. Though every once in awhile we are allowed to get all get together. A few times my trainer took me to other places. I was lucky and got a more relaxed trainer. But the training part was the best part. Learning to harness all of that power.." he smiled at this and trailed off. "This all probably sounds boring to you." Eurus laughed and shifted on the ground.
She waited quietly, waiting for his reaction to her room. Hearing him say it was wonderful caused butterflies in her stomach that she didn't quite like. She gave him a wide smile. "Thank you," she almost whispered to him. Prim had been turning to walk away when she heard him yelp. Spinning around she couldn't help but laugh. "I think they like you just fine." Grabbing his hand she tugged him forward. "Come I want to show you something." |
