French (Baked Alaska)

- Angel food, Sponge cake, or Baked Pastry shell

- 1 quart very firm ice cream

- 4 egg whites

- 1/4 cup light corn syrup

- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar powdered sugar

Place a 1-inch-thick layer of cake on a baking sheet. (have the cake 2 inches larger than the ice cream.) Place the ice cream in the center of the cake or pie shell. Cover with meringue made by beating the egg whites stiff and then beating in the corn syrup and cream of tartar. Sprinkle the top with powdered sugar and bake in a 500* oven until lightly browned. Place on a serving dish and serve immediately. Try this with peppermint ice cream on a hot summer day.

Hello thread.
Wifey made orange flavored popcorn balls for us for Halloween.
She should come by and post the recipe.

Xya 11-04-2014 06:22 PM

That sounds really good...popcorn in general is good xD

Nothing beats home made caramel corn though in my opinion [drool] especially still warm from the oven.

Here's that soup recipe. :)

Some made up instant mashed potatoes, I use the directions for 4 serving sizes.
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon dried minced onion
1 teaspoon rosemary
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Make up 4 servings of instant mashed potatoes, per the directions on the box.
when done, add milk, butter, salt, pepper, rosemary and onion.
Stir till thoroughly mixed, then turn off heat.
Eat and enjoy!

You say soup... but you're making mashed potatoes?

TaiyoTsuki 11-05-2014 02:24 AM

I should prolly put up a few burger recipes of mine [lol]

EirianHikari 11-05-2014 06:06 AM

The milk will thin it out, it becomes more soup consistency when finished. :)

The Wandering Poet 11-05-2014 06:06 AM

Ooh... good to know.

There is this local place near me that makes awesome popcorn. I am highly picky about caramel corn, as it tends to be to sweet for me, but this place makes the best caramel corn I have ever had. It's sweet but not sickly sweet. And they have the best white cheddar popcorn I have ever tasted.

Andraus 11-08-2014 05:11 PM

So how is everyone?

WHAT??? I need this recipe! That sounds amazing!

Kirin Rosenbaum 11-13-2014 03:58 PM

Hello all.

Connielass 11-21-2014 07:34 AM

Tomorrow I'm trying this one! I'm not doing everything the recipe calls for, though, so I'll let y'all know how it goes!

Miscreant74 11-24-2014 10:46 AM

Connielass:
I never did see a recipe for that, just the picture.
Neither of us are on Pinetrest.

Connielass 11-24-2014 05:38 PM

When you click on the link, and the picture turns up, click on the picture. It'll redirect you to the website that the recipe is on, which is a blog. You'll see an entry at the top for "Wordless Wednesday", then the entry for the recipe is directly under that.

I didn't have any chicken breasts laying around, so I used cooked hot dogs instead, and it was SO. GOOD. With a little bit of ketchup, the gooey cheese... YUM!

Potato's are good for any occasion. They can be made into soups, as an Appetizers, or as a side. We should all hope to become like the mighty potato, for it can be anything.

salvete 11-26-2014 01:11 AM

But can potatoes be desserts? I guess I've eaten sweet potato...but as a side dish, not a dessert.

Kirin Rosenbaum 12-02-2014 02:04 PM

*peeks in and looks around*

Connielass 12-03-2014 03:54 AM

Sal, most of the time when you're eating store-bought pumpkin pie, it's not actually pumpkin, it's made with sweet potato.

salvete 12-03-2014 04:41 AM

Oh! I did not know that. They certainly look similar.

Connielass 12-03-2014 07:58 AM

No, real pumpkin pie doesn't look similar, nor does it taste the same.

Damia Flagg 12-05-2014 10:33 PM

Hello everyone.
Sorry haven't been around a lot lately, work is keeping me busy.
Sadly haven't had any time to cook, in fact tonight I'm having hot pockets for dinner.
