Talis waited, even when Nereus seemed to finally be asleep the dragon continued to wait. He hesitated partly because he didn't really want to do what he was about to do and partly because he wanted to make sure the others were sound asleep. Finally, with a sigh, Talis moved to gently take Lily. Slow and gentle as he pulled Lily from Nereus' arm. The fox mumbled something but didn't wake yet and Talis hoped he hadn't woken Nereus or Callista. Finally he had Lily in his arms and out of the shelter. Violet wanted the fox, and he also wanted Callista, but Violet had expressed how much he wanted Lily back. Though he adored Callista's power, Violet was already convinced he could find a stronger, more obedient slave mage. Talis shivered lightly and moved towards the horse with Lily in his arms.

PapillonCameo 02-01-2012 05:21 AM

Shivering slightly as the extra warmth given to her by the fox was removed, Callista blinked sleepily. Turning her head this way and that, she yawned. Standing after a few moments of deliberation, the young woman slipped out of the shelter and stopped in her tracks when she noticed Talis with Lily in his arms. "What are you doing?" She hoped that this wasn't what she thought it was. But the mage knew very well how much Violet controlled Talis, and how much more he cared for Lily then he did for her. That thought made her blue eyes widen as she realized she was actually jealous of the fox. "Leave Lily here, and bring me instead. Say you weren't able to find him. You know that Lily has a horrible time with Violet." The fox was just too sweet to handle the horrid man.

Kry 02-01-2012 05:25 AM

Talis was holding Lily close and tight with one arm, and had just reached up to grab the saddle on the horse. Ready to mount up and ride away, he stopped when he heard Callista, but he didn't turn around or look at her. Looking at her, would make this even harder, hell, looking at Lily already made it damn near impossible. "I'm sorry, but I have to do this. You wouldn't understand." Talis spoke quietly, not wanting Lily to wake yet and he certainly didn't want Nereus to hear them and wake up. His free hand on the saddle horn, but still he hesitated.

PapillonCameo 02-01-2012 05:35 AM

"Try me. I'm a mage and a slave, I'm sure I can handle pretty much anything." She was only really indecisive and obedient around Violet. He terrified her, and held a strange fascination for her too. Callista often wondered what had happened to make him the way he was. If she went back, maybe she'd be able to finally find out. And then there was Talis too, just as fascinating and enigmatic but not someone who harmed others for his own pleasure. Callista supposed she was just a little messed up for actually wanting to go back to Violet. But if it meant she'd get to answer her questions and know Lily was free ... Then there would be no worrying about him, knowing that he was safe with Nereus.

Kry 02-01-2012 05:56 AM

Talis shook his head. "Please, forgive me." One foot in the stirrup and the dragon pulled himself up onto the horse. Both arms going around Lily for a moment to keep the fox from falling and jostling about too much. He shifted on the saddle a bit, Lily murmuring something and nuzzling against him. Guilt was already eating at him, stabbing at his heart and he hadn't even gotten out of their little camp yet. Then Lily had opened his eyes and looked up at Talis, blinking at him. Those eyes. Talis very nearly let Lily go, but he couldn't. "I'm sorry Lily. I'm very sorry." He spoke those words quietly to the fox.

Lily had been sleeping contently, but he had woken when Talis mounted the horse. Too much bouncing. His lips parted as he mumbled something sleepily before opening his eyes and staring up at Talis' face. At first Lily was confused, when Talis apologized the fox blinked and shifted around to look around. Lily was a smart boy, it didn't take him long to realize what Talis intended. Before the dragon could clamp a hand over his mouth Lily yelled. "NEREUS.." The rest of his yell came out muffled as Talis hand covered the fox's mouth. With his other hand, he was reaching forward to grab the reins of the horse.

PapillonCameo 02-01-2012 06:08 AM

Nereus hadn't noticed when everyone left. Though he woke from his slumber very quickly when he heard someone yell his name. Standing quickly and grabbing his sword, Nereus rushed out of the shelter. The man's grey eyes turned murderous as he ran forward quickly to grab the horse's reins to make sure Talis didn't run away with Lily. Reaching out with his free hand, the knight quickly tried pulling Lily from Talis. And if the dragon gave him any trouble, Nereus let a hit fly out to weaken his grip on the fox.

As soon as Lily was safely in his arms, he backed away from Talis. Once far away, he placed Lily behind him and lifted his sword.

Callista watched everything happen with wide blue eyes. In the end, when Nereus stood between Lily and Talis she had an idea. It might not work perfectly, but it would buy them time and perhaps even fool Talis. She moved to stand beside the fox and wove an illusion so she looked like Lily and he appeared to be her. This was the only spell she dared weave at the moment, luckily she would only have to hold one of the illusions long enough for Talis to take her instead of the fox.

Kry 02-01-2012 06:18 AM

Talis grimaced lightly as Nereus rushed towards them. Lily was squirming in his arms, so when Nereus reached out to pull Lily away, Talis couldn't resist much. All the fox's wriggling made that difficult. Still, Talis probably wouldn't have resisted much anyway. Talis practically leaped off of the horse, advancing towards Nereus. Though he couldn't really fight this man, Nereus had a sword and Talis was unarmed. Those golden eyes flicked from Nereus to Callista, he felt her magic when she used it and he shook his head. Her illusion couldn't fool him. His looked at Lily and flinched slightly at the distrust in the fox's eyes. "I have to do this." Talis moved, aiming to sprint around Nereus so he could grab Lily, the actual fox and not the illusion Callista wore. A human might have been fooled, but Talis knew better.

PapillonCameo 02-01-2012 06:10 PM

Callista panicked when Talis moved to snatch up Lily. It looked like her plan hadn't worked. So as the dragon moved to capture the fox, she pushed the young man aside just as Nereus tried to block Talis. It only ended up in the white haired man's falling onto the fox. Glaring a little at the dragon, Callista crossed her arms. "Talis maybe if you told us what kind of hold Violet has on you, we could help. Please don't take Lily away!" Pleading now, the young woman moved forward to grab the dragon's arm and held on tightly.

Kry 02-01-2012 07:51 PM

Lily had started to take a step back when Talis advanced, with an eep and a squeak Lily suddenly found himself on the ground with Nereus over him. Those ears twitched and he chewed his bottom lip hard, wriggling a bit and scrambling away from the three of them. When he thought he was a good enough distance away, Lily just sat in the snow, hugging his knees and fluffy tail to his chest. He didn't quite understand why Talis was doing this, and he turned sorrow filled eyes on towards the dragon. "But. Your supposed to be my brother, you aren't supposed to want to take me back."

Talis advanced another step when Nereus fell, but he hesitated. Watching as Lily scooted away from them all, and flinching slightly at the look the fox gave him and his words. "...I..." He turned those golden eyes to Callista, unable to look at Lily anymore. When she grabbed his arm, he looked down at the snow covered ground. "I'm not like you, running away and removing my collar will not make me free, even in realms where Violet has no power. It's so easy for you to gain true freedom." He only halfheartedly attempted to pull his arm free of Callista's tight grip.

PapillonCameo 02-01-2012 09:25 PM

Letting out a sigh of frustration, Callista tightened her hold on the dragon's arm. "What would set you free? It has something to do with the strange extra spell on your collar, doesn't it?" The young mage was frustrated, all she wanted to do was keep running but if she did that then Talis would bring Lily back to Violet. That was a terrifying though, especially since the fox had been his favorite. Callista had that honor because of her powers, but Lily ... It was because he liked Lily that Violet wanted him by his side.

Shaking his head slightly and glancing at the other two over his shoulder, Nereus then directed his gaze towards Lily. Taking his time, he stood and brushed himself off. All the while the white haired man paid close attention to what was said between Callista and Talis. It seemed like she was at the very least distracting him enough that he could afford to go and speak with Lily. Moving to it beside the fox, Nereus still kept his sword well in hand just in case the dragon decided to try something. "We could always run now," stated Nereus quite simply. "Later on, I could come back and try to buy them from Violet." He just needed some time to save up enough gold for incentive to sway the man first.

Kry 02-01-2012 10:20 PM

Talis shook his head, his gaze shifting so he could watch Nereus. "Yes and no. The one on my collar is just a back up. In case something happens to the object the original spell was placed on. I've been a prisoner for a very long time before Violet owned me." When Callista had tightened her grip on his arm, Talis didn't try to resist her. He watched Nereus carefully, the man was speaking quietly to Lily and he wasn't sure what was being said, but Lily looked upset about something else now. Talis was frowning deeply.

Lily shifted a bit when Nereus came to sit next to him, but his eyes were mostly on Talis. Watching the dragon with a mix of uncertainty, fear and disbelief. Shaking his head slightly, Lily hugged his knees and tail tighter to his chest and glanced at Nereus. "Violet wouldn't sell Callista or Talis. Callista is a strong mage, Violet covets power, and Talis, he's always calling Talis a special, rare beast. Violet doesn't sell his slaves or pets, especially the rare ones." There were tears in Lily's eyes, all his confusion and fear and disbelief had vanished when he looked at Nereus. "If Talis returns without me, Violet will hurt him." Lily reached out to grab Nereus' wrist, squeezing it a bit. "Please, you can't let Talis take me or Callista back there, and you can't let him go either. I don't want Violet to hurt them or me." His eyes were wide and he pleaded almost frantically.

PapillonCameo 02-01-2012 10:43 PM

It puzzled her, what he said. She couldn't imagine what object held so much power over him, save perhaps a part of himself. What then did Violet posses, and what was Talis? "What are you?" The words were almost a whisper as she spoke. Leaning this way and that, she tried to capture his golden eyes with her blue ones. This was serious. There was a chance she could help him, and Callista wanted to! She really did.

Dropping his sword, Nereus pulled Lily close. Smoothing the fox's hair back to try and soothe him, he bent his head down to whisper in Lily's ears. "I'll try. I'll try with everything I have, but I can't promise that it will work." He wouldn't make false promises to him, nor would he let him think that he would succeed.

Kry 02-01-2012 10:55 PM

"I have to go back." Talis pulled free of Callista's grip and turned towards the horse. Rather quickly he was on the beast and turning it around. Ready to gallop off. Run away, back to Violet's estate. The only thing that stopped him was Lily. Talis was at a loss, he couldn't stay with them, they couldn't trust him. Sooner or later he'd do something else and return to Violet. He had to.

The fox clung to Nereus for a few moments, nodding slightly and then turning his head to watch Callista and Talis. When Talis mounted the horse and turned it, Lily jumped to his feet. "Talis!" His shout caused the dragon to pull back on the horse's reins and look towards the fox in confusion. Lily looked at Nereus, eyes pleading. "Don't let him go." Those same pleading eyes turned towards Talis. "You can't go back, you'll get punished for being bad." His fluffy tail was in his hands and he was wringing it nervously.

PapillonCameo 02-01-2012 11:07 PM

He had to try and find a solution for this problem. Lily looked so sad, and so upset. Earlier thoughts of wanting to make the fox smile came to the forefront in Nereus's mind. There just had to be way, but it was difficult to find one when they only had part of the story. Moving to follow Lily, to stand beside him, Nereus crossed his arms and let out a sigh. "I can't make him stay, not unless he actually wants to." Lifting his eyes to the dragon, Nereus grimaced slightly. He didn't like him, but Lily saw the man as a brother. So, for the fox's sake, he would try.

Talis's reaction made her eyes widen. This seemed to confirm for her the fact that he wasn't human, or normal anyway. It hurt a little that he'd turned away from her, so she walked forward to quickly to grab the horse's reins. "Talis, please tell me what you are and how you're bound. As a mage I might be able to help you be free." This wasn'T trying to convince someone to stay, no, it was something a little more personal then that. It was asking him to tell her his secret, one she was sure only Violet knew. Violet and those he was trying to impress with his collection.

Kry 02-01-2012 11:24 PM

"Your powers might not be strong enough." He murmured the words lightly, his eyes were on Lily and Nereus though. The fox wanted him to stay, but Lily just didn't understand. He shook his head. "None of you understand." His gaze shifted, from Lily and Nereus to Callista. "I am a dragon. Violet has in his possession one of my fangs." He sighed softly, now maybe they would realize that they could not help him. "I've had many masters, everytime I change hands, my fang goes to the new owner. It's protected by other spells, I can't even get within arms reach of it."

Lily whimpered softly and gave Nereus a light push towards Callista and Talis. "Stop him anyway." He whispered the words, and they came out a bit muffled, the tip of his tail was pressed against his lips. The fox shifted on his feet, and squeezed his tail lightly as he held it against himself.

PapillonCameo 02-01-2012 11:49 PM

"You might not be able to, but I probably could." She'd even felt it, and she'd never thought to question where the energy came from, or why it had seemed so familiar. And Violet, he would probably think another had stolen his precious dragon fang to spite him. Yes she could run away, but she wanted to help Talis more. He needed help, and she could do that for him. "I'll go back, and I'll try to help you get free. He might not have Lily back, but he'll have his mage." Turning to Lily, the young woman sniffled a little but went on. "You can't go back, I think we can survive Violet's wrath though." She didn't say that she wanted to see how Violet would react to her return, though in all probability ... "I want to go back." That would probably shock everyone, it shocked her too.

Nereus looked back to Lily before walking forward. Catching some of what Callista said made him shake his head in disbelief, especially her last words. The woman was crazy for wanting to return to a life of servitude! What would make her do that? It didn't seem possible. "Look Talis, I may not like you very much but you're important to Lily. So please, stay for his sake and I'll do everything I can to make sure you don't return him to Violet." He was certain he could do so, despite the fact that he was a dragon in human form.

Kry 02-02-2012 12:03 AM

Talis stared at Callista. Had the woman gone crazy? "Why would you want to go back to that?" He eyed her for a moment, then looked at Nereus. "I can't stay. Even I did stay, Violet would find Lily. He always knows where I am, because of my fang." Talis shook his head. "I have to go back. I can't escape him the way both of you can. You should grasp that freedom and hold onto it tightly. I'm sure we'll meet again though, Violet won't give up easily."

Lily sighed softly. "If Calli goes with you, she can get your fang. She can break the spells on it, then both of you can run away again." It all seemed so simple in his mind. Of course it would work and of course Callista would be strong enough to break whatever spells were binding Talis. She was the strongest, and only, mage he knew. "But..he'll punish you when you return, and I don't like that." He pouted and sniffled lightly.

PapillonCameo 02-02-2012 12:32 AM

It was so hard to explain that even she wasn't sure. Maybe it was because she actually liked Violet, or the times when he was kind to her. That happened so rarely though, because Lily had been the one he always paid attention to. The fox was such a delicate creature, even Violet seemed to take greater care with him. Sighing, shaking her head, the young woman vaulted up onto the horse and wrapped her arms around the dragon. The confidence Lily showed for her made Callista smile as she turned to wave to him slightly. He was her friend, and she would miss him terribly.

Nereus watched the whole conversation unfold with mixed feelings. "Lily, say your goodbyes. They need to leave and make sure he doesn't send anyone else our way." He knew he sounded cruel, but his priority right now was protecting Lily and no one else. It was Lily he cared for despite his early misgivings, and it was the fox he had vowed silently to keep safe and happy.

Kry 02-02-2012 01:01 AM

Talis sighed, frowning as Callista swung up onto the horse. The dragon shook his head, giving the fox and Nereus a quick wave. If he stayed long enough for Lily to say his goodbyes, Talis might not leave at all. Then he would just eventually still Lily and return to Violet, or Violet would end up tracking them all down and capturing them all, including Nereus. Once he was sure Callista had a good grip around him, he kicked the horse into a run and sped off immediately.

Lily's lips parted but before he could really say anything, Talis and Callista had ridden off. He let go of his tail and reached out to cling to Nereus, a few tears slipping down his face. "They'll come back. They're my friends, and I'm sure they'll be okay...Right?" His bottom lip trembled a bit as he looked up at Nereus' face.

PapillonCameo 02-02-2012 04:10 AM

The young woman held onto the dragon tightly as he heeled the horse forward. She wasn't sure how long it would take to reach their destination at the pace they ran. She anticipated seeing Violet again, was actually looking forward to it. Definitely strange to want to see the person who'd kidnapped you and made you his slave. She just wanted to know if he would keep seeing her as nothing more then a thing. It had been a big reason why she'd run away in the first place.

Wrapping his arms around the fox, Nereus sighed. "I won't say everything will be fine, but from what I can see they'll do everything they can to find you again. What you need to do is escape, and find happiness so when they find you again they'll know this was the best choice for everyone." At least he thought it was. Then again, Lily was the one he focused on not the others. Though in truth, he wanted the fox to be happy and safe. Placing a kiss on Lily's forehead, he smiled a little and tried to guide him back to the little shelter. "Try and sleep again, and if not we'll have to take this apart and hide it. Then we can start traveling again."

Kry 02-02-2012 04:44 AM

Talis had slowed the horse down to a walk once he was a good distance away from were Nereus and Lily were. The dragon really wasn't looking forward to returning to Violet. He wasn't looking forward to the punishment he knew he would receive when they arrived, and he was afraid for Callista. Not sure what Violet might do to her as punishment. Surely he wouldn't do anything that would hinder her ability to spell cast, still, thinking about it made the dragon shudder. "This is stupid..You could be free, we might never get another chance to escape again."

Lily had hugged Nereus tightly, clinging to him hard for a few moments. Lily knew that everything probably wouldn't be fine. Still, that didn't mean he couldn't hope for the best. With a soft sigh he let Nereus guide him back to the shelter, the fox covered his lips with a hand as he yawned. He was still sleepy. "You don't like Talis, but he isn't a bad guy. He's not mean, I don't think he really wanted to take me back or he would have fought you." Maybe Lily was just trying to reassure himself that the man he thought of as a brother could never betray him like that.

PapillonCameo 02-02-2012 11:00 PM

"You're right about that last part. Now, try and get some sleep Lily." Sitting down on the packed down snow, Nereus felt his eyes droop and then flutter open. After staying up for so long in order to keep an eye on everyone, he'd missed some sleep. Then what he'd been able to have had been interrupted very rudely by Talis. Leaning back, he glanced at Lily with a small smile. Maybe he would want to sleep the way they had the night before?

She knew that, but still wanted to figure out why she had conflicting feelings about Violet. Callista knew herself well enough that she knew it would haunt her forever if she didn't figure it out. "There's something I need to figure out." There was no way she was telling Talis that she might actually like Violet. A small possibility to be sure, but it was there. Besides, the dragon needed her help.

Kry 02-02-2012 11:11 PM

"He's going to punish us, do you really want to go through that? He'll probably beat us within an inch of our lives." Talis sighed, shaking his head. He knew he probably wouldn't be able to get Callista to change her mind, still. He kept the horse going at a slow walk. It might give her time to think about things, and if she wanted to run away, she would still have time to hop off the horse and go before they got too close to Violet's estate. For Talis though, he was filled with dread, and the slow pace of the horse was torturous as well as enjoyable. He wanted to hurry up and get there, so the punishment could be done and over with, but he also liked being away from the estate, out from under Violet's thumb. That small taste of freedom had been very nice and very bitter, it left Talis both hungering for more, and wishing it would never come. "I've been a slave too long, if I were free, what would I do without a master? I think I've forgotten how to live."

Lily was tired, and he did want to sleep some more. Though there was something else that Lily wanted a little more than sleep. When Nereus sat down on the snow, Lily watched him for a few moments. He seemed to be struggling to stay away, and the fox went to him. Settling down on Nereus lap so that he was straddling the man and facing him. His slender legs wrapping easily around Nereus waist, and his arms went around the man's neck. For a moment Lily fluttered his eyes at Nereus, and then boldly leaned forward to capture his lips softly. All the while he wriggled, moving his hips as he wriggled in Nereus' lap. Lily hated being bedded by Violet, but the fox was so used to such a thing that when it didn't happen he felt..well he wasn't sure how he felt, but he didn't like how it felt.

PapillonCameo 02-02-2012 11:37 PM

His words left a bitter taste in her mouth. Callista was definitely crazy, and quite sane at the same time. "You'll never know if you aren't free and freeing you is why I'm going back." The slow pace of the horse had the blue eyed woman grimacing a little. She just wanted to get it over with. All this waiting had her on edge. She knew a punishment was coming, a painful one in all probability. The silvery haired mage tightened her arms around the dragon with a small sigh while hiding her face in his shoulder. This just wasn't her day.

A look of complete and utter surprise crossed Nereus's face when the fox sat on his lap. Though soon enough one arm went around the other man, while his free hand lifted to run trough Lily's soft hair. Deepening the kiss, the knight had to stifle a moan at the way his companion was moving. He didn't wonder for a moment what was going trough the fox's mind. Nereus was a little ashamed that he was giving in so easily, but oh how he'd wanted this since meeting Lily! Though, there was just one thing bothering him. Pulling back slightly, he blushed uncharacteristically as he murmured a few words. "Bear with me Lily, I've never been with a man before." It was a little embarrassing to admit such a thing while in the midst of their current activity, but it was obvious. At least, he hoped it was especially with his earlier reaction to certain information.

Kry 02-02-2012 11:55 PM

"You don't have to though...You could be free and just forget all about me." Talis was frowning a bit, his eyes straight ahead on the horizon. He dreaded and anticipated the sight of Violet's estate, though it was still quite a ways off. The dragon couldn't quite sort out his own feelings, perhaps Callista was as conflicted as he was?

Lily murred softly when Nereus pulled back some. He smiled at Nereus. "It's alright. I know you won't hurt me, and I can show you exactly what to do." He leaned forward, capturing Nereus' lips with his again. Lily's hands moved to Nereus' shoulders, then they were sliding slowly down the man's chest. They hesitated at Nereus' waist. Lily hadn't once stopped all that wriggling he was doing, causing himself to moan very softly into the kiss.
