For a moment, Kyoya would spare himself a bit of sanity and allow his gaze to travel out to where Teagan and Honey danced together. It was a cute scene really, because of his boyish nature and looks, but it was odd in some aspects as well. Still, a grin lit his face the smallest bit as he again let his gaze drop to levy is clipboard. His mind was working quickly, slender fingers typing fervently at his pocket calculator as his other hand worked to jot notes down. This was when Haruhi approached.
Without a word, he closed his clipboard and set his calculator aside. After casting a side glance at Haruhi, he would let out a soft sigh, relaxing his posture a bit as he looked out at the dancing pair. "What do you suggest I do, Haruhi? Dance?" he questioned with a tone of amusement in his voice, yet the tall blonde of the group took him quite seriously in the suggestion. "Haruhi, come here, Daddy wants to dance!" Tamaki called out sweetly, and while Kyoya knew the man had good intentions, he found that he might do Haruhi a favor. Turning to her abruptly, he took one of her hands gently within one of his, pulling her gently to lead her away from the wall if allowed. "Care to dance?" he asked, a bit too late for he had already assumed an answer. In the place whe the two once stood, Tamaki moped to himself, murmuring, "Okay, sweetie, dance with your Mommie first..." |
Eventually, the twins got the bright idea to cut in on Honey. Hikaru swooped in and nabbed Teagan away. She was surprised, but he didn't seem to be doing anything too harmful, so she allowed it, and didn't stop smiling. Then Kaoru managed to cut in on his brother. She just laughed and danced with whomever it came to. Back and forth between Honey, Hikaru, and Kaoru. She seemed to have accepted that the twins wouldn't hurt her either. It seemed that all but one had earned her trust.
Haruhi looked back and laughed as she danced with Kyoya. "Tamaki-sempai, you should dance too. Mori-sempai needs a partner, I think." She joked. It seemed that everyone was having a good time with this.\ http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/IMAG0323.jpg |
While his gaze ended up trailing over to watch Teagan and her dancing partners, Kyoya Found himself enjoying his time in some small manner. A grin trailed pleasantly along his lips as he stepped in time to the music, relaxing though his work did still occupy some part of his mind. With Haruhi's joke, he lead himself and Haurhi on over to Tamaki, his grip abruptly letting her go in the middle of a spin to hand off to Tamaki. Of Ouran, the blonde would take hold of her in a gentle manner however surprised he was, glad to dance with his 'little girl'.
Meanwhile, as Kyoya turned once more to face Teagan and Hikaru he believed who were now dancing, he caught on to something suspicious. His twin was moving as if to bud in, but instead of doing so, both boys stopped moving and gave Teagan a sudden, gentle push in Kyoya's direction. He was taken off guard, almost enough so that he wasn't quite sure what to do. Yet being he was so close anyways, he caught the hint, and took up little hesitation in taking one of Teagan's hands gently within his as his other mover gently to rest upon her mid-back. He acted as if it were planned, leading her into a playful dance of sorts, the twins watching from the sidelines with smug smiles. Kyoya vowed to get them back for making him look even a bit flustered. |
Teagan stumbled a bit as the pushed her towards Kyoya. Luckily he caught her hands. She laughed a bit, embarrassed by her stumble, and a bit shy for how close they were. She let him lead, keeping up quite well. "Hello there." She said with a sweet smile as she looked up at him. "You dance wonderfully." She commented as she enjoyed their dance.
Haruhi danced with Tamaki, but a few times she caught a glimpse of Kyoya and Teagan. "Tamaki-sempai, I didn't know Kyoya could dance." She commented. "And he looks... happy." She said. She was use to a very down to earth, business minded Kyoya. Haruhi had frankly been surprised when he actually took a break to dance. |
(( Forgot to add this to my last post, but she's really pretty! ))
He grinned as she laughed, glad she didn't seem to mind the gesture, which was an odd though in itself. Had he wanted to dance with her? He wasn't even quite surely that answer, but something in the smugness the twins displayed bothered him, a flustered tint coming to his cheeks for a moment as they began to dance. Again it was hardly noticeable and he regained his composure swiftly, but he was inwardly bothered by it, and the sudden close proximity of Teagan had him feeling restless though luckily the dancing would cover all signs of this. "Hello," he would reply smoothly, then chuckling slightly, "Thank you, but I must say I don't dance often... You dance quite well yourself, Nakashima-san." While Tamaki had his full attention on Haruhi for the most part while they danced, he had definitely noticed a visible change in his dear friend however Kyoya had tried to make it. This brought a smile to his face at Haruhi's notice, and his head turned slightly to look at the other two dancing, nodding his head in agreement with her. "Of course Kyoya can dance, he is a host after all," he reminded her in an almost thoughtful manner. Then looking oddly at the two for a moment, he shrugged, "Yes, he does seem overly content right now." The blonde saw nothing of grave importance in this, not connecting any dots between Kyoya's behavior and Teagan, simply happy that all of his friends seemed happy at the moment. |
(Thank you!! ^_^)
She continued to dance with him, not paying the rest of the room much attention. It was sort of fun dancing like this. That coupled with the gown she wore made her feel a bit special. "You know what's funny, Ootori-san?" She asked with a light smile as they danced. "It's silly, but dancing like this, and the gown... It kind of makes me feel like a princess." She said with a giggle. "I've never really danced with anyone before." She said. It was the truth. Her family was well known, but not terribly social. Haruhi grinned at how focused Tamaki was. Times like these, she actually didn't mind his one track mind. He was so content to just dance with her and be happy that his friends were happy. Haruhi guessed that was one of his better qualities. A minute or two later, the song ended, and with it, that particular waltz. |
While the twins' devious glances bothered him at first, he found himself relaxing more as time went on. His attention turned moreso towards Tagn, work for once leaving it, or at least moving to the back of his mind for the time being. Her question sparked his curiosity, his head tilting to the side slightly as he replied with a simple, "What?" With her answer, it was difficult for him not to return her smile with a grin, so he did just that. He took some pride in hearing this, knowing that at least the gown was of his doing. It was strange to say the least to feel such, but inexplicably, he did.
"I am glad you find it so," he replied simply, voice a tad lower in volume than normal, but his gaze steady and facial expression calm. This all regardless of how he punished himself for speaking like that. "From watching you, I wouldn't have been able to tell. You're doing quite well," he complimented, then paused as he noticed the song had ended. This was the part where he was supposed to let go of her. He stood still for a moment. Just looking at her as he had been for a split second before letting her go and bowing slightly in her direction. "My lady," he spoke in a humorous tone, going off of her idea of being a princess. Tamaki enjoyed the dance thoroughly, perhaps more than any 'Daddy' should, but that was besidesd the point. When the music ended, he didn't hesitate to embrace Haruhi enthusiastically, "You danced so well, Haruhi! Daddy's so proud! Momma did you see her?!" He exclaimed in typical Tamaki fashion, leading Kyoya's gaze in their direction. Ucharacteristically, the dark-haired man's grin broadened if only a bit, and he stifled a small chuckle. "Yes, Tamaki, I did see." he spoke casually, then pushing his glasses further up his nose and moving to take up his clipboard, expecting customers to be arriving soon. |
Teagan's cheeks lit up at his bow and words. She'd never had anyone play to a whim like that before. Thankfully, a moment later Tamaki called out and she had a moment to calm her blush and butterflies. Now, it was time to get down to business, as guests would be showing up soon. She moved across the floor and began to lay the desserts out on the tables, being careful not to dirty her gown. All the while she kept thinking back to that dance. It was such a lovely experience, and yet something entirely foreign to her. The way he'd smiled at her. The way he spoke. For some reason it gave her a 'strange-in-a-good-way' feeling.
|
Unfortunately Kyoya missed the blush lighting his cheeks for fret over his own flushed appearances, not wanting to embarrass himself by acting in a silly fashion. As he went about back to work at his clipboard, and welcoming the first few guests inside, he would muse that perhaps it was not a cold bothering him at all. It had something to do with Teagan-- and that dance, and his running after her, and his odd sense of frustration when he heard that Teagan had wanted to date Haruhi. The onslaught of abnormalities to him was enough to give him a horrid headache, and when he got a moment away from the guests he would fish out a pill for migraines and take it discreetly with a sipnofwater. Then sitting down, he would set his clipboard down, just thinking to himself for a few moments. Kyoya was struggling to measure why he was acting so strangely.
Int he meantime, Tamaki approached him boldly, wrapping an arm around his shoulder, "If you're sick, you can always take a break from-" Kyoya interrupted, "I'm not sick." The blond then looked him over, taken back, before slurring to himself and smiling out at his customers. He had an appointment to get to, leaving Kyoya to his work. It was times like these that Kyoya's indifference to his lack of guests would melt the slightest bit. In this situation, they may have helped him take his mind off of that waltz that went on through his thoughts. |
After setting out all the baked goods, Teagan stopped for a few moments. It was about that time that she noticed Kyoya looking rather out of sorts. She immediately thought that it might be because he was exhausted. Afterall, he worked the hardest of the whole group. So she poured him a cup of tea and brought him a slice of an apple torte she'd made. "Ootori-san... You should take a break. You've worked so hard the last three days. You must be tired," She said as she offered him the food and drink. "If it would help any, I'll do anything that you need done, so that you can relax." She offered, looking concerned for him.
|
Kyoya was about half an hour's way into work when Teagan approached. He had been calculating this week's profits, tracking the customers' visits to see how their numbers were holding up, and monitoring the host club's finances. When she approached, his gaze drew up to her slowly from the paper he was working with, and in stead of replying at firs,t he simply pulled out the chair next to him a gesture that she may sit beside him if she wished to. If not, he wouldn't be offended, but accept the offerings she had for him with a grin, "Thank you, Nakashim-san."
While a part of him appreciated her show of concern, it took him back more than anything. No one had ever looked at him like that, even when he was six feet under in work. He suspected he had been showing outwardly hoe his flustered mind was leading him to think, and while at firs the had suspected a cold he was now sure of its cause. In the past few days, his mind had circulated around the frustrated feeling he had felt when Teagan admitted she liked Haruhi, the way he had run after her so determinedly without a second's notice, and now how the waltz they danced to seemed forever engraved in his mind. What was this girl doing to him? Taking a sip of tea, he would let his gaze wander away from her to look over their guests in a calm manner. "I am used to the work, I assure you," he spoke simply, dancing around the idea rather than giving her a solid answer. She didn't need to help him-- or rather, he didn't want to have to ask for her help. Then drawn to look at the torte she had brought over, he took an experimental bite and was pleasantly greeted with a delicious bit of flavor. Grinning, his gaze would rise to hers, "Your torte is impressive, Nakashima-san. I see how the customers have been so pleased with your work." |
Teagan watched as Kyoya took the tea and drank of it. She was glad that she could be at least that much help to him. He'd done so much for her, in just three short days. He'd saved her from a life of hiding in the bathrooms between classes, and gave her something to focus on. He'd gone after her when she was upset, and he didn't miss a chance to compliment her on something.
Speaking of compliments, Teagan smiled widely when he commented on her torte and laughed a bit. "It's good they like it. But I don't think they all know that it was me who made it. Otherwise, I don't think they'd like them near as much." In the instances she did go to class, she was still the object of many girls' scorn for the fact that the men at the academy were all so fond of her. Then a thought occured to her. "Hey... Ootori-san. If you'd like, you can just call me Teagan." She offered. She knew it was a familiarity thing here in Japan to use one's surname with someone unfamiliar. But she didn't mind it because of being raised abroad. |
While He didn't realize just how often he had been complimenting her, Kyoya though his words were worth the smile she gave him in return. Her laugh and what she said drew a small chuckle from him, but while he noticed how that could be funny he also felt bad for her for the same reason. She was the object of every guy's eye, and the envy of every girl-- he couldn't imagine the consequences of being a person like that. As he looked at her, however, he couldn't help but understand what the guys saw in the girl sitting next or him. "Perhaps," he countered akin a bit of amusement, though his face remained serious enough to convey that he did want her to have recognition, but not if that would make her hard work all for not.
Hr suggestion made his eyes widen slightly, his lips even parting the lightest bit before they pressed into an uncertain grin. He didn't see the harm in doing so, but just how comfortable was he willing to get with her? He suspected he might just have to find out as he nodded slowly, "Ah, alright, Teagan," he tried the word out on his mouth, if ding it not the least unpleasant. Then aware that typically one would return the thought in Japan, he would speak up again, his eyes on her as if to gage her reaction. "Then I am simply Kyoya," he suggested, then taking another sip of tea as he moved his papers into a pile. He was no longer paying any mind to them, and right now he found his interest elsewhere. |
She grinned as she looked off to the side a bit. "Ah, i-if it makes you uncomfortable, though, I would continue to call you by your surname. She didn't want to make him uncomfortable. Though, she didn't know that to some extent, she already did. "Ya know... Kyoya-san... I... I'm very glad I met you. I was afraid I'd be lonely at this school, but I'm not, because the other hosts and you are watching out for me. It makes me happy!" She said with no small amount of cheer in her tone. Who wouldn't feel alone, not only being in a new country, with a new family, but being the new girl at a new school? "Thank you for making these easier for me." She said. "If I can ever do anything for you, just let me know, alright?" She was the loyal sort, whom would do anything she could to help those who treated her well.
|
Of. All things to make him uncomfortable, a name? Such was not so, though he could see her reasoning, and her slight stutter was quite cute. "I'm perfectly comfortable with it, Teagan-san," he assured her with a slight nod before taking another bite of the torte. While he wasn't one to gorge himself on sweets, he fancied tht he rather liked her baking so far, so didn't hesitate to finish his plate though he did so in decent manner. His tea was left afterwards, from which he took a sip as she continued. Again her words tweaked some part of him in an unexpected manner and he relied smoothly, "I am glad to have met you as well, and warm glad to hear that we've been of some assistance to you." He was flattered, former lack of better explanation, and couldn't help but let a the slightest of coloring taint his pale cheeks. "Yes, thank you, Teagan-san. In return, do not by hesitant to ask for my help or the help of any other in the club."
|
At that instance, before she could say much more, there came a knocking upon the door. Mori left his group answer, and could be seen speaking to someone who appeared to be male. Mori looked rather concerned as he moved from the door, gesturing that he would return in a moment. He walked over to where Kyoya and Teagan sat. "It seems someone found out that Nakashima-chan has been working here with us... They want to be her customer..." He said warily. Teagan looked uneasy at this, but said nothing.
|
Kyoya stiffened in the slightest fashion as he saw Mori move to the door, his gaze following after him in a wary manner. The guys at the school were relentless fools, in his opinion, and though they hadn't done much to divert their customers their presence was becoming a nuisance. For this reason it did not surprise him to hear that they had decided to annoy him further. To disguise the disgust rising in him, Kyoya turned his head away from Teagan slightly, his eyes locking quickly upon his clipboard as his slender fingers curled around it tightly. "Such is not allowed," he spoke in a tone that could be considered cold, but only if someone had listened closely to it. "Please see to it that no such gentlemen enter, if you would. Unless you approve of the idea, Teagan?"
|
She was thankful of his statement, but she also wanted to help him out in anyway she could. If she could be more profitable to the club, and he wanted that, she would. "Kyoya-san... If... If it would help your profits any, I will." She said softly. "If you wish it. "B-besides, if it takes place in here, it's overseen, so nothing bad could happen, right?" She just really wanted to be useful to the people who'd helped her in anyway she could. "It's ultimately your choice."
|
Kyoya listened, jaw still tense, then ground his teeth together once as he thought to himself. What his problem was, he was still piecing together, but he was uncomfortable with the idea, and that was enough for him to shake his head at her offer. Whether or not her presence had initially stirred his thoughts of profit, he was thinking no such thing now. In fact, even if he did, her presence here was making them money enough to cover for the visits of plenty of guests. The desserts usually purchased were not cheap to say the least and the women of the school seemed distressed by her attendence. "There are more pressing manners than profits," he spoke lowly after a moment, then pushing his glasses up further along his nose before turning his back to the group to move over to his desk in the corner of the room. There it was quiet, there he could think, there he could forget about the men bustling outside. One of his hands rose to run through his hair, rustling it messily, when he suddenly felt a pair of hands on his shoulders.
"If she would like to, perhaps you should let her?" asked Tamaki, who stood behind him casually. Kyoya murmured his answer in an uncharacteristic manner, "If she would like to, allow it. If so, see to it that Mori watches her closely." Tamaki in turn would nod once, then waltzing back on over to to where Teagan stood, "If you'd really like to?" |
Whether he was thinking monetary or not, she still wanted to do as much as she could for the club. She bit her lip. She was nervous. "I... I guess that would be okay." She whispered as she stood, straightened her gown, and moved to a table. "I will do this, just this one time. That way you don't get a reputation for turning down costumers." She said. She sat down quietly, her hands clasped demurely in her lap. She looked every bit the part of a Italian renaissance maiden. And so, the door was let open, and in walked a student with long, silverly blonde hair tied back, and icy steel blue eyes. "Ah, mon ami, I'd heard you'd come here... But I couldn't believe until I saw it!" He said he strolled to the table she sat at. Her eyes widened in some undetermined emotion, involving shock, and something not altogether pleasant.
"Ah... Demitri... Never thought I'd see you here." She said quietly, looking off to the side. It seemed the two knew each other. |
As he heard the words that caused his wariness to multiply, Kyoya's gaze moved very slowly towards the doors where the student had been let in. Then following him steadily as he went to sit with Teagan, who fit the part he had given her all too well. Then drawing himself to look back down at his desk of papers, he shook his head slightly. What was there to worry about? It was only when they spoke to one another that some switch in his mind flipped, his gaze snapping back up towards them once more. Thry knew each other.
Behind Kyoya, the twins merger, one hand firmly upon each of the frustrated, dark-haired student's shoulders. "Looks like they know each other," one cooed sweetly. "Maybe they're old lovers? He's back to reclaim her, take her out of our club's hands," the other chimed, sending a slight chill down Kyoya's neck. "He's just who she's been waiting for," the other added. After a few minutes of this taunting, Kyoya stood up, brushing off their shoulders to exit the room. Tamaki stood in awe, blinking in surprise dumbly as his head turned to watch his friend up and leave. Then sighing to himself, he grinned, gaze turning to the gentleman Teagan was sitting with. He approached in a friendly manner, "You two are friends?" |
Before Teagan could say a thing, the man spoke up. "Non, Teagan is... Teagan will be my wife... Someday." He declared cheerfully. "I just must win her over." At that point there was an audible clap of skin to skin as she facepalmed. "This is Demitri De Briquet... And he thinks he's funny." She said in a tone that seemed like it was joking, but was heavily laden with sarcasm under the surface." Demitri frowned. "Surely you wish to marry a life long friend." He chided. She instinctively looked for Kyoya to save her and realized he was not in the room. "Ah... You're such a kidder, Demitri." For a brief moment a dangerous sort of anger flashed through his look, but then settled into a calm, certain sort of grin. "We'll just see about that, mon ami." He said in a tone that dripped of honey and venom. Such a tone made her swallow a bit nervously. She quickly dropped her eyes to the hands clasped in her lap.
Demitri looked to Tamaki. "With all due respect, I have no interest in a male host, so if you would kindly leave me to the services I've paid for, I'd appreciate it greatly." |
Once outside the room, Kyoya rested his head upon the door, his back pressed up against it as his gaze was drawn out the window. He stared at nothing in particular, though his eyes were locked in place, calculating something. Soon enough he heard the first few words the man sitting with Teagan spoke, and that was enough for him. Teagan was engaged. That was it for Kyoya. Recklessly, he turned abruptly to swing open the door in a frustrated fashion, only to then catch the rest of the conversation they were sharing.
Watching from the other side of the room, the twins caught this, and their wry smiles dissipated as they talked lowly amongst each other. "He's peeved," one commented with a small shrug. "And clueless for once," the other added knowingly, the two then glancing at each other before shrugging in unison and walking off to tend to their customers. The honey dripping from the man's tone disgusted Kyoya, but he had entered soon enough to see the flash of anger towards Teagan flash across his face and the returning nervousness from her. Kyoya was unsure of why this bothered him so, but he was so riled up he acted on a whim. walking up briskly, he plants one of his hands firmly upon the table between the two, his eyes narrowed upon the man sitting with her. "With all due respect, I'll be asking you to leave now. Unless you'd prefer to be escorted out, the door is over there, sir," he spoke coldly, his hand gesturing as if in a polite rhino towards the open door he had ended through. "You can forget about a refund." |
He stood looking bored, then put on a lazy grin as he looked Kyoya up and down, as though sizing him up. Demitri seemed to deem Kyoya as not work the fight because his grin drifted into a smug, bored one. "You seem off ruffled, but as you wish sir. I don't need the petty pocket change you speak of. Good day." He said as he turned to walk out, but before he did, he looked back with a smirk at Teagan. "If you care for the bakery, you'll reconsider..." He warned. The tone he used with her left her trembling a little bit as he walked out. She looked down, her eyes clenched tight as her fists balled in her lap. Her breaths seemed to get a little bit shallow.
|
Kyoya's gaze would remain steady upon him aware that he was being sized up but not seeming intimidated in the least. The simple fact was that he had no interest in whatever threats this man could pose to him, and after thinking about it found that there was most likely no true threat that he could use to injure him with. He watched him walk out with a blank facial expression, the only exception his cold, narrow eyes that remained steady upon his back as he walked out the doors. Then his attentions were collected in the opposite direction, and he adjust himself to be crouching besides Teagan, allowing her her space but getting onto her level so he could speak with her. As he saw how nervous she seemed, he placed one of his hands upon her shoulder in an uncertain manner, though meant to console hear. "What does he mean?" he asks her warily, wondering just what kind of threat this guy would pose to her.
