Nu uh. We're British, we've got the weirdness down to a tee, too [nerner]

RoadToGallifrey 10-12-2012 03:41 PM

You'll never meet anyone weirder than a Brit haha [lol]

jellysundae 10-12-2012 03:42 PM

Plus you're currently outnumbered, and we're female.

So, you were saying... [whatev]

RoadToGallifrey 10-12-2012 03:44 PM

*sips tea*

There's no way you can come out on top of this, Poet. [lol]

The Wandering Poet 10-12-2012 03:44 PM

I dunno... you British are quite normal to me...

jellysundae 10-12-2012 03:45 PM

Trying to keep out of trouble now, see [lol]

RoadToGallifrey 10-12-2012 03:46 PM

Have you ever been to Britain? xD

The Wandering Poet 10-12-2012 03:47 PM

No, but I want to. >w< people here are too boring!

jellysundae 10-12-2012 03:54 PM

I think conservative would be a good term to use? I learnt long ago that you can easily offend some American people because many don't laugh at themselves the way we do.

The Wandering Poet 10-12-2012 04:29 PM

Poet finds the British humor pretty funny compared to American humor. Plus I've noticed that the British don't taboo stupid stuff like words... at least all the stuff that doesn't get censored or banned here.

RoadToGallifrey 10-12-2012 04:49 PM

Quite a lot of topics of conversation are taboo here, stiff upper lip and all that.

jellysundae 10-12-2012 05:48 PM

I'll tell you what the issue is (as I see it [ninja]) People forget that we're two entirely different nations, because we speak the same language...

But English really is the only thing that is relatively the same.

As a Brit, let's list the things I have to bear in mind if I visit a foreign country:

1. Drive on the wrong side of the road.
2. Use different money
3. Different customs
4. Different LAWS
5. Different legal ages for stuff
6. Language barrier problems
7. Different illnesses that hardly anyone has in the UK
8. Different biting/poisonous animals/insects that we don't have in the UK
9. Different food
10. Different religions
11. Different racial intolerances
12. Different things that are socially acceptable
12. Different health care so big problems if you fall ill.

The list goes on and on...

Am I talking about France here, or India, or China?

No, America...

As superficially alike as the UK and the US may seem. They are actually poles apart.

RoadToGallifrey 10-12-2012 05:54 PM

I agree 100% with what you've said there :) Even within countries in Britain there are pretty huge differences.

jellysundae 10-12-2012 06:04 PM

OMG, tell me about it xD The old North/South divide and all that xD Of course that exists in the US too, but it's reversed. For them, it's Southerners who get looked down upon as being ignorant inbreed idiots etc. Then the country vs. town thing. Jesus. Why are we like this?

Actually, I know. This is racial memory at work. Back when we were living in caves, and had to defend our territory because there wasn't enough food to support more people in that area, we'd have fought others off.

These days, that build in survival habit is still there, but it's superfluous now. So instead, we're arseholes to anyone who's different from us [stare]

We're bloody mental mate! Seriously one night in the heart of Essex is enough to make you want to never come back O.O

The Wandering Poet 10-13-2012 06:57 PM

Never come back? Why's that. I can handle mental. I went to public school =.= I saw plenty of mental people...

Grumman_Goose 10-13-2012 08:41 PM

You haven't seen Essex. I've seen enough for ever... I get happy when I see the Welcome to [Insert other county next to Essex] sign...

The Wandering Poet 10-13-2012 08:43 PM

Do explain. I'm curious what makes them so crazy

Grumman_Goose 10-14-2012 12:17 AM

its like another world... everyone goes partying, its tacky, everyone might as well have "made in China" tattooed to their forehead with the amount of hairdye that is used, fake tan every where you go, and chavs... Essex is chav central... See you have Harlow... its still in the 70's and just disgusting, I despise having to go there but alas I should... basically... its the scumbags that live here and treat life as a joke... going nothing but sitting on their arises all day and then partying till god knows when... causing a ruckus at 4am... in short... don't come to Essex gorgeous your own personal well being...

RoadToGallifrey 10-14-2012 01:03 AM

Plot Twist: GG is actually a massive chav and is partying as we speak

The Wandering Poet 10-14-2012 02:21 AM

Oh... sounds like home... =.= partying idiots who don't do anything with their life.

Poet doesn't like parties... so poet would avoid those types of places in general in any country

RoadToGallifrey 10-14-2012 02:38 AM

Best ignore Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow if you ever go to Scotland then haha

The Wandering Poet 10-14-2012 04:13 AM

I think I've seen enough rain for a lifetime tyvm XD
