Kera looked at herself in the mirror. Hair? Perfect, pink, and shiny. Lipgloss? Perfect pink and shiny. Boobs? Just plain perfect. She fixed her spagetti-strapped top and walked out of the bathroom to see her mother yelling into her cellphone.
"No! Don't do that! You'll drive them away and we need this sale to get the bonus!" she was saying, probably talking to her assistant, Stephanie. Kera's brother Miles walked into the living room. "Hey Vampira, it ain't Halloween yet. Go back into your coffin." he said cornily. Kera rolled her eyes. "It is picture day. And my twins are gonna help me have a better picture than the Hawkins twins." she said condfidently. Miles scrunched his face up and walked into the kitchen. Teri Aldren slapped her phone shut. If we lost the Morgans, I'ma kill that bitch." she huffed. Teri was always fuming about some sale going to waste all because of Stephanie. Real estate was no joke to her. Kera sat on the couch and ate part of her breakfast bagel. "Y'know, momma, you can use a lil' bit of magic to change the outcomes of these things every once in a while..." she suggested. Teri rolled her eyes. "That's against the Magic Rules. Don't you ever read the book? It's been around for around a million years." Teri said, poofing a fat book out of thin air and handing it to Kera. She flipped it to a page and began to recite. "Thou may not use magic for the benefit of money in any unjust ways. That's what is says. If I were to do that, I'd get my powers taken away. I know, I know. You don't care. But I tell you these things just so you'll be able to stay on the safe side." Teri began. Kera looked over at the clock on the DVD player. It was 8:31 am. Perfect time to dodge a lecture."Sorry mom. Gotta go. Can't be late on picture day." she said, dodging out the door. |
"Maribelle! Marianne! Get your asses down here and eat some breakfast" the seemingly harsh though affectionately meant call roused only one twin from bed. The only twin that was left in bed Marianne. Maribelle had already been up and was getting ready in the bathroom.
"She's impossible to wake up mother, might as well just splash a bucket of water on her head. You would think that today of all days she would get up on time, but noo. Anne loves her sleep" the blonde twin flounced down the steps long blonde hair swinging from the quick jump off the third step to the bottom. A girl with long black bed head appeared downstairs in a poof of flashy purple smoke rubbing her red eyes and yawning. Despite the fact that Marianne and Maribelle were twins they looked different in two major ways eye color and hair color, where Marianne had black hair and red brown eyes, Maribelle had blonde hair and green blue eyes. "Oh be quiet Belle not all of us like to get up when the roster crows" Marianne's famous grouchiness in the morning was shinning through. About twenty minutes later one twin had eaten while the other ran downstairs and grabbed a bagel on their way out to school. "Don't fail out or start the next witch hunt" their mother called from the door waving at her daughters who were walking towards their school. "Wonder what Kera's going to be wearing today" Maribelle mused out loud shifting her bag to her other shoulder. "If it shows off her chest then it's the perfect thing for her" Marianne supplied with a laugh. The alarm clock at his bedside went off, not that he had gone to bed but it was programmed to go off at six promptly every morning. But last night Thomas had gotten so into his research that once again he had skipped sleep and read and took notes through the night instead. For the past seven years he had dedicated himself to the study of magic and thus far had discovered certain things preciously unknown of before. Running a hand through his unruly dark hair he went downstairs and used his magic to get himself something to eat. Which mainly involved pouring some cereal. Although he dedicated himself to magic he still had to make a living, small as it was so he had gotten himself a degree in teaching and he subbed when needed. It provided him a small profit though he knew if he wanted to expand his learning he would one day need the money to. The phone rang loud and shrill. "Yeah?" he answered with no attempt at politeness, it was a sub job the math teacher was out sick today. |
Kera reached the school at exactly 9, which meant she had 10 minutes until she was considered late. She rushed over to Nate Oarks locker and tapped him on the shoulder from behind.
"Guess who?" she asked sweetly. Nate turned around, his face red with annoyance. "Hey, Ki Ki. What'chu want?" he asked as he turned back around. "Hey, Ki Ki. What'chu wont? Blah blah blah. I don't care. Why you so damn mean? It's fuckin' Friday. You should be happy." Kera said, imitating his angry tone. "Y'know, fuck you, Kera. I heard what you said to Delilah. About... what I said.." Nate said, slamming his locker. Delilah was his "soul mate". They'd been dating for a whole year. Then supposedly, someone told her Nate's second biggest secret, and she dumped him. Just like that. And everyone, especially Nate, thought it was Kera who'd said it. Of course, Kera didn't even know what the secret was. "Nate, why don't you trust me? We been friends since frickin' Freshman year! Why would I do that to you? I mean, sure, I hate that chick, but I wouldn't ruin your relationship 'cause of it." Kera defended herself. Nate began walking to class, his books tucked under his arm. Kera sighed and walked into the bathroom. It was clear. She chose the last stall, her favorite, and began saying her "special" spell. |
"Would you hurry up you slowpoke geez Anne if you were any slower you would be going backwards" her watch read five to nine and while Maribelle was sprinting Marianne was more or less meandering up the front walk into school shaking her head Belle pushed open the door and ended up flat on her rear as she ran into something big and bulky.
"Ouch" she stood slowly rubbing her rear and straightening the skirt that managed to flip up just a little. Thankfully the only person behind her was Marianne. "Smooth move klutz" Anne mumbled into the now frozen in place girls ear. Her sisters crush a football team member was looking down at her with what looked like it could have been concern but on such a stupid face it was hard to tell. Marianne was totally confused as to why her smart sweet sister could like such a stupid guy. Belle said he was sweet but frankly Anne couldn't get past the thick skull part. "Ya okay?" Erik a blocking guard on the football team looked down about one and a half feet at Maribelle who looked utterly speechless, so Anne did the talking for her. "She's okay big boy. Don't you worry your pretty little head about it" he looked confused for a moment but nodded and turned on his way. The day had turned out hotter then he thought it would much to his dismay Thomas preferred a colder climate but it couldn't be helped. Edging around two witches, yes he knew they were witches in this area they all had to know one another, the Hawkins twins, he made his way towards his classroom. Or the classroom the math class was supposed to take place in. One of the twins followed him in the blonde one while the black haired one waved and went on her own way to another classroom, English the sign said. |
Kera couldn't help smiling as she watched Nadine Richards, Delilah's best friend, gab to Nate and tell him what she'd heard Kera "say".
"She told her everything! About how you said that you thought she was your soul mate, and how you wanted to make her your... first... y'know" the tiny holagram image of Nadine was saying. She'd always been one to eavesdrop. The image played out clearly in Kera's hand... literaly. The little tiny figures of the highschoolers walked around in her palm, talking and revealing. Telling vicious lies. Kera snapped her hand shut and opened the stall. She tapped her head and the time flashed in her brain. It was 2 minutes till 9:10. Kera rushed out of the bathroom and to her locker to gather her things. A familiar hand grabbed her from behind. "Damien, GTFO." she said, turning around quickly. But instead of Dong-head Damien Rivera, it was her bestie Deraya Myers. They began walking to room 211, where they had first period. "You seen Nate anywhere?" Deraya asked. Her crush on Nate had always annoyed Kera. She always wanted to talk about him, look at him, daydream about him. Anything to do with Nate, Deraya was all over. She'd even pitched an idea to Kera once about starting a Nate fan-club. Of course, Kera had vetoed that idea as soon as it escaped the girl's lips. But that's just the way Deraya was. The girls slowly sauntered to math class and walked in perkily, confidently traveling to their seats. "He's still uber-pissed at me for what Nadine said to him about me." Kera explained. Deraya looked at her confusedly. Even her own best friend didn't know the truth. What a cruel world. |
The class filed in slowly too earlier in the morning for most of them to be a very perky bunch, save a few. Turning away from the class he wrote his name on the board in a clear strong hand. Mr. William to some it would seem very stuffy for a young sub like him to use his last name but he preferred to stay professional.
The lesson plan on the desk was just for the students to complete two worksheets and whatever they didn't finish in class was homework. Scanning the paper with disinterested eyes he set them back down on the cluttered teacher's desk. At the very least he could help the students if they asked him for some help. "Belle. Did you finish the homework last night?" Jasmine Naiden one of their best friends leaned over tugging open Belle's backpack without even waiting for her to put it down and digging through it. If anyone finished their homework it would be Belle. "Yes I did but that doesn't mean I'm going to let you copy off of me" she snatched the papers back setting them down on her desk with a small glance at the sub. "Anne! Anne! Did ya hear?" a rather plump young woman with dark brown hair pulled to a stop in front of the dark haired twin. It was Ashley Louis an old childhood friend. They weren't very close anymore but Ashley was always a good place for the juiciest gossip. "No I didn't hear now spill your guts metaphorically of course" Nate Oraks broke up with his girlfriend" she said with relish a gleam in her piggy eye. "Really weren't they like joined at the hip or something?" Anne asked shifting her English book to her other arm, they were standing right outside the English room chatting despite the teachers glare. Finally succumbing they went to their seats but carried on their conversation with Nina a girl who always tried to get on the twins good side. "Nate and Delilah broke up? This is good for those of us who think Nat Oarks is a major hotty" she said with an annoying giggle tossing her red hair |
Kera wondered why Nate could be so mad over thinking someone had told Delilah he loved her. Also, why did she break up with him over that??? Shouldn't she be flattered? Kera knew for a fact that if Deraya were in her shoes she'd probably faint for the rest of her life she'd be so happy. She needed to know more. It was time for one of those things Kera called, "Kera's Special Detective Time". She'd use a bunch of "special" spells and eventually get the answer from something. And alot of truth would have to come from Nadine and Delilah. Kera looked up.
'Oh no...' Kera thought as Damien walked in. He sat directly next to her, and he was always gawking at her because she had the biggest chest in the school. Kera knew how gifted she was but it'd be nice for him to at least be a tad discreet. "Hey, beautiful? Ya come here often?" he began with his first stupid line of the day. "Yeah, dumb-ass. This is my first class. Don't you have some slut-scoping to do? Or did the cheerleaders start wearing undershorts?" Kera said back. Damien chuckled and began doodeling in his notebook. Deraya scrunched her face as he finished a drawing of 2 girls in bikinis sitting on a car. Kera went back to planning her Detective Time. |
"So only about five people then" Anne smiled at the looks on both girls faces, it was widely acknowledged at least among most girls that Nate Oarks was in the top five of their schools hotties list. Anne had to agree okay yes he was cute but she didn't like him.
"What are you crazy? Just look at him you can bake cookies on him he's so hot" Nina's face went slack and doopy eyed as she thought about the subject of their conversation Nate. "God, Nina keep it in your pants" Marianne laughed imagining the look on her sisters all too innocent face if she heard some of the conversations Anne had. "Wonder how long the line will be for the girls that want to go out with him. Think I have a chance?" she asked looking between Nina and Anne hopefully, of course they told her but honestly Anne didn't think so. Not that she would hurt Ashley's feelings that way. [b]"Oh come on Bella!" Jas whined replacing the Belle with Bella because she knew how much Maribelle hated Twilight and anything related to it. Belle knew the reason she was calling her Bella and threw her a glare. "No you should have done your own homework lazy" she called over her shoulder as the sub came around to collect all their homework with a rather bored expression |
As soon as lunch time came around, Kera went into the bathroom to do step 2 of her detective work; investigation of Nadine's motive. She knew that Nadine hated her, but why would she do such a thing? And how did she convince Delilah into thinking that Nate's love was bad? Kera walked into the biggest stall and conjured up another hand-holagram. This time, a computer screen was visible. Kera could see that it was Nadine's, and she could also see what she was writing. She was talking to Delilah, telling her that Nate had been hitting on her a little bit lately, and that she'd seen him hit on Kera a couple of times too. Delilah initially didn't believe it, but after some heavy convincing, she was sold. Kera shocked and slapped her hand shut. Everyone knew a different story! Nate, who hated people to know that he had actual feelings, had been revealed as a sweetheart, which had made him mad. And when he thought that Kera had said it, he got angry. Then, Delilah thought he was cheating on her, so she had to break up with him. And Nadine could have Nate all to herself, without Kera to convince him that she was a dud. Kera heard the lunch bell ring, which meant detective time was over. But she had gotten all the information she needed.
