The bells on Yoshi's costume jiggled as he swirled in confusion. "Hello!" He called out to random passer byes, the silence he got from them was unnerving. "Uyada!" He called out once again. He ran pass the people in the street as he continued looking for his younger brother, a eerie feeling came to him as he felt alone and lost. When he tried to think back to when he last saw his brother a racing pain shot through his head, making it hard for him to search for his lost brother.

The highway they were passing along was busy, filled with passing families and business people--nothing much to really look at. But in this car that Haru had been in for hours, she was left with nothing but to stare out the window. Her phone was dead, so was her mp3 player. Her laptop was pointless, and she had finished the book she brought in the car with her an hour ago.

Moving.

The one word that Haru was so sure she'd never hear. But when Tohru, her older sister, had gone missing for two years and her body was found just a few months ago all rotted and dead, it gave every reason for them to leave the place they came to knew so well and never look back. But it didn't bother Haru. Only Haru. She would have been happy to stay home and get over what had happened, but her parents had found it too painful. So moving to a small town in Florida was her parent's excuse.

Haru just didn't want this. New friends, forced to having to start over, getting used to new people, getting used to new styles, and having to pretend that what had happened back in Ohio didn't happen just didn't appeal to her. It just caused more and more teenage angst to build up inside her, bottled up until it would explode.

"We're almost there, Rue!" her father sounded with so much fake enthusiasm. He was trying. She had to give that to him.

Haru remained silent. Hopefully, just hopefully, something good would happen in the new place of her new life. Maybe she'd find someone to make her forget all the angst and the fact that she doesn't want to be in Florida. But time would only tell and so would Fate.

Finally Yoshi came to a old forgotten church, he remembered his brother and him playing in it as children. If they ever got lost they promised to meet each other here. That's one of the things he remembered of his brother before he was alone.

"Uyada?" He called out in side of the church, when no answer came. He decided to sit at the bottom of the service alter. "Uyada, what happened to you?" He said sadly. His brother was the last of his family; his live was empty without him.

(Sorry for the long post! Didn't really want to rush into anything, so I decided to take my time! :) )

The house was big. Bigger than the one back in Ohio. It made it feel like it belonged in the 1800s, but that was just Haru's opinion. She looked around her room, which was set up about an hour ago, and looked at the time. Ten o' clock and she wasn't even close to tired. The time change was a big deal for her. Her parents were already in bed, fast asleep, but Haru had no plans of sleeping any time soon. She had two weeks before she started school, so she had until then to get a sleeping schedule properly made.

Her mother had told her that she could roam around town, since it was small, but she wasn't so sure. Her mother had always given her the free will to go where she pleases due to them knowing that she could take care of herself due to her Karate classes back in Ohio and the fact that they knew that she wasn't the type to stay out all day and never come home and such.

I need to go for a walk, she thought as she got in her closet and grabbed her burgundy sweat jacket and slipped her feet into her ballet flats, adjusting her skinny jeans as she pulled down her black tee shirt that crumpled up a bit as she put on her jacket. She grabbed her fully-charged cell phone and put it in her back pocket and turned off her light, tip-toeing downstairs where she grabbed the house key and exited the house. The night was warm, but it had a soft, gentle, and cool breeze that caused Haru to be comfortable in her jacket. The weather was just perfect. A full moon hung in the distant diamond sky and she began walking.

It felt as if she had been walking forever, taking in where she was walking, the roads, and such so she could find her way back home. She had an amazing memory, which was a great thing for times like this. She suddenly stopped when an old abandoned-looking church stood in view at the end of the empty street she was walking along. Curious and feeling adventurous, she approached the church.

The door wasn't blocked shut, which surprised Haru. The door opened with a loud, echoing creak as moonlight spilled into the dusty, old church. The moonlight was bright enough so Haru could see everything. She slowly walked forward, her eyes looked all over the place, taking in the beautiful sight.

( It's okay, my time is coming to a end soon. I'm been short for the moment, but I could make it longer if you like. )

"Uyada... where are you?" He whispered to himself, he had been in deep thought the whole time he was in the church; not aware it even turned dark. Memories flooded his mind but nothing useful to finding the whereabouts of his brother.

"Ichi, I made a drawing for you." A soft voice of a ten year old called to him within his head. He smiled as he saw the poorly drawn picture of stick figures. "That's mom in heaven." The voice said once again. Yoshi had no idea why his brother called him Ichi; but he missed it more then anything at the present. Their father had abandoned them after their mother had gotten sick, making him take care his mother and little brother. Losing his brother made him feel worthless, it was his job to watch him and he failed. His eyes filled with tears at the self blame, why didn't he remember what happened...

His thought was broken by the church door opening, his heart leap in his chest at the thought of it being his little brother. "Uyada!?" He called out as he jumped up from sitting and turned towards the door; his heart ached when he saw a girl in the doorway. He remained hidden in the shadows as he looked down, he didn't bother calling to her... she wouldn't hear anyways.

(Just stick with whatever length you want.)

Haru froze as a gust of wind blew through the church, ruffling her long, wavy blonde hair. She tucked her hair back behind her ears and scrunched her eyebrows together. Was that her imagination or did she hear a male voice call out "Uyada"? Her heart beat began to race as she looked around once more. She saw nothing. "Who's there?" she asked as she walked deeper into the church. "I'm a black belt..." she warned. She kept her eyes pealed for any sign of movement, but the shadows of the night made it hard.

Faded Beauty 03-08-2012 03:51 AM

He rose an eyebrow in confusion. 'Did she... just hear me?' He thought to himself. He came out of the shadows and stood on the small stairs at the front of the church. "Did... you just, hear me?" He asked slowly out loud, his oriental ascent very light and calm. He hoped he wasn't imagining things, if he was, it was a cruel trick.

Junabelle 03-08-2012 04:06 AM

Haru froze, looking over to the stairs where a figure stood in full-view. He looked like a projection, but maybe it was just the lighting. She took a step back, surprised slightly, and stared at the guy. He looked to be her age, and he also looked to be...lost? She wasn't sure, but interest and curiosity nagged at the back of her soul. Even though they say that curiosity often leads to trouble, she couldn't help it. "What do you mean? Can't everyone hear you?" she asked, staring at the way he was dressed. Different, but it suited him well enough. Maybe he was lost. Like, a lot.

Faded Beauty 03-12-2012 05:03 PM

Yoshi gasped out with mix emotions, it was more of excitement rather then shock. This girl could hear him, this blonde and beautiful girl was able to see, and talk to be. "Oh my Tsuki-Yumi, thank you." He whispered barely above a whisper. "I would hug you right now if you didn't look like you would beat me up... but to answer you're question. Yes, you're the first to talk to me since I woke up."

He then noticed the girl looking at how he was dressed. "Oh, right... forgive the outfit. My younger brother wanted to celebrate the demon festival and got me to dress up for it." He said smiling nervously.

Junabelle 03-13-2012 03:06 AM

Haru blinked. Since he woke up? Was he a homeless person? Maybe he was crazy. But somehow, Haru didn't feel as shocked as you'd think someone would be in this situation. She tilted her head to the side slightly and gave a small smile, looking at his outfit again. "The Demon Festival? What's that?" she asked, curious and suddenly sparked with interest. This was really distracting her from her current problem, which was a great thing. Wait, not just great, amazing.

Thinking this to be a dream, she couldn't help but ask, "Are you a ghost?" she asked in a smaller voice than usual. She felt suddenly shy, realizing that she was never good around boys. Let alone the ones who seemed to be her age. He was handsome, a really good looker, which made her shy all the more. Maybe he could be her first new friend in this place of strangers. It would definitely take some time for her to get used to everything.

Faded Beauty 03-15-2012 01:30 AM

He was taking back by the questions she asked. 'A ghost...' He thought to himself, it was a odd question to ask someone. Yet the question couldn't help but make him wonder, his facial expressions surely mixed with his thoughts. He looked down then answered quietly after a small period of time. "I... don't know. It would make sense..." He said sadly.

His eyes shifted on the ground, tears filling his eyes. If he was a ghost his brother would be alone in the world or worse. "Uyada..." He whispered his brother's name. Looking up weakly at the girl; he held out his hand. "If I am dead, then you should go right threw me; correct?" He said curiously with sadness still lingering in his voice.

Junabelle 03-16-2012 03:52 AM

She tilted to her head to the side as she twisted her expression into even more curiosity. And when she saw the sadness in his holographic eyes, she felt a pang of guilt. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. That was so incredibly rude of me to ask! My mom warned me about speaking without thinking..." she said, covering her face in embarrassment. She then took her hands away from her face and looked at the boy, puffing a sigh directed at herself. "Is...Uyada a family member?" Haru asked in a much softer and gentler voice, hoping she didn't ask the wrong question again.

She stared at his extended hand. He has a valid point, she thought to herself, though she's heard of different stories about different ghosts. Some can be touched only if wanted and some weren't meant to be of any matter. With a shaky hand, she hovered hers above his for a hesitant moment before she dropped it down only for it to be caught in the weight of his hand. An electric shock stung her hand in a mental way. She quickly drew her hand back. "I can touch you..."

Faded Beauty 03-21-2012 07:17 PM

He nodded his head to her other question, still confused on why she was able to touch, talk and see him while no other seemed to. "Uyada... is my younger brother. When my mother died I promised to watch over him, and I failed..." He said looking down at the ground, the tears that once filled his eyes ran down his face.

He let his hand drop down to his side after she touched it, his head filled with thoughts. 'Was the stories his mother told him true...' He shook his head is disagreement. "No, they can't be." He looked at the girl, hoping he wouldn't offend her by his fallowing statements. "This doesn't make any sense, you are the only one that has talked to me; the only one that can see me... you can even touch me. If I am dead then how is that possible?" He started pasting back and forth on the top of the stairs slowly and slightly dramatically.

"My mother told me stories of ghost. She told me that where she is from there is only one kind of person able to see, touch and speak to them; a witch or a medium, which ever you prefer. They help the dead to pass on peacefully or turn them into something; rather a good or evil spirit. Depending on the witch..." He came to a stop and looked at the girl, fearful of her reaction he asked softly. "You're not one are you?"

Junabelle 03-22-2012 02:25 AM

She had thought long and hard as she listened to him talking. She watched as he paced back and forth before her as she crossed her arms over her chest. It all made sense. Witch or Medium. Her ancestors were Witches, but her mom was sure it hadn't been passed down this far in the family generations. But, like she thought, it made sense. There was no doubt that he was a ghost. And she always knew that ghosts couldn't be seen, heard, or touched by normal people. So maybe she really was a Witch.

"My...ancestors were Witches...but I was told that it couldn't be passed down so far in the family generations," she told him as she cupped her own chin with her thumb and index finger. She sighed and put her hands down at her sides, shaking her head. "This is impossible. I must have fallen asleep at home. Maybe it was that late dinner I had before bed," she said aloud.

Faded Beauty 03-26-2012 07:55 PM

Yoshi's heart stopped when she announced her family had witches, when she said it couldn't be passed down to her generations; he lightly scoffed. "The gene will always be passed down. It just stays dormant til the future witch is really to be trained... That is what I was told..." He looked at her carefully. 'A dream...' He thought still looking at her; if it was dream it didn't make sense. "I'm sorry to burst your bubble... but... I don't believe this is a dream. If it was, then why a girl or boy we never met? We're both dreaming of the same thing that's far too detail for a dream."

He sighed before sitting down on the stairs. He rubbed his face with his hands, his hands were shaking from the shock of really being dead. He didn't even know how he died or what happened to his brother. "I... don't even know how I died." He said barely over a whisper. After a small period of silence he looked at the girl and smiled lightly. "You know for a witch, your quite beautiful." He said trying not to offend her.

Junabelle 03-27-2012 01:29 AM

Haru froze at the sound of the word 'beautiful'. No one had ever called her that before. Her bottom lip quivered for a moment, but she had stopped it and took self-control in hand. She looked over at the boy. "What's your name?" she asked. If this was real, she wanted to know him. About four things she was sure about him. One, he was a ghost. Two, he just proved to her her one dream -- she was a witch. Three, there was something about him she couldn't put her finger on, that caused something to stir within her. Four...she wanted to see him more.

Faded Beauty 03-27-2012 01:53 AM

His smile turned into a full one, it wasn't as bright as it use to be; little dimmer now that he was transparent but still one that could light up. "My name is Kiyoshi, but most people just call me Yoshi. What's your name?" He asked nicely, he was curious about her. If she was a witch like the stories his mother told him, his after life just got interesting.

Junabelle 03-31-2012 11:04 PM

Haru giggled happily, her shoulders shaking with her laughter as she put her hand out before her out of habit. "I'm Haru! It's a pleasure to meet you, Yoshi. It's really nice to know someone now that I'm new in town," she said. Her hand was still extended, unable to realize that ghosts can't touch humans. But then she realized it. Her smile disappeared. "Oh," she said as she took her hand back, "sorry..."

Faded Beauty 04-04-2012 05:04 PM

He shook his head slightly in disapproval. "Don't apologize." He said, the smile never left his face but lightened up. "I'm still not use to it either." He stopped smiling and looked down, forgetting he wasn't alive was one thing he didn't want her to apologize for.

He smirked lightly and looked at the girl. "If I knew I was going to become a ghost and meet a beautiful girl; I wouldn't have dressed like this." He said chuckling, he felt like a idiot dressed like that. "Spending eternity dressed as a Kitsume is going to be awkward." He said trying to lighten the mood. His hair was naturally a raven black but he had dyed it orange for his brother the night before the festival, he also wasn't use to showing his chest off but allowed it just this once... little did he know he would be stuck like this.
