My cat snores.

Oh hai :3
The other day, I was sitting on my couch playing COD when I heard this weird muffled noise coming from somewhere I couldn't quite place. I paused the game but the sound continued. I got up and when I moved, my cat did too. That's when the sound stopped. I sat back down and continued my game.

The next day, my mom told me she heard my cat snoring. He's fat, so that kind of makes sense :P I was just reminded of this when my cat started doing it a second ago while sitting in my lap. Hehe, funny kitty.

BOOM: Discussion.
~Do you have pets that have weird things that they do?
~If so, what?

Also; he fetches.

Serenus 03-13-2012 02:12 AM

My cat snores too! It's really kind of cute but it scared me the first few times. :/ He does it when he's on his back. He's also fat. <3

Nonsensical 03-13-2012 02:20 AM

lol I just found out a few days ago that my cat snores. Or maybe I just rediscovered. He's not very fat though... =/
When I was younger, I taught him easy commands like sit and lay down because he was a better pupil than my dog.

Keyori 03-13-2012 02:39 AM

One of my cat snores, the other sortof wheezes. xD

My boycat loves to play fetch! And my girlcat likes to be put on a harness and leash and go on walks. We took her to the beach once but I think she was overwhelmed by the sound of the ocean. She didn't want to leave her carrier :C

Nonsensical 03-13-2012 02:55 AM

I wish I could put a leash on my cat. D; He always flops over onto his side and refuses to move whenever I try. It's kind of funny, actually.

Serenus 03-13-2012 03:00 AM

My cat refuses to be on a leash or in a carrier. He doesn't like the restriction.

Sometimes she will, especially if I'm multitasking (like trying to take the recycling out while having her on the leash).

If I just let her go where she wants though, she's pretty good about knowing that me tugging means she can't go somewhere.

And, the first moment she goes outside she'll roll around in the dirt out of sheer joy anyway xD Then she'll jump back up and go chase insects or lizards or something.

She LOVES her carrier too. She really enjoys car rides as long as they're not longer than 10 minutes (then she gets bored and wants out). Boycat hates the carrier and the car. We're getting him used to his harness (he used to just try to slip out of it and succeeded on several occasions when he was little), but he's getting better. He yowls at the door if I'm outside with girlcat

My dog snores horribly. You can usually hear it in the living room, when she is sleepign all the way upstairs in the master bedroom. It's obnoxious but oddly adorable.

She also does this snorting oinking noise when she is really excited/begging for food and overly energetic.
All the pets I ever owned seemed to do something different, that was odd in their sleep. Is just fun to watch. xD

LoveAria 03-13-2012 07:49 PM

We tried putting collars on our cats when they were kittens and we first got them, but they pulled the fetal position and rolled around on the ground crying out like they were in pain. It made me cry a little bit because I thought something was seriously wrong with them. Then I ran around the house claiming that we had brought home 'broken kitties'. It was great.

HIM_ROCK 03-13-2012 09:05 PM

The house tiger tends to do what I call num in her sleep, she's recently taken up numming, sucking, on her blankie again and it's rather weird when she starts dreaming about doing it. At three years old she's started up numming on her blankie again as a comfort thing. Plus she also tends to mummy me but that does seem to be in the breed as someone was getting rid of their bengal because mothering and it taught the todler to go toilet on the sofa.

The kitten he talks to the birdies and he talks in his sleep. We've found we can set him off talking by going hu-nununu at him.

Both of my cats play fetch from time to time and I've taught them to sit on command and beg for their treats.

Keyori 03-13-2012 09:17 PM

OH YEAH. If I make sniffing noises at girlcat, she goes BERSERK. I've been swatted a few times on the nose for it. xD

Boycat doesn't pay much heed to it though.

One of my kitties knows quite a few tricks. People think that's weird. He knows sit, stay, sit pretty, roll over, lay down, and fetch where he'll bring the toy to me if I tell him to.

Mika Rose 03-14-2012 11:03 PM

I have a cat that snores, too! I think it's because she's somewhat overweight, though. xD

It actually kind of scared me the first time I heard it, because I was sitting at my desk drawing, and suddenly I heard a strange growl-like noise beside me... and I looked down and saw my cat asleep in a basket, snoring.

As for other weird things, she also wakes my dad up every morning by "petting" his hand or arm, and if he doesn't get up, she bites him until he does. xD

This isn't *that* strange, but one of my other cats eats random foods that you wouldn't think a cat would want to eat. One day I looked outside and saw him in the alley, eating a bag of soggy potato chips that the neighbors had thrown away. And when I was younger, I remember getting him to eat Froot Loops, sherbert, and apple peels (though not all at once).

HIM_ROCK 03-14-2012 11:33 PM

Cat's do tend to eat alot of things that aren't what you'd expect them to eat and alot of people have admitted to feeding their cat fish and chips, or french fries if that's what ye calls them.

Techiro_Yugota 03-15-2012 11:48 PM

I have a girl cat that chitters like a chipmunk at bugs that find their way into the house. She also plays fetch with a ball of yarn and tries to chase the water in the toilet :stare:

lol, nice yeah it surprised me one day i was watching tv and kept hearing it and was like wtf?

CADFND 03-17-2012 12:34 AM

Both my cats snore. :P It's kind of funny because sometimes they'll get loud. XD One of them sinks her claws into the furniture and then crawls across it sideways. It's pretty hilarious. She'll also grab the toy that you're playing with (with her) and take it with her to a different location. XD She does lots of funny things.

Also, my hamster can climb up and down stairs. owo She loves to climb.

Sokta 03-17-2012 05:42 AM

Mine snores too. Heh. He's actually kind of skinny. He used to be alarmingly skinny, but he's since fattened up to normal kitty standards. : D Was just having a bit of a nerves problem, I think.

He's so funny. Every night when we close the house doors so they can't run in an out anymore, he comes running up, pounces on my chest, curls up, and goes to sleep. He's out like a light, but the way he sleeps it's so funny. He has to have his head pushed in my hand so his eyes are covered, then he crosses his arms over his chest.

I'll point my finger out thinking about something, and he'll rest his head on my finger and pass out. Hehe.

I've also walked him on a leash too. I was just holding him one day, and I picked up a leash from the dogs, looked at him, then slipped it around his neck. And he was a'okay with it.

@Keyori: Your cat names sound like my cat names. : D

mine does that to wake me up. she practically headbutts me every morning

ElysiumFate 03-17-2012 05:52 AM

Ahh, my cat snores as well, but only when she's really comfortable and feels safe where she is--so usually when she's asleep curled at my side. =3 She also twitches and meows in her sleep if she's dreaming (which is hilarious).

My cat is also a talker. Most people think I'm nuts when I say that I can "talk" to my cat, but I can--as much as a human and an animal can communicate. She's been my cat for 11 years now, and I know what her meows mean, so I'll look down at her and start asking her questions, to which she'll reply with meows. Like: you hungry? "Mrrrow." *cough* Anyway, even if I'm just yacking at her she'll wait for me to stop talking and then meow back at me like: "the hell is wrong with you crazy human?"

She also has a way of meowing very loudly at night, and I swear it sounds like either "hello" or "mama," and she always comes running when I call out to her.

Finally, I play the violin--she is very vocal in her criticisms of me when I hit the wrong notes. :ninja:

Death_to_the_reaper 03-17-2012 05:53 AM

My cat doesn't snore but sometimes my dog does.

DariaMorgendorfer 03-17-2012 05:53 AM

My cat sneezes a lot and man, is it projectile! She also likes to put her paw into her food bowl, extend her claws and pick up one bite of kibble, she then brings that bite to her mouth with her paw. It's hilarious! I think she really thinks she's a human.

Hehe. That's quite a way to wake up. : D
Does she sleep on your pillow, or just picks a time and runs up to you and headbutts..?

I have a "night time" kitty and a "day time" kitty. NightTime-Kitty does the "cover my eyes and hold me!" thing. But when I wake up in the mornings, it's always DayTime-Kitty who's sleeping on me in bed. Every morning, until I wake up and look at her. Then it's like it's her cue to stretch and hop out of bed. Hehe. Like she's just staying there as long as I am.

She follows me around like a little lost dog too, DayTime-Kitty. xD
