Bio: Hikari was a normal human being , until her dad died in an accident. She started seeing spirits. In the last year she's been able to sense them and hears unearthy noises at night. She owns family business , a bookstore, and lives in the apartment above it.

Bio:Renji grew up in the 78th district of Rukongai, Inuzuri, with several other children. Having come to Soul Society alone, they helped each other to search for their families. One day, after stealing a jug of water, Renji and his friends were chased by a kama-wielding adult. Rukia tripped the adult and urged Renji's group to follow her to avoid losing the water. Rukia joined their group and they lived together as a family. They all hated Inuzuri and the people there. Renji disliked the fact that Rukia had spiritual power like he did. Ten years after Rukia joined their group, with all of their friends dead, Rukia proposed that they become Shinigami, which Renji agreed to do. As they were quite gifted with spiritual powers, they entered the Shinō Academy with ease, where they struggled to prove their worth among those from noble families. The night before the welcoming ceremony for the new students of the Academy, Renji slept in a tree, against Rukia’s advice. The following morning, he fell out of the tree and landed on a headstone where a startled Izuru Kira had been praying. Having scored amongst the highest grades in the entrance exam, Renji was admitted into the top class along with Izuru and Momo Hinamori.
On the 19th of July, Renji was sent alongside his captain to arrest Rukia and return her to Soul Society.

Hikari hurried back toward the bookstore after she had deposited the days earnings. She also had stopped at the market to get a few things that she needed. She felt the pressure build up as she walked down the streets of the Sakurabashi district of Karakura town.She had lived in this town most of her life and never knew of the ghosts the town had, until her father had died a year ago in an accident. She now could see them and other things that were invisible to everyone else. She didn't know what the monsters she had seen and heard were, and they terrified her very much.

She also could sense something else in the air, not sure what it could be. Hikari just hoped she made it home before anything bad happened.

Renji was looking around. It was weird being in the human world... It had been a long while and having anything other than his uniform on was rather odd. He tugged at his shirt as he walked down the street.

"A hollow should be around here." He sensed it and looked around. "hm." Renji sighed.

Hikari heard one of the growls as she hurried to the side entrance that led to her apartment, tightening the grip of the grocery bags in her hands. She froze when she felt the strong wave of pressure get stronger. She knew she would be safer inside, but was afraid to move. She hated this feeling of being helpless and afraid." Get a grip Komatsu! Just turn the key in the lock and head upstairs. You don't want to be seen as crazy do you?"Hikari thought to herself trying to calm down. She saw a crimson haired man across the street and hoped he didn't see how scared she was as she unlocked the door.

Renji felt the wave of pressure strengthen and looked around to see if anyone else was in the street. He heard a sound and immediately looked back. Renji saw you unlocking her door. Can she see it? he thought to himself. He turned around as he heard a growl.

A hollow had rounded the corner and was making its way toward him. Renji wanted to make sure the woman didn't see him take out his shikai. Glancing over gave the hollow a chance to attack. Renji's reflexes took over and he took out his sword. "Zabimaru, ngh." His blade made contact with the hollows arm. The hollow screeched as its arm was torn off. In one swift move Renji cut the mask in half and the hollow vanished. He hoped you didn't see all of that as he looked back to where you were last.

Hikari saw the monster head toward her and the crimson haired man come at it with a strange looking sword. She wasn't sur what was going and hoped she wasn't losing her mind. She had got everything inside and was watching at the base of the stairs. She wasn't sure if the strangely dressed man could be trusted and hoped he didn't know she had seen the entire thing.

Renji did not see her at first. "Uhm... Hello? Anyone there?" He walked over to where he last saw you. I guess she left he thought. Renji scratched his head. "Heh, another win for me." He softly said to himself. Renji wondered if you were even real since he had only seen you for a couple seconds at most. He didn't know what to believe but her swore that he had seen a woman. Renji sat on the side of the road with a slightly audible plop. "How annoying. Hollows have been popping up everywhere lately." He eyed his own clothes and realized that he needed to buy less weird look clothes in this world.

Hikari had gone up to take care of the groceries. She was feeling scared and still wasn't sure what had happened. She finished up taking care of things, and put the bento box of teriyaki chicken, oni giri , potato salad and a taiyaki bun in the refrigerator , having lost her appetite. She decided to go back down to see if the man was still there, wanting to prove she was still sane. She had been only standing in the yard a few minutes when she felt the same strong pressure of the monsters. She looked up when she heard the unearthly growling and saw one on the building across the street. She froze and didn't know if it would go away if she just stood still.

Renji sighed, he just didn't get a break. "Darn it..." He mumbled and stood up. It only took a few seconds to find the hollow. This one was bigger and had a mask with 3 large horns at the top. Renji looked at the huge body with stubby stumps for limbs. This shouldn't take to long. He though for a few seconds before the hollow howled and growled. Renji was soon attacked and the ground beneath him had risen. He jumped up as the hollow howled again.
Renji jumped up but was having trouble finding his balance as the hollow kept making everything shake beneath him. He swung his sword and summoned his shikai once again.
After a few final swings he had killed the hollow and was catching his breath while hunched over. "Phew, that was close. Why do they keep showing up here... What is so good about this place in town...?" Renji spoke to himself softly, chest rising and falling as he still tried to regain his composure.

Hikari saw the man again as he fought the monster and hoped he was alright. She heard another growl and this time it was closer. She tried to run toward the doorway before the monster grabbed her ankle. She tensed up feeling the grip it had on her as she fell to the ground. She didn't want to die this way.

Renji heard this and swung around just in time to see it grab your ankle. "Curl up in a ball!" He yelled and ran toward you with his sword in hand again, his shikai still there. "Zabimaru!" He yelled as he killed it. He was almost totally drained but he knelt by you to see if you were okay. "You okay?" He was breathing hard.

" I think so. What about you? " Hikari asked as she got up off the ground, feeling concerned about the man. She had wanted to ask her questions , but saw that he looked very tired. She hoped he was alright. Her ankle hurt a little bit and would just wrap it up in a bandage.

He smirked trying to mask his tiredness to the beautiful woman infront of him. "I am perfectly fine, thank you." He helped you up, "Is your ankle alright?" He noticed you looked very shaken and would hold back on what he wanted to ask you.

" It hurts , but I don't think it's broken." Hikari said and tried to walk a bit, but the pain was great. She hoped she didn't have to go to the hospital, not wanting to make up a reason she needed her ankle looked at. She also didn't want to close the shop, knowing right now she really needed the money. She still felt afraid but for some reason felt safe around this stranger.

Renji didn't buy it. "Can I see your ankle?" He gestured toward it. He didn't know why he was so worried about a complete stranger but for some reason it just felt right. "Forgive me if I am going to far as to ask what your name is..." Renji was trying not to laugh at how stupid he sounded at the moment.

Hikari nodded and sat carefully on the bench nearby trying to not put pressure on her ankle. " I'm Hikari Komatsu. And who might you be? " She asked, still holding back the questions she had. She sensed something different about him, even though to her he appeared human. She hoped she could find out why she was able to see ghosts and the reason those creatures were after her.

He took a look at Hikari's ankle. "What a pretty name, I am Renji Abarai." He tried not to stare at the woman before him. Renji put pressure on the lower part of her ankle. "Does it hurt here?" He asked. He hoped he wasn't putting to much pressure on her ankle.
She couldn't have seen the hollows... He thought to himself. Renji wondered if it would be wrong to ask her about it.

" It hurts a little bit. It's nice to meet you Renji. Are you from around here?" She asked , being friendly. " I'm not going to say I saw him fighting monsters. I don't want him to think I'm insane. " Hikari thought to herself.

He looked up at her. "No, actually. I am just here on business." He took some bandages out and bandaged her ankle up. "Nice to meet you too." Renji smiled. "Not to be weird but have you seen anything weird going on around here lately?"

" I have, but if I told you, you might think I'm crazy. I've seen some awful looking things going down my street the last month or so. I know those horrible creatures tried to get me tonight too. " Hikari said shaking again and feeling sad. She didn't understand why she was able to see these things.

Renji's eyes widened and he noticed that she was shaking. "There there..." He didn't know what to do so he did the only thing he thought might help. Renji wrapped his arms around Hikari and rubbed her back gently. " It is scary I know. See... Those monsters you keep seeing are called hollows." He didn't know if he should go one or not, seeing as she was so shaken up.

" Why are these hollows after me? How do you know about them? " She asked feeling safe, but also a little afraid. She still didn't want to tell Renji she saw him fighting the Hollows. She hoped he wouldn't hurt her if she did say anything, starting to sense something different about him.

Renji contemplated for a second. He wondered if he could trust her. "Well... If I told you... You might think that I am crazy Hikari-chan." Renji glanced up at Hikari as he placed her ankle on his lap. "To late for that I guess.-" He paused and looked down, formulating how to tell her. "A hollow is a creature who is created from a Human soul who doesn't cross over to the ... uhm... Well it is basically someone who doesn't cross over-" He coughed and chastised himself for almost telling her about the soul society. "They are mutated spirits with powers that devour the souls of both living and deceased Humans." He stopped and looked at Hikari. "Go on?"

Hikari wondered if he noticed the tense look on her face." I'm sorry if I'm tense. So much has happened tonight. You seem different from most people I know Renji-san. I hope I can repay you." Hikari said, wondering why he did seem different.She knew it only was fair that she help him.
