" I am ready. I would like sometime with Hikari please." Emiko said , seeing the sad look in her granddaughter's eyes and gave a kind smile .She wanted her granddaughter to finally be at peace.
Before he had exited the room he smiled at Hikari. Renji nodded to Emiko and slowly walked out of the room. He didn't want Hikari to look so sad. Once out of the room he sighed and actually left the apartment, just going up to his own. He needed to unwind a bit.
Hikari smiled back at Renji. Hikari had nice talk with her grandma about the last few years, and about how important it was to move on and be at peace. Emiko knew Hikari needed to resolve her pain, and Hikari knew this too. " I'll miss you my Kari-chan but remember that death is a part being alive. I'll be at peace on the other side. " Emiko said in a kind voice, seeing Hikari nod.
Hikari was sad to lose her grandmother, but knew it was the best. She felt at peace letting her grandmother go. |
After a while Renji had made his way back downstairs. He knocked on the door "Are you both done?" He was ready to send Emiko's soul to the Soul Society. He hoped Hikari was alright. She seemed pretty sad when he left. Renji didn't like it when people were upset about things. It usually was a cause for concern. Complications usually turned up.
" We are. " Hikari said with a small smile. She was feeling better about her grandma moving on, knowing she would be safer in Soul Society.
Renji walked over to Emiko and raised his sword. He smiled at her and nodded. "You have a wonderful granddaughter." Renji then tapped Emiko on the head with the hilt of his sword.
After the soul burial Renji turned to Hikari to see if she was okay. "Your grandmother was a good woman so she is in good hands. Even if she was turned into a Hollow I would've been able to do a cleansing. I am glad it didn't come to that. Those tend to be troublesome." |
Hikari watched as her grandmother was sent to the Soul Society, feeling the tears down her face, but they were happy tears." I'm glad she is in good hands. Thank you Renji." Hikari said with a smile, feeling oddly at peace. She was glad that her grandmother could finally rest and would be safe.
Renji walked over to Hikari and wiped tears off of her face. "Please don't cry." She was awkwardly cute when she was crying but Renji didn't have time to dwell on that. "What do you want to do?" He wanted to get her mind off of everything so she wouldn't be so stressed about everything.
" How about a movie ? I'm not sure what type of movies you might like, but I have some DVDs you can pick from. " Hikari said. She also liked movies as much as books and had a few shelves with what ones she had.
Renji thought for a moment. "What do you prefer Hikari-chan?" He wanted to know her taste in movies first. Renji never really watched movies until he was in the human world with Ichigo. Ichigo and Kon had weird tastes in movies.
" I like Science Fiction, action and animated movies. " Hikari said hoping he didn't mind the types she liked. She wanted to be distracted from how sad she was feeling today. She also hoped she could ask Renji more about her father.
Renji was pleased with her choices. "That is pretty cool Hikari-chan." He wondered if she had any specific movies in mind. "Are there any you would like to watch? I have no preference. "
Renji eyed the books on the shelf. He didn't really read books anyways so he didn't really know what Hikari would like when it came to reading. He should pick up on that sooner or later. "Before we watch a movie what books do you like to read? Any you recommend?" |
" Doesn't matter to me. I like a lot of books . I like fiction mostly, and a little bit of history. Dad tried to get me to read books on science, in hopes I became a doctor or a teacher. I could recommend some books if you want to read any." Hikari said looking at the DVDs. She wanted to pick one that she knew Renji would like.
"I would love to see what you would recommend." Renji tried to remember. Maybe he could get her a gift sometime or another. Renji wanted to make her feel more comfortable about the situation.
" Alright. Would you like books that are set in a version of Feudal Japan? There's a series that's been been out for a few years that takes place in about 1900 but the tech is about 1940s level. " Hikari asked as she chose her favorite movie , My Neigbor Totoro to watch.
"That sounds alright. I really don't read at all." Renji notice she picked out a movie he had never seen before. It was pretty childish looking. He guessed he could give it a try.
" I hope you like this movie. It's been a while since I've seen it .I'll let you pick the next one." Hikari said and put it in the DVD player and set the TV to the right setting. She knew it was weird being nearly 25 and liking children's movies, though many people she knew still did watch animated movies.
"I might like it. It looks like it is for kids though." He chuckled a bit at the thought of a 25 year old liking children movies. He sat down and waited for the DVD to play. He wondered what it was about.
" It is supposed to be , but it still appeals to adults too. " Hikari said wondering how much older Renji was than her. She knew sometimes he looked older, but still could look younger. She figured it wouldn't be good to ask him his age.
"Oh alright." Renji chuckled and leaned back against the couch. "Play it. I wanna watch." He was vaguely interested in the movie she was about to play.
Hikari pressed the play button on the remote and hoped Renji liked this movie. She knew this would help her take her mind off the many things on her mind.
Renji patted next to him. "Come on and sit already Hikari-chan." He smiled and relaxed a bit. Renji never really like movies. He thought they were a stupid waste of time. Though he liked some he still tried to tell himself he hated it.
Hikari blushed and sat down next to Renji." Sorry about that . It's just a bad habit I have." She said .Hikari was glad to have someone to spend the day with, not sure what she would have done if she was alone.
Renji smiled. "No problem. I don't mind watching a movie with you. It is a good pass time." He watched the tv and waited for it to start.
Hikari smiled and was glad the movie started. She remembered why she like this movie so much and hoped Renji liked it. She wasn't sure what he liked to during his spare time, and made a note to ask.
