Wreck This Journal!

Okay, I just bought myself a 'Wreck This Journal' from Amazon. I'm pretty excited! C:

Does anyone else here have one? Feel free to share pictures!

jellysundae 04-28-2012 06:45 PM

What is dis :o

RoadToGallifrey 04-28-2012 06:54 PM

A Wreck This Journal is a book that's mostly blank, but there are instructions on the pages on what to do with them. They're open to interpretation and in theory, every journal should be unique. C:

Here's a completed video of a journal.

And here is a wiki-how on the ways to get the most out of your journal.

That seems like fun. I now want one. XD

RoadToGallifrey 04-28-2012 08:34 PM

They're pretty cheap. I got my one for £5, delivery included.

Usako 04-29-2012 03:28 AM

According to the wiki they're $13? For a fucking blank scrap book? Wow, people will buy anything I guess... ._.

I fail to see the point and it seems pretty stupid to me. Scrap booking is nothing new, but I guess put a hip and trendy label on something and kids will buy anything.

Considering that this has instructions in it, and it only costs $13, I wouldn't call it stupid or a waste of money. It's fun.

You want to talk about a waste of money? The blank journals that cost $50 and only have 20 pages. People buy those all the time just because they have a two cent printed picture on them with some gold foil.

It depends where you get them. Like I said, my one only cost £5 which is around $8. Also, it's not blank. The pages have instructions on what to do. It's also not -just- a scrapbook. It acts as a sketchbook and journal too. For $13, it's not a waste of money at all. Especially not if you look at the work that some people have put into theirs.

I really want one of these after watching that video. I had never heard of them before either, but they look like so much fun.

RoadToGallifrey 04-29-2012 07:04 PM

My one should arrive before the 8th. I'll probably post updates on my journal just in case anyone's interested.

Tomorrow after college I'm going to go and buy some new pens and things.

MessyArtist 04-30-2012 08:53 AM

I've done that, except I've made everything, even the journal itself. ^~^

RoadToGallifrey 04-30-2012 08:54 PM

Oh, wow! Do you have any pictures? :eager: I love seeing others!

My journal was dispatched today! :D

Cherry Who? 05-02-2012 06:26 AM

I've seen that and some other similar guided notebooks. They look like a bunch of fun, but I can't afford one at the moment. I considered making one for myself, but then I realized that following your own prompts wouldn't be very fun. Then I was gonna make one as a gift for my cousin's birthday, but I, ah, forgot and his birthday has passed now.

Anyway, if you like guided notebooks like that, here's some more. and I'm sure you could find them on other sites too, this is just where I found them.
Ready, Set, Novel!
My Life in Graphs (Really want this one!)
Finish This Book (a more involved version of wreck this journal, I think)

There's also a few for people who prefer doodling, like My Even More Wonderful World of Fashion.

And one more, This Book Will Change Your Life. Not as much like the others, but it's another book of prompts that looks quite fun. :D

RoadToGallifrey 05-02-2012 10:42 AM

Following your own promts definitely wouldn't be as fun. Those books are all very interesting. I really like the last one (I paused at the page with a message in a bottle, I really want to do that now). Also, 'Finish This Book' is by the same person that made 'Wreck This Journal'.

Cilestia Imperial 05-02-2012 12:36 PM

Oh wow i really like this :D
I want one now O3O

RoadToGallifrey 05-02-2012 03:00 PM

I bought a few magazines today in preparation to stick things on the cover of my journal when it comes. (Hopefully tomorrow! 8D)

lunanuova 05-02-2012 03:55 PM

Nice! I'd love to see how you start off and what you do with yours.

Liquid Diamond 05-03-2012 12:32 AM

I just ordered it after seeing this thread lol

RoadToGallifrey 05-03-2012 02:09 PM

I'm glad that I've introduced so many people to it!

My one came today, so I'm going to play around with it!

I look forward to seeing what you've done with yours. :)

SexualPlacebo 05-04-2012 10:44 PM

That's so tempting, but i'd probably get bored and forget about it, like I do with everything else I ever start. o:

It's a hipster thing. My teacher would be sooooo upset. She is an avid journal keeper and she thinks a journal is what you want. You can't buy a journal off the shelves. You gotta make it, maintain it, and keep it.

YamiSora 05-09-2012 05:08 AM

Sora's high school art teacher did this for our senior project..........Sora still has his and though we found it really useless at the time, Sora now sees why she did it and to tell you the truth, it was really fun! ^^

RoadToGallifrey 05-11-2012 10:05 AM

Um...I'm not a hipster and I thought that it was pretty cool? :/

Also, this is a journal that you make yourself. You make it what you want. You get what you put into it.

Lottie 05-12-2012 03:25 AM

I think it's lame that people are hatin' on such a neat-o idea. I'm totally getting this for Christmas.
