Kaladin nodded, looking at her robe. Abruptly he bit his lower lip, realizing she might be uncomfortable. Her knuckles were definitely white with the grip she had.
"You know, we don't have to do this." |
"N-no," Hazel said quickly, still blushing. "I agreed to this."
"Yes, but I understand if you change your mind. Really. It's okay." Kaladin smiled at her. "I won't be offended."
"That would defeat the purpose of trying to prepare myself," Hazel said. She still clutched the robe around herself, but her grasp wasn't quite so white-knuckled anymore.
Kaladin shrugged, climbing out of the water and wringing some water out of his hair. "Well, it's your choice. We can always start later, or tomorrow."
"I'll lose my nerve by tomorrow," Hazel said. "I'm just... unaccustomed to being so... underclothed."
"Ah." Kaladin blinked, trying to think of a solution to that. "Um... I could grab you one of my shirts, if you'd like. It'll be big on you, but maybe it'll help?"
Hazel looked at him a bit hopefully.
"It might help," she hedged. Of course, it would still be a bit embarrassing, but there wasn't much she would be able to do about that. She couldn't get into the water in her full gown and corsets, after all. |
"Alright. Wait here for a minute." Kaladin got out of the water and padded back to his room, picking out a shirt he didn't care about. It was clean, at least, and he handed it over to Hazel.
"There. Should be fine." |
"Thanks," Hazel said, accepting the shirt. She paused for a moment, and blushed brightly. "Could you...?" she trailed off, although she twirled one finger around to try to get her thoughts across. She wasn't quite ready to take off her robe in front of him, even though she was wearing the bathing suit underneath.
"Oh! Yeah, sure." Kaladin turned faintly pink, turning around so she could have some privacy. He hadn't thought of that. Whoops, he was definitely too used to ranch girls.
