Ewie. Skunk is the worst smell.
|
Hmm, I dunno... "disturbed 3-month old flood water" is pretty bad :gonk:
|
I can't say I know what the smell of a skunk or 3-month old flood water smells like, but I can imagine they'd both be pretty bad. :gonk:
|
i know what a dead rotting dear smells like >.>'
|
Eww I'm not too familar with that but...still, eww. Dx
|
how about a 3-lb package of chicken breasts rotting in your basement >.<
(in my defense it had fallen behind the freezer and was forgotten about) |
EW...I had that happen at my parents' house behind a freezer. Took us forever to realize they were there.

Hi Kirin!
Ugh, the worst smells for me all come from the flood relief projects I worked on. Mold, sewage, standing water, it was awful. The only thing that compares is slaughterhouse. :gonk: |
Yeah, slaughter houses are one of the many reasons I do not eat meat any more.

Kita has good news. :D Mom and Nana found Binky. ^.^ He was hiding underneath a clothes hamper. They said he was scared to death of something, but they can't figure out what he was so frightened of. o.o
|
Oh thank goodness! I'm glad he's safe <3
PICTURES COMING SOON. Catching up on mene posts, then eating dinner, then uploading pictures of the vulture/buzzard creature and the cattery layout. ---------- Post added 06-06-2012 at 08:07 PM ---------- BIG BIRD THING. http://i.imgur.com/yVOnr.jpg I wish I had gotten a picture while it was in flight. It was truly MASSIVE. |
I am too! Binky is my favorite kitty in the whole world (besides my Sweetie Pea of course) and I was so worried about him. I can't wait to see him when I visit home. :eager: It'll be nice to see Zoey too, I guess, even though he's far from my favorite. Destructive little booger, he is. :illgetu:
Oh yay more kitty pictures. ^.^ Ohh hello Large Birdie. |
OKAY TOUR BEGINS NOW!
http://i.imgur.com/6JUtR.jpg This is the first room when you walk into the cattery. The room through the door is a supply room for the cat stuff like litter and toys and bedding. On either side wall there are doors to the rest of the cattery. The kennels are not usually there; they're only used if a cat is to stressed out to be in the cattery (the case for Nefertiti, who is new to the cattery) or if they are on special diets. The cat in the top (Mousey) is there mostly because he is pretty good at escaping from the cattery, but he also wasn't getting along too great to begin with. ---------- Post added 06-06-2012 at 08:22 PM ---------- I only took a picture of one cattery door because they both look the same xD http://i.imgur.com/tH1OU.jpg The one in the window is JoJo. There's almost always either he or another tabby (Mama) in that window. ---------- Post added 06-06-2012 at 08:38 PM ---------- FIRST ROOM! http://i.imgur.com/SwuS3.jpg This is one of two indoor areas. The one on the other side is almost identical. The door is shut at night to keep out bad weather mostly, but you can see there's a cat flap under the window so the cats can still come and go as they please. It's better that way I think, cramming all of the cats into two cramped rooms is not ideal x_x Something awesome I learned today at training, the white shelving on the right is actually part of the shelving inside the storage area. The back panel is actually the door to a cupboard, so they're latched on the other side so the cats can't get out. It's neat that they cut out the back of the cupboard though for the cats to sleep in! ---------- Post added 06-06-2012 at 08:43 PM ---------- http://i.imgur.com/93lyv.jpg Both rooms have lots of hidey boxes and catwalks for sleeping and playing. Usually the boxes have a blanket or something in them but they inevitably get knocked out at some point. |
Glad your cat was found Kitami.
Keyori- I like the hidey boxes. Those pictures make me miss the vet clinic I use to work at. |
It looks like a really nice environment for the cats.
Star:: Thanks, I am too. |
Ooo how nice. :O!
|
I want those hide boxes! XD It kind of reminds me of one of the shelters I used to work at. They had a catwalk along the whole top of the room then hide boxes on the walls. Very neat to keep the kitties entertained :)
|
I totally want some hidey boxes for my future home.
http://i.imgur.com/S3rMi.jpg Here's the first outdoor section. The property is mostly surrounded by a grass field (used for hay baling) and it's common to see wildlife around the area. Plus, BIRDS. The cats love it! I really want to have an outdoor room like this some day. Maybe not with metal grating, but something similar (maybe a half-wall with big screened windows? who knows). The floor is two different colors because the room was expanded a few years ago. You'll see that part next. ---------- Post added 06-06-2012 at 09:44 PM ---------- Here's the rest of the expansion, which connects the two wings. http://i.imgur.com/CDplG.jpg There's lots of chairs and benches for people to sit on. The PVC furniture is rearranged every morning when the staff hose down all the floors, so it's always different when I go in xD The ceiling is just wooden beams with a plastic semi-transparent roofing material bolted on top. I love how much light it lets in, and when lizards and other small critters get on the roof it drives the kitties crazy! :) |
I wish I could take my cats there. o 3o
|
Only two photos left!
http://i.imgur.com/zkrFa.jpg Here's the other end of the expansion, facing the other cattery wing. The two windows (center and right) are to the supply room. If you go into the supply room, there's one kitty who will stand on the back of one of the benches and paw at the windows constantly. She doesn't cry or anything, she just looks like she's rubbing it down or something xD |
Lmao! XDD Cleaning~
|
That is awesome! I can just see some of the kitties trying to catch the lizards. XD

Here's the other indoor room, with more hidey boxes and catwalks. In the top right corner of the room you can see a speaker; they play soft music in the cattery during adoption hours. Sometimes it's classical music, today it was some ethnic instrumental stuff. (Indian perhaps? Some sort of Middle-Eastern style music) And that's the cattery! There's a separate room next door to the cattery that holds adoptable kittens, and then there's a quarantine wing for new intakes and sick cats (which I'm not allowed into). The dogs are housed in two other buildings, "pods" that are round so that all the dogs can see when someone walks in (it cuts down on the barking significantly, compared to hallway-style dog kennels). There's also a large fenced-in yard where the dogs are all let out to exercise twice a day, so the dog pods are semi-communal. |
