Yeah, I would do that with baking, but not with stove-top cooking. I never really follow recipes for anything I don't bake.

It's like a maple version of a brownie

Though mine has no maple in it. But it's a light brownie.

If you have Applebee's, they serve them. Otherwise you could always practice making lots of brownies and then try your hand at blondies ;D

Bridal shower. It's like a gift-giving party for the bride basically.

I didn't bother with one. I got gifts at the wedding anyway, why milk my guests for gifts twice?

Because, who needs gifts when you can go out and get completely rat-arsed the night before you get married?!

We have those to they're called bachelorette parties.

Lol. I didn't have one of those either... on account of not having enough female friends at the time to have one with.

Now, we did get completely trashed the night before we got married though, with a ton of our mutual friends. But it wasn't really what I would consider a bachelorette or bachelor party, since we were both there and all of the friends we could get to come were there.

We call them Hen and Stag do's. But yeah.
So you get presents AND raging drunk before you get married?!
Win/win situation.

Only if you buy into that kind of stuff. The wedding industry here (in my opinion) is way overblown. People can spend more on a wedding than on a car. That doesn't make any sense to me, especially if you take out loans to pay for it (which a lot of people these days do).

So hubby and I just got married in my dad's living room in front of parents and grandparents. I didn't even buy a wedding dress. We had a reception the following day for extended family and friends of the family (mostly my dad's friends, who I grew up with as well).
