Mae grinned as she hauled her duffel bag up to the haunted house. It was a big old Victorian building, with wrought-iron fencing surrounding it. The house had been there for as long as anyone could remember, and most of the townspeople thought the place thought the place was haunted. Mae and Emily had been dared by some of their friends to spend a weekend there.
Mae put no faith in those rumors, so she'd accepted the dare with good grace. Now she was just waiting for Emily to catch up with her so she could hop the fence and go into the house. No one ever looked in the old house, so she wasn't worried about the authorities. They still had a few hours of sunlight to get settled into old house and get their things set up. |
Emily hauled her bag toward the fence. She knew she should have packed less in her bag, but she didn't want to be cold." Sorry about taking long Mae. She said. She hoped the townspeople were wrong about this house being haunted. "You think those rumors are true?" She asked as she looked at the house. Emily had a feeling someone was watching them .
|
"Nah," Mae said with a snort. "I don't put any faith in those rumors." She looked at the fence for a few moments before she tossed her bag over onto the other side. She didn't have anything but clothes in there, so she wasn't worried about squishing or breaking anything. As soon as her bag landed on the other side, she clambered up to perch on top of the fence.
"Come on, hand me your bag. I'll toss it over and then we can get inside and get settled in." Mae grinned. She was rather excited about this now. |
Emily handed Mae her bag." I'll get the cooler if you would like me too." She said , glad she had packed some food in her cooler that had a shoulder strap. She didn't like the feeling she got as it got darker.
Ross woke up from his slumber and stretched. He was feeling hungry and was tired of catching rats. He knew it was rare for anyone to come into this house even if he tried to get them to come. He hoped Skylar had an idea on what to do tonight. |
"Sure." Mae took the bag and dropped it on the other side of the fence before helping Emily get up over the fence and dropping over the other side herself. Night was falling quickly, and she wanted to get inside and get their things set up.
This was going to be a long weekend. Skylar stretched as he woke up, looking over at Ross briefly. Maybe they'd be able to get out into the woods tonight and hunt some deer... The thought made him shiver. It had been a while since he'd properly gone hunting, instead mostly living off rats and mice, which were disgusting. He looked over at Ross again with a brief grin, showing his fangs. "What say you to hunting down a few deer tonight?" |
Emily grabbed her bag and the cooler and headed to the house." You think it's really haunted?" She asked, hearing a few strange noises.
" We could." Ross said not really wanting to hunt deer. He paused a second and thought he smell humans." Skylar? Do smell what I smell?" He said with a grin. It had been a long time since he had tasted human blood. |
"Nah. It's an old house. It probably creaks and groans all the time. Besides, there might be some rats and things that have gotten in there." Mae shrugged and headed for the front door, pushing it open and peering inside. "Good thing I brought a flashlight!" She pulled it out of her belt, flicking it on.
Skylar took a deep breath and shivered, his eyes getting a few shades darker. "Indeed I do," he murmured silkily. "Humans foolish enough to come here." He grinned, showing his fully-extended fangs, and rose from his bed. "Come, Ross. It would be rude of us not to welcome our... guests..." |
Ross grinned, looking forward to meeting their guests. " We should make it interesting though, making them think the house is haunted but keep them from telling the people in the city." He said.
"I'm glad you did too. I have extra batteries if you need them." Emily said still feeling a little afraid. She still had a feeling they were not alone in here. |
"Any ideas?" Skylar looked over at Ross with a raised eyebrow. He liked the idea, but making it happen would be a little more tricky. Not that he doubted they could do it, it would just require a little more work.
Mae nodded and moved inside, starting to look around. Dust covered most of the area that she could see, showing that this level of the house at least hadn't been lived in. Nothing unexpected there. Mae just kept looking around, hoping for a space to set up their things. |
" We could what we used to do. Meaning we make them feel comfortable and wait till they are asleep before we reveal ourselves." Ross said.
Emily hoped they found a place to set down their things." The kitchen looks like a good place." She said after looking a little bit. |
Skylar nodded and grinned. "Sounds fine to me," he purred. "Lead the way." He headed up after Ross did, still grinning. This would be the best company they'd had in a while.
Mae nodded and managed to find a broom, sweeping out the worst of the dust on the kitchen floor before she set her things down, pulling out her sleeping bag from her duffel bag. "Okay. Let's get settled in and then I brought some books and things for us, and there are plenty of snacks." |
Ross went silently down the stairs and hoped they were nearby. He stopped when he heard the voices of two females and grinned. " This is going to be better than I hoped." He whispered to Skylar.
" Want to eat something before we get ready for bed?" She asked. Emily was glad she had her sleeping bag with her. She was feeling very tense for some reason, but figured it was just hunger. |
"Sure. Might as well get a snack." Mae set her sleeping bag up before pulling out an extra blanket and her pillow. There. Now she'd be comfortable. She reached over to rifle around in the cooler.
Skylar grinned and nodded, his eyes flashing eagerly. They were so close, and his fangs almost hurt with how much he wanted to drink. But he restrained himself, moving over closer slowly. Even if they were only facing two human girls, he wanted to be cautious. It wouldn't do to bring the authorities here. |
Emily grabbed a granola bar and started to eat. She hoped that her feelings were just her being hungry, but still had the feeling that she and Mae were not alone.
Ross was having a difficult time controlling himself. He knew they had to wait till these ladies went to sleep. Then he ant Skylar could introduce themselves. |
Mae got her snack before she settled down, getting comfortable in her sleeping bag. "Night, Emily," she said quietly, pulling her iPod out of her pocket so she could listen to music before she went to sleep.
Skylar could hardly wait as he watched them get ready for bed. They were so close, and he could almost taste the blood already. He swallowed once to keep himself from doing something rash. |
Emily closed her eyes, feeling tired. She was trying to get comfortable, but seemed restless for some odd reason. She wished she knew why she felt so uneasy in this place.
Ross was getting impatient. His fangs ached in anticipation for the taste of human blood. He couldn't wait till the two girls fell asleep. |
Mae had a few problems settling down enough to sleep, but she managed to roll over onto her stomach and get comfortable enough to sleep.
Skylar's eyes narrowed a little. One of them was asleep; good. But the other still had to get to sleep. Soon. He shivered a little and moved forward, just a little. He wanted to tackle the other one so badly. |
Emily hoped nothing bad would happen while they slept here. She slept fitfully.
" It's almost time. " Ross said with a grin , that revealed his fangs. He really was looking forward to his first real meal in a long time. He knew this would be much better than deer. |
Skylar grinned; both girls were asleep now. He moved forward silently, blending in with the shadows around the house, quieter than a mouse on thick carpet. He looked over the two girls, inhaling slowly. A shiver rippled down his spine; they both smelled delicious, but the one closer to him smelled even better than the one curled up in her sleeping bag.
Kneeling down next to Emily, Skylar took another deep breath. Oh yes. This one would do just fine... "You can have that one," he said, too quietly for the humans to hear, and he jerked his head at Mae. He wanted Emily for himself... |
Ross nodded and kneeled over Mae. He was glad that this would be his human. He gently bit into he neck and started to drink. He was careful not to be rough and would be glad the marks would heal over. He didn't want his meal for the next two nights get suspicious.
|
Skylar shifted Emily's hair out of the way, leaning down and biting gently into her neck. His eyes closed briefly in bliss; it had been so long since he'd had human blood, he'd almost forgotten how much sweeter they tasted than rats. He pulled back when he'd taken enough, licking the wounds briefly to be sure they'd close. The next two nights were going to be very, very nice.
|
Ross looked at the sky through the window and motioned to Skylar." We better get going." He knew it was almost sunrise and close to when the girls might be up. He hoped that tomorrow night would be as wonderful as this one had been.
|
Skylar nodded and slipped back under the house to their hiding spot. He knew they weren't in danger of being discovered; he'd built the house, so he'd made sure their light-tight sleeping spot wouldn't be discovered by any human. Yawning briefly, his fangs still a little red with Emily's blood, he went over to settle down for the night.
