"You are lucky. My family despises me, for many reasons." He says with a sad smile. "I have been alone for many centuries."

Alex frowned, well that wasn't right, she would have though even dragons would have enough of a family mind set to be there for each other, though it did explain why Agni was willing to help her.
"That's terrible." Alex said genuinely "No one should have to be alone, especially not for that long. How could you cope with that?" She asked sounding a little sad for him "It sounds like a very lonely existence."
She didn't ask about friends since she was already pretty sure that if a dragon didn't fit in with others of his own kind then there weren't many places he would have found companionship.

"It is a lonely existence. But I have gotten it used it. When I first got kicked out of my family I tried to make friends with the humans in the nearby village, that end badly." He still had the scars from that encounter. "After that I kept to myself."

Alex winced a little at the though of Agni's encounter with humans. "I can see how that was the better option." She said sympathetically "I can't imagine any town where a dragon, even one in a human form would be welcome."

"I had foolishly thought that since I didn't embrace my dragon side that..." He lets out a sigh. "Not that it matters, it's in the past." He wouldn't admit it out loud but he had often thought of ending it all. He was so lonely. The sun has started to set. "We are not to far from a town. If you want you can go and rest there." He says.

Alex pondered what she wanted to do, an inn would be much more comfortable, and would probably be safer, but it almost felt cruel to leave him alone after a conversation like the one that had just happened.
She shook her head "No I think I'd prefer to camp tonight." She said with a smile "I wasn't prepared for a longer travel and it would help my gold stretch farther if I did." She added figuring that sounded like a safe enough excuse to stay.

"You do not have to stay for me. I will be fine on my own." he says with a small smile. Though he was touched by her offer to stay out in the forest with him. "Besides, I have a bit of gold myself that you can use if yours gets low."

"Well if you're sure." She said not wanting to push the matter and make him think she was only offering out of pity. "We can meet up again in the morning and continue."

"I look forward to the morning." he says with a slight smile and a bow. He watches her go up the road towards the village, he himself heads into the woods to find a place to make his camp. He finds a nice space and sets up camp.

After an uneventful, but not all that restful night Alex made her way back to the woods to meet up with Agni. She wasn't far from where they had parted ways when a strange man in rough clothing stepped to the middle of the path in front of her. She reined her horse to a quick stop and stared down at the man.
"Can I help you with something?" She asked calmly, though she felt anything but since she was pretty sure the man was a bandit, and while she could probably take on the man in front of her and maybe a few more, if the group was too big she was going to be in trouble. She glanced at the bushes on either side as she waited for an answer.
The man laughed crudely "Ya can gimme your gold and whatever else you have that I might want."
"I don't think..." Alex began going for her sword but stopped as about a dozen bandit archers came out of the bushes. Her eyes glanced down at her helmet hanging off her saddle. She could try to fight back but all it would take is one lucky head shot to put her down. What should she do now?
"Now what were ya saying missy?" The bandit asked with a dark smirk.

Agni had sensed that bandits and Alex and knew she was in trouble. He comes out of the woods growling. "It would be wise if you were to leave." He says menacingly.

A few of the bandits look towards the ring leader.

Agni is pleased to know who his prime target should be.

Alex used the distraction caused by Agni showing up to grab her helmet and shove it on her head in an attempt to cover her main weakness. This caused a few of the archer to swing their aim back to Alex but lucky for her none of them took a shot.

The bandit leader looked Agni up and down "What the hell are you?" He didn't wait for an answer "Never mind. What ever you are if yer smart you'll stay outta this. You don't look like you got anything good on you so me and my men got no business with you."

With an inhumane quickness Agni attacks one of the men. With in a flash the man is disarmed and knocked out. Agni's eyes have taken on a very serpentine look to them. "I said leave her alone." He growls his voice deeper then it had been.

Alex was a little taken back by the sudden speed that Agni showed, but didn't have the time to think too much about it, since his attack caused the bandit leader to shout for his men to fight back. Alex slid off her horse, before anyone sorted themselves out enough to shoot and sent it into the woods, hoping it wasn't too scared to come back when she called for it.

She drew her sword and charged the nearest bandit, taking him down quickly since they were poorly trained and she had wielded a sword since she was tall enough to hold one.A few of the archers dropped their bows, grabbed swords and charged her all at once, hoping to overwhelm her. They gave her more of a challenge but she still seemed to have the upper hand.

Realizing that between Agni speed and Alex's skill he and his band were likely out matched the bandit leader started to back away from the fight, hoping no one would notice him trying to run.

Agni sees him and growling tackles him. "Where do you think you're going?" He practically hisses.

A few of the bandit archers look towards where nngi held their leader pined but none were brave enough to try and help him. Alex paid him no attention busy dealing with her small band of archers.
The leader stared at Agni fear in his eyes. "I... uh... We..." He struggled trying to make since. He finally managed a pitiful "Please don't kill me." As he continued to cower.

"Give me on good reason why shouldn't." He snarls. He really hates people like this man. "The world would be better off with out you."

The man practically whimpered "I'll... I'll give you gold or... or whatever you want, just please don't hurt me."
Alex finished off the few who had been brave enough to attack her and walked over both curious to see what Agni planned to do with the man and to protect his back should any of the other bandits find their courage again.

"I need not your gold human." He snarls. He is resisting the urge to tear out this mans throat.

The bandit was nearly sobbing now "I'll do whatever you want, please." He begged again "I don't want to die."
Alex stood back and continued to watch Agni deal with the bandit leader. She thought about intervening and letting the bandit live, but she knew he wouldn't have granted her the same options and if Agni did decide to kill him the area would probably be safer for it.

Agni is fighting his nature. He has never liked killing. "Leave." He snarls stepping back. "But know this if you ever go back to your old ways your life is forfeit."

The man didn't have to be told twice and as soon as Agni had moved he was on his feet and gone back into the forest at a full run.
"Well that was an interesting set of events and we haven't even really left town yet." Alex said with forced lightness as she watched the man run. "Thank you for your help, it was greatly appreciated."
