Agni still has all that pent up aggression. "Excuse me." He says his voice strained. He moves into the forest and takes all that aggression out on a tree. Soon he has calmed down. He returns to her. "Are you hurt?" He asks. As much as he doesn't want to admit it to himself he is falling in love with Alex. Even though he knows that she could never feel the same way and even if she did it could never be.
Alex had expected Agni to need to vent after letting the man go, and waited patiently for him to comeback. Using the time to catch and calm her horse.
She was a little surprised that Agni had let the man live. She was beginning to realize that all the stories she knew of dragons didn't seem to apply to him very much, it was putting a new perspective on things. Alex looked at Angi with a smile as he returned "No I'm not, thanks to you. If you hadn't have shown up it would have been a different story though." |
"I am truly glad you are alright." He says with a smile. "Though I am sure the story will spread of what happened here, though will most likely be grossly exaggerated. Shall we continue on?" He asks her. He is truly glad that she well and not hurt. If she had been hurt he most likely would have been tempted to hunt down the men and kill them all.
"Well at least we'll be gone from the area when it happens and if it tries to come back and bite us it will be my word they believe not a bandits." Alex said as she pulled herself back onto her horse. "And I will be more then willing to vouch for you."
She pondered her words briefly and was surprised to realize that vouch for him would be the least she would do. If it came down to it she would fight to protect him. She shook off the thoughts, putting it down to the fact that he had saved her so that would only be repaying a favour. "I'm ready to go." She said pulling her helmet off and attaching it to her saddle again. She really did hate riding with it on, you couldn't see your surroundings well enough for her tastes. |
Agni heads off again walking in silence. It felt good to know that she would vouch for him. Though he put down to him saving her life. He lets out an internal sigh as they ride on.
Alex let the silence go on for a bit, then decided to make a stab at conversation again. "So," She said a bit awkwardly "How was your night? Did you sleep well?"
"I slept very well. And you?" He asks walking beside her horse, who seems to have gotten used to being around him.
"Mostly, yes." She said with a smile "Though I do believe there was a bard playing at the tavern next door and the party they seemed to be holding did get a little loud for my tastes."
"I am sorry to hear that." He says looking up at her.
Alex shrugged "It wasn't so bad. The bard was good at least." She grinned at him "That made it tolerable."
"You weren't bothered by any ruffians were you?" He asks, wondering why he's cares so much about her. He pushes those thoughts and feelings away. Those feelings would lead to naught.
Alex was a little flattered by Agni's concern "No, I was fine. Most see me show up in armour and are smart enough to leave me be. Thank you for asking though."
"It is no problem." He says with a smile. They continue to walk. He enjoys the scenery, he hasn't been out of his cave for a very long time.
Alex spent a few minutes working out where to take the conversation. Agni had peaked her curiosity in the short time she had known him by being completely undragonlike, at least as far as what she knew about dragons went. She wanted to ask so many questions but she didn't want to offend him, or make herself look ignorant and stupid.
She quickly dismissed questions about family or friends since that seemed to be a sore topic for Agni. Was hobbies a safe topic she wondered? He had to do something to pass the time in his cave right? "So." She asked, braking the brief silence that had formed between them. "What sorts of things to do you like to do to amuse yourself?" |
Agni enjoys the silence between them. When he hears the question. He walks on in silence a bit contemplating the question and how he would answer. "I enjoy cooking, and reading. I also meditate." He says. "You can feel free to ask me anything you would like. I will take no offense." He says.
"My father tried to teach me to meditate." Alex said with a smile as she remembered the day. "I wasn't very good at it, I could never sit still long enough. I guess I'm more of a go go go type of person." She laughed a little "What do you like to read?"
"It took me a long time to mediate properly, but then there isn't much to do when you are somebody like me." He says with a sad smile. "I like to read anything and everything." He says.
Alex felt a little guilty at reminding Agni of his past again and tried to continue the conversation so he wouldn't dwell on it as much. "You must know all sorts of interesting things then." She smiled at him.
Agni just shrugs, never having thought of it before. "So what do you enjoy doing for fun?" he asks as they walk on.
Alex had to think about that for a moment since people didn't typically want to know very much about her, just what she could do for them at the moment.
"I enjoy anything that lets me be active outdoors really. Riding, working with animals, even weapons training when I can do it outside is nice. Though when I'm looking to do something quiet I like to carve wood." |
"I have often thought of taking up wood carving." He says with a smile. "Perhaps you can teach me the next time we stop for a rest." He had truly never thought of wood carving, but now that he had heard of it it might be something else to do to pass the time.
Alex smiled "I'd love to." She said sincerely "It take some practice but it's not all that hard to do." She laughed slightly "Though I may just feel that way because I've been doing it for a long time now."
"I am sure you are very good at it." He says with a smile. "What of your family?" He asks. He was just trying to make conversation.
"I don't have much family, well not that I remember anyway." Alex said brushing a bit of stray hair out of her eyes. "I was raised by my teacher, who found me wandering alone in the woods when I was very young. He was a father to me. It was pretty much just he and I most of the time."
"You are very lucky to have found someone. What would he think of you traveling and being friendly with a dragon?" He asks. It was just so easy to be with her. His mind wanders to a future with them together. He quickly pushes that thought aside. It could never be. No matter how much he aches for it.
