I think these are fine. :3

The middle one is my favorite. You just have to keep drawing and finding things to improve upon and try with each piece. Even unfinished doodles will help.

Sweetsunnyrain 05-09-2012 12:43 AM

Thanks. ^_^ I try to practice drawing at least two hours a day...usually I can squeeze 45 minutes on the bus going to school, 20 minutes of doodling in most of my classes, another 45 minutes on the bus back, and....3-4 hours in the night? OwO

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 05-09-2012 01:07 AM

Wow, that's some dedication right there! :insane: I need to get on that.
Did you have any preferred style that you wanted to try or work towards?

Sweetsunnyrain 05-09-2012 01:19 AM

He he, thanks.

Hm...I'm experimenting with different styles at the moment. ^_^ I like kind of simple but elegant styles...I have to work towards that lol. OuO

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 05-09-2012 01:56 AM

Oof, I know what you mean! I kind of want to work towards a minimalist style to try to that out. P: Work work work!

Sweetsunnyrain 05-09-2012 02:21 AM

He he, not much time to work if you're in middle school... OTL

I have too many projects... >A<; Gahhhh sometimes I hate middle school.....

A commission from another site. ^_^

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 05-09-2012 04:54 PM

Haha, it doesn't get much easier; so do your best! ;3

Pretty! I think you have a good sense of body shape. Her neck seems either a bit thin or a bit uncentered (could be her right shoulder (our left) is longer than the other). The arms seem a bit awkward/thin also. Ah, I think they may be too long. It's hard to tell since the drawing ends right when hands should be beginning.
Did you have another stronger light source aside from the fire?
Hopefully these don't seem too harsh. I really do like it. Especially the fabric and tears for the shirt. :eager:
You colored this digitally yes? :O

Sweetsunnyrain 05-09-2012 10:56 PM

Ooh, thanks so much for the critique! OuO

I was thinking that there was something wrong, just couldn't figure out what! OuO

I was thinking of maybe another small fire to her right (our left)? OwO Oh, and it's drawn and colored digitally.

fireprincess 05-10-2012 03:02 AM

Awww!!!! Your art is adorable!!!

Yeah, I agree with Iku  the arms seem a little long and maybe make the chin a little more definitive?
It's really cute!

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 05-10-2012 03:16 AM

You're welcome. :D It's nice to get fresh pair of eyes on things, huh? And I'm glad you're sharing with us! :D

Okay~ Just remember to show the light source on her as well.

Also, I love that little chibi headshot in your sig. xD So cute.

Sweetsunnyrain 05-10-2012 04:09 AM

All right, I'll remember that in my next commission. ^_^

He he, I did this last night. Because I still had a few minutes before I really had to go to bed, and so I just doodled it in flat color for fun :3

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 05-10-2012 02:18 PM

b^^ You inspire me to draw moar! And I definitely need to.

What program do you use? :O

Sweetsunnyrain 05-10-2012 03:29 PM

I use Sketchbook Express...^u^

I'm trying to get used to using Corel, though.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 05-10-2012 11:35 PM

Ooh do you like Sketchbook?
I think I've tried Corel and didn't care for it. Sure it just takes getting used to though.

Sweetsunnyrain 05-11-2012 12:48 AM

Yeah, but it's a demo, so I can't make more than three layers, and when I save it, even if it's in TIF form, all the layers get merged...TT^TT

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 05-11-2012 04:11 AM

Oof, how lame. D: Hmm.. that sounds familiar... I think another artist here uses either that same program or one similar because I remember she can't have more than 3 or so layers as well.
Have you tried Gimp?

Sweetsunnyrain 05-11-2012 05:12 AM

I've tried to download it onto my mac, but it doesn't work... ; n ;

yet another commission from a different site.

I am aware his arms look funky. XD

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 05-11-2012 03:45 PM

Awww, I wonder why. D: I thought Gimp was Mac compatible. Pretty sure that's what one of my friends uses on her comp and it's an older Mac. May have to try it on mine.

Bluuuuue~ I love those blue flames(?) in the background. I'm a sucker for blues like that though. xD

The shirt seems flat compared with the rest of the piece, but probably because it's solid black. That can be challenging to portray shading on such a dark color without losing the intensity of it. The shoulders seem kind of pointy in a way, like the angle into the arm is sharp (as compared with your previous drawing, her shoulders are very rounded, but understandable since this is a male character, just something to watch out for). The lines on the neck seem out of place. What those lines are usually portraying are the the muscles on either side of the cartilage for where the throat is located.

Simplified, it makes a v-shape as in this sketch.
http://www.drawing-factory.com/image...awing-3-03.jpg
But not always connected into a complete V of course.
Here's a neat correction sketch someone did for the drawing on the left.
Here, you can see the lines for those muscles as well as lines for the collarbone.

Overall, great! b^^ Just be aware of what simple little lines can do/entail. Just as lines for eyebrows can change the expression on a face, lines on the body have that same effect.

Sweetsunnyrain 05-11-2012 08:38 PM

Omigosh, thanks~ <3 I understand it so much better now! OuO

Now you see why I need more practice..>u>;

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 05-11-2012 09:38 PM

Haha, even the best artists need to keep practicing. -cheers you on- \ o /

Sweetsunnyrain 05-11-2012 09:53 PM

He he, thanks~ OuO

Imma cheer for you too! Ow<b

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 05-11-2012 11:01 PM

Cheering partay!

Sweetsunnyrain 05-11-2012 11:26 PM
