"Don't worry, I think I can find a place." Anna grinned and started walking, moving through the streets until she reached the hideout, which hadn't changed at all. Apparently someone had bought it to keep as a "historical building".
"Does this look more familiar?" |
Ezio looked at the building and grinned.
"It's good to see some things have survived," he said. |
Anna grinned. "It's been conserved as some sort of historical building. Someone bought it less than a year after you vanished, although the records don't actually say who." She moved over to the door, picking the lock swiftly and pushing it open.
|
"Then one must wonder who bought it," Ezio replied, following her through the door, "and why. It was a wholly unremarkable building when I was using it." He looked around, feeling nostalgic. Most of the furniture he could see was original.
|
"Perhaps your sister?" Anna suggested quietly. "Or another of the Order. It is hard to say." She stayed out of the way, letting him look around.
|
"Perhaps," Ezio replied as he ran his fingers along the banister of the stairs. Everything had a softer edge to it than he remembered, but it was mostly still there the way he remembered it.
|
Anna just watched him quietly for a few moments.
"Should I not have shown you?" |
"Not at all, la mia dolce," Ezio said softly, going over to her. He gave her a small kiss. "I am glad you did."
|
Anna smiled faintly. "Good." She looped her arms around him loosely, glancing past him at the rest of the hideout.
"I remember I used to hate you for getting me up so early." |
"But you grew accustomed," Ezio pointed out, putting his arms around her gently.
|
"Yeah, I did." Anna shrugged a little. "I got used to a lot of things I never though I'd learn to tolerate. Including climbing."
|
Ezio grinned a bit and gave her a kiss.
"And jumping," he reminded. |
"I still don't like jumping," Anna grumbled. "But I will if I have to." She kissed him again briefly.
|
Ezio returned the kiss, pulling her close.
"And it's good you tolerate it," he said. "Otherwise, you would still be an apprentice." |
"Bah." Anna scoffed at the idea and shook her head. "I would have done the one jump and then never again if I had to."
|
"Not counting those you did as practice?" Ezio teased.
|
"Exactly." Anna grinned briefly. "Now I'm going to go look around and see how much is still left here."
|
Ezio nodded and went with her. He was interested in seeing what remained, as well.
Meanwhile, Iris was perfectly content to stay close to Altair. She'd found a shop that sold gelato and had gotten herself one, and was in a wonderful mood at the moment. |
Anna took her time exploring the place, noting where she and Iris used to sleep. She blinked when she found a pen she'd thought she lost, picking it up and absently dusting it off.
Altair had stolen a bit of her gelato and was still debating if he liked the flavor or not. It was much sweeter than anything he was used to, and he wrinkled his nose a little before settling in next to her. |
Ezio, meanwhile, had found a few spots in the walls and ceilings that hadn't been patched over where there were holes from Anna's early knife-throwing exploits. He even managed to find a few that had been patched over, and ran his fingers over them gently.
Iris leaned against him as she enjoyed the gelato. "It's not what you're used to," she commented. "Although I'm sure we would be able to find appropriately spiced things around here that you might like." |
Anna snickered when she found him. "Isn't that from when I decided you were waking me up too early and I tried to throw a knife at you?" she asked, moving over to him.
Altair shrugged, just a little. "Not all the food was spiced," he said quietly. "There wasn't always enough spices. Besides, bland foods sit better when you have to ride horseback for several days." He glanced down at her. "But I appreciate the thought." |
"It was," Ezio replied, nodded. "One of the times, at least. I distinctly remember a few."
Leaning up, Iris gave him a quick kiss. "I seem to need bland things myself lately," she said, "but we should see what we can find. It would be a shame to let good Italian food pass us by." |
"At least a few." Anna grinned. "Good thing I never actually hit you, huh?" She slid an arm around him again, looking at the spots on the wall.
Altair looked at her before he sighed. "Whatever you say." Because clearly he still didn't trust Italian food. |
"I would say so," Ezio replied, pulling her close. "I would say the wall was not so lucky as I was."
Iris rolled her eyes a little bit. "Really, there's nothing wrong with shrimp and penne pasta in a good alfredo sauce," she said. "Or even chicken instead of shrimp." She leaned against him a little. "Maybe I'll be able to talk Anna into something like that for dinner, it sounds good." |
Anna snickered. "The wall also can't jump to the side and swear at me in Italian," she teased, poking his side. "And don't think I don't know what you were saying, approximately."
"I am sure she could find something to accomodate you." Altair settled in there for the moment. |
