Families kept track just fine, Ezio knew. They were just careful about it.

"The old historic building," he said, nodding. "That makes sense. But regardless, these documents are wrong. Giovanni Auditore and two of his three sons died in 1476, not 1480." There. He'd cast the lure, now to see if the gentleman would take the bait.

The gentleman blinked, looking surprised, while he did some mental mad scrambing. Of course he knew that, but he wanted to know how these people knew.

"Oh? How do you know that? The records only show two sons."

"A reliable source," Ezio replied, just the slightest hint of a smirk. He gestured to the timeline on the page. "Most of these discrepancies are nearly seamless, and I would commend the one who changed them if I could." In fact, he had an idea of who had done it, and made a mental note to corner his sister about it if he ever got back to his proper time. "But the fact still stands that I know the truth."

"Signore, it is impossible to know the truth in this day and age." The gentleman let out a little laugh. "Unless, of course, someone has invented a time machine we do not yet know about. Now, if you all will excuse me, my family is expecting me for dinner."

Anna's eyes narrowed but she couldn't think of a reasonable reason to stay there any longer. She knew he knew the truth, and he probably had the original, undoctored records back in that room somewhere.

"Of course," Ezio replied mildly. "It is impossible to know the truth, because nothing is true." And if he'd read the man right, he would react to the partial phrase taken from the Creed. He wasn't sure if the reaction would be good or bad, but there would be a reaction.

The man stiffened and scooped up the box, moving it back into the records room and shutting the door once he'd returned.

"Of course," he said, looking at Ezio. "I suppose you speak from experience?" But he was already starting to herd them out to the door. He knew who they were now and he wanted them out of his house. Just because they were Assassins didn't mean they were automatically trustworthy, after all.

"I find experience to be the best teacher," Ezio replied. He noticed they were being herded back to the door. "Are you sure there is nothing else you can tell us about the records?" Not that the discussion was about the records anymore, and they both knew it.

"No, I'm quite sure. I have shown you the records, you have seen for yourself what they say. If you have any other questions I suggest you find a public archive." The gentleman got them all out the door and shut it before they could say anything else.

Anna huffed. "Well, I think that's the first time I've been thrown out of someone's house."

"He knows that we're aware of them, now," Ezio said. He gestured to the others. "Let them stew for a while over it. I'm sure something will happen soon."

Anna nodded. "Well, where now? Back to the hotel for a bit?" She figured they might as well, unless someone else had a genius plan.

Iris nodded.

"I like that plan," she said. Settling in for the evening sounded wonderful.

Ezio nodded as well. It was the best thing to do for the moment. It wasn't like they were trying to hide from the other Assassins at the moment, after all.

Anna nodded and headed back towards the hotel, looking over at Iris. "Let me know if you want to meet up for dinner later, if you feel up to it." She smiled a little. "We can even ditch them if you want." Then she grinned teasingly.

Altair snorted at that and walked a little closer to Iris. She wasn't even capable of 'ditching' him; he could find her no matter where she tried to hide in the city. If, however, she wanted space, he would give her space.

"Actually, dinner later sounds great," Iris replied. She grinned. "I was going to try to convince you that finding somewhere that made a good chicken alfredo was a good idea."

Ezio looked at them.

"As much as you may want to," he said, "I doubt splitting up would be a good idea tonight. We will likely have followers all night, and into tomorrow." At least, that was what he would do, if he were to send out people to tail someone.

"I figured," Anna said with a shrug. "But it's unlikely they'll attack us. They'll probably just watch." But she didn't say she was going to split them up.

"So, relax for a bit and then dinner in a couple hours?" She looked over at Iris again, raising her eyebrows.

Iris nodded.

"Definitely," she said. She grinned. "Maybe we should finish up the sightseeing we never got to last time, while we're here."

Anna snickered. "Sounds good to me. We can do that tomorrow." She stifled a yawn and headed up the stairs. "After we've adjusted a little more to the time difference."

Iris nodded. Jet lag was a bitch, sometimes.

"Nap," she said. "Then dinner. Sightseeing tomorrow."

"Sounds like a plan to me." Anna stretched briefly and stopped in front of the door to her room. "Let me know when you're awake again and want to go eat."

Iris nodded and waved to her friend, going into her own room. A nap sounded wonderful. Toeing off her shoes at the door, she went into the room and settled on the bed.

Altair checked the room habitually before sitting down next to her, resting one hand lightly on her shoulder so she could get settled in.

Anna checked the room as she entered, flicking on the lights, and then dumped her bag off to the side and took her shoes off with another yawn.

Iris cuddled a bit closer to him as she settled in for her nap.

"You can relax a little, you know," she murmured. "Even you could use a nap once in a while."

Ezio checked the room habitually as well, before following Anna in taking off his shoes and settling in for a bit.

Altair shrugged a little, smoothing his hand down her arm. "I do not require rest at the moment." He smiled faintly at her. "Besides, I do not mind."

Anna yawned again and headed for the bathroom, turning on the shower so the water would get warm while she stripped.

"Then at least settle in with me," Iris said, trying to tug him down with her. "So I can snuggle in properly." She grinned a bit.

Altair heaved a put-upon sigh (not that he meant it) and laid down next to her to rest with her.

And if he snuggled back, well, no one would ever know.

Iris smiled a bit and snuggled in happily.

"Thanks," she murmured.
