Yeah a lot of places in NZ are beautiful. The city sucks though lol. Which is where i live. Christchurch was beautiful because of all the old buildings and such - but a lot was damaged during the earth quake. And Auckland city is only nice at night - and if you happen to be on the waterfront or at the viaduct in town. City of sails and all haha.

Why thank you, thank you. I do consider myself to be quite the hobo fashion icon. I feel as if I could be the third Olsen twin/triplet.

Sha, it could have been tricky if you didn't know the right code, but it was really easy to figure out once you got the coding right.

Correct.

@Roachi-I'm not a fan of cities....no matter where in the world. I prefer real nature.

Roachi 02-07-2013 04:46 AM

@Cora - Well i live in a city but in the suburbs of course, not right in town lol. I only like the city because its close to shops/entertainment etc lol.
Otherwise i'd live in the country as well. *nods*

Nephila 02-07-2013 06:13 AM

I'd love to live out in the wild. When I was a kid I used to strip down to my undies and then throw one of my grandmothers shawls over my shoulders Tarzan style, then another crocheted one around my waste. The one I'd use for my shoulders was a fox shawl that was in the family for like a century or two. Then I'd go outside to hunt her wild strawberries and rhubarb also sometimes for bug, not to eat I'd play with them. Yeah... Probably the strangest kid in the neighborhood. XD

Seiki Nova 02-07-2013 07:11 AM

I want nothing more than to live right smack dab in the middle of a giant metropolitan city.

Roachi 02-07-2013 07:35 AM

@Neph - Sounds like fun!! Woulda loved to be your friend back in the daysss! Haha

@Seiki - Lmao!

Seiki Nova 02-07-2013 09:13 AM

I'm serious. I don't know how to survive out in a country-esque setting, or any type of rural setting. I was born and raised in Phoenix, with a brief couple of years in Tucson (which in comparison to Phoenix is tiny), and I'm used to the luxuries that metropolitan living have offered me. I don't do well in small towns or wilder areas. Plus, and this may seem ironic considering crime in larger cities is more abundant, but I feel safer knowing that I'm one out of hundreds of thousands of people, and perhaps millions if you consider the larger picture. For example, the city I live in is one of the more moderately populated suburbs in the Phoenix area, with just over 120,000 people, but Phoenix as a whole has a population of over 4,000,000 people. I would love to live somewhere like New York where the population is twice that of Phoenix, within a space that's more than 200 square miles less than that of Phoenix.

Or even in London, which has about 90 square miles more land mass than Phoenix, but double the population so that there's just a bit more breathing room.

But that's just me.

Roachi 02-07-2013 09:34 AM

Lol that's crazy seiki! But to each their own *nods*.
I mean i don't HATE cities. I like the convenience of everything. But to be in the country would be awesome. Not on my own though xD.
Wow 4 mil. Thats like the population of NZ haha.

Cora 02-07-2013 09:56 AM

I grew up in the country. And I mean.....cows in the middle of the road are not an uncommon thing

Seiki Nova 02-07-2013 09:59 AM

I mean, don't get me wrong. I think the country can be a beautiful place, especially in places like New Zealand which has such amazing landscapes and wildlife that I could never even imagine seeing in Arizona. I just don't like not being near people. I would feel cut off from society despite having access to internet, just because of proximity to other people.

Cora, I grew up down the street from a small dairy farm, but even then, that was only about ten miles from where I live now. Surprise hadn't really been built yet, but Litchfield Park was just as much a part of Phoenix as any other city in the metropolitan area.

Maria-Minamino 02-07-2013 10:47 AM

To be honest I hate cities >.< Small towns are okay...but big cities are scary. Since 2007, with the exception of one year during that time, I've lived in Orlando here in Florida. But I grew up in a small town that was literally a mile long. We were on an island and had beach all around us. We had homes, an elementary, middle, and high school....a grocery store, 2 fast food stores, and a 4 screen movie theatre that was and still is only $5 a ticket :)

And while that's not the country, to me, I love that so much better than Orlando. But I moved here for college and again for a job. So as long as I'm earning a living, I suck it up and deal.

Cora 02-07-2013 12:19 PM

My town has 200 people in it.

We have a post office, a drive in movie, a salon, a gas station, and a small cafe. that is it.

We have to go to the city if we want to go shopping.

---------- Post added 02-07-2013 at 01:19 PM ----------

I'm happy with the small town.....maybe not the neighbors....but I digress.

I need my space.

Vickyll3 02-07-2013 02:05 PM

Oh man the judges will have a hard time with this one
Make me wish I thought more out of the box

Whimzica 02-07-2013 02:15 PM

I grew up in the 'burbs; still here too. I dont think I'll ever willingly move to a city- my town has literally anything you could want store-wise, and I cant tolerate the crush of people in big cities. That, and I am a nervous driver after having my car totaled by another lady... So those skinny streets would drive me crazy. xD

Linnea 02-07-2013 04:56 PM

seiki is from phoenix? my favorite hockey team is in phoenix! i love my coyotes! :D

Seiki Nova 02-07-2013 07:12 PM

Sabiir, driving here is great, mostly. There aren't really any one-way streets, and the roads are set up like a grid so streets either go north-south or east-west. It's nearly impossible to get lost, and most roads are a minimum two-lanes. Plus we have two main interstates and four surrounding local freeways. The only place where driving is a problem is in downtown Phoenix where there are one way streets, because people don't know how to drive there. It's not something we're really trained, especially considering we don't have driving classes in schools anymore.

Linnea, I'm not a huge sports fan in general, but I've been to my fair share of Coyotes games. They're fun, and I like the coldness of the stadium! Phoenix is so hot most of the year.

blueblackrose 02-07-2013 10:23 PM

I grew up in a small town, but more or less in the country. If I ever had to go to a big city I would be totally lost. Give me the country or a small city and I'll be happy. Preferably the country though with some mountains nearby, lol.

bloodstainedwings 02-07-2013 10:40 PM

ok i have to say it, those entries are amazing! im super glad i didnt enter! lol. linnea's is breathtaking! and blue black rose's to me perfectly represents the theme. and all the hobo costumes! such variety and extensiveness! its brilliant! i would have totally been eliminated in the first round. well done each and every single one of you. you all won in my eyes, even if you dont by the judges. :)

Seiki Nova 02-07-2013 11:12 PM

For me, I would have to say that I think Linnea's is actually closest to my original intent for the challenge from when I originally wrote it way back when, but I thought it was fun to take a different approach on it so I went Hobo with my faux-entry.

bloodstainedwings 02-07-2013 11:30 PM

yeah i can see that. i have to admit that your hobo was the funniest. its kinda awesome and the iou just throws it over the top.

Project Mene 02-08-2013 12:58 AM

I remember building trash piles.

I think linnea occomplished what cami was trying to occomplish but lacked the items for back then.

Me too.
I didn't wanna get to "done up" though. Some items that i have seen been used are in my opinion to good to be trash/recycled items lol.
So i opted for the crappy hobo instead xD. I really wanted to put panties on his head, but didn't think that would count as recycled haha.
