I think it was more of a norm than a rule.

It comes down to the judges, don't count yourself out.

Nephi has immunity. So she's safe. ^.^ I like what she did, anyways. It made her avatar really look in a silent film. :3

It can be difficult to strike a good balance when it comes to avatar descriptions. Ideally you shouldn't need one, but sometimes the challenges leave so much up to interpretation that a little explanation is necessary to guide the slower judges (I.E. me). Just remember that the point of your description is to tell us how your avatar relates to the challenge, not necessarily a story about how or why you made the avatar (not accusing anyone of doing this, just an example of a description that isn't necessary). If you think your avatar can stand on its own and doesn't need anything to tell people how it relates to the challenge, then don't say anything at all.

To use an example, the first challenge did require some explanation because it was important to differentiate between direct cosplays, general inspiration, and more abstract inspiration (like Aya's, which was inspired by a scene, not any character), and what they were. But with the red carpet challenge, almost no explanation was needed at all, since we all knew exactly what your avatar was supposed to be, and it wasn't so up to interpretation. Exceptions would be the avatars inspired by real red carpet looks.

In general, just think "does my avatar make sense without this text? Is it obvious what I'm going for?" and if not, "could I say this with more brevity?"

I'm a hermit. On almost every site that has the option, I choose to be invisible, mainly because I don't want random PMs/profile posts from people who want something from me. (Like, "If you like this site, check out this other site!" or "Will you come to my thread and rate me? :c" - I'm not saying this sort of stuff happens on Mene or anything, just it's what's got me into the habit.)

Also, since it'll show you as "online" for up to about 15 minutes after you've logged off, I sometimes get PMs from people who want me to do something site-related and I won't know until I log on next - which may be something like 24 hours later. And every once in awhile, I get sick and don't even log in for a day or two so I get to figure out if they contacted someone else about whatever issue they had. And I get those even with being Invisible, so I figure I'd get more of them if I were Visible.

Yes. :) Though, like I said above, you'll show as "online" or "invisible" a bit longer after you've logged off, but everyone who is really "offline" shows as "offline".

Oh man, I always feel so bad when I log in to see a PM I got three hours earlier exactly ten minutes after I left, asking for help with something.

i thought as much about the descriptions and will admit i got carried away with the story to mine. but i was in a really creative mood and felt like it added to my entry as opposed to taking away from it. it was pretty obvious what i did... but still....

I try not to make any stories with my outfit because it just adds baggage.
I only explain why I do what I do. xD

I tried to not go all out with the description. Why I did what, or may a short back story (like for my current entry). :3

To nominate someone, you save their avatar to your computer, then upload it to imgur.com
Then you copy the nominating form that is posted on the first page and fill out the information (which is basically the person you're nominating (pinged) and the image of the avatar).

To vote, you just pick out the people you like most (the number of people you can vote for is determined by the amount of nominees), and pm User with their names. I usually title my pm "vote".
