His teeth clenched together of their own accord as he ran, his inhuman speed causing him to rush by at a pace that would have startled any humans that were foolish enough to roam about the streets at this time of night. The sky was black, clouds obscuring the now waning moon but it made no difference, not to a being with his senses. A cry was heard far in the distance, far enough away that no human would hear and he allowed a small gleam of triumph to enter his eyes. He had done it. He'd ran far enough away that there was no catching him, not tonight. They were too far behind and he knew how to cover his scent. There was no way they'd find him tonight.

He allowed his body to slow to that of a human's average running speed, deciding to be cautious and keep distance between himself and his persuers. They would not catch him, even at this speed tonight. As he slowed the rush of adrenaline calmed and he was finally able to actually feel his injuries. He mentally winced, not allowing himself to do it outwardly. This wasn't good. He hadn't fed tonight and his reserves were running low. On top of that he was injured, bleeding, spilling his precious life force, draining what strength he had left with each drop that left his body. He couldn't even begin to heal until he fed and in this state how was he to approach a potential?

As his strength waned further he slowed once more, now forced to move at walking pace lest he colapse from exhaustion in the middle of the street. He would be a target for every hunter in the area if such a thing happened and that he could not afford. He may not be the oldest of his kind, only being one hundred and ninety seven years old but that did not mean he was ignorant of the dangers posed by hunters, the killers of their kind. He looked about him cautiously, searching for a place to rest during the daylight hours as the sun would be rising in a few hours. Unlike the legends he would not turn to dust if the rays of light touched his skin but during the day his abilities were not nearly as strong, about half of their capacity at night.

He knew he wouldn't last much longer. He needed to rest, regain even a little of his strength. He swept his gaze around the area, searching for a place to curl up for a few minutes to rest. His eyes alighted on the entrance to al alley. It was rather dirty and the smells that wafted toward him in the cool night air were not pleasant but the alley provided shelter and there were plenty of objects inside which he could use for cover to shield himself against unwanted eyes. His decision made he slinked towards the alley, his thin body easily finding a place to hide between an overflowing skip and a pile of cardboard boxes. The area was thankfully dry as it had not rained in the last few days and Kieran used this to his advantage, pulling one of the boxes towards him, folding it up and creating a makeshift blanket from it. He allowed his head to fall against another box, it acting as a pillow of sorts. He told himself he would only stay here for a few minutes, let his strength return before he moved off again but as his eyes drifted shut his body had other ideas and, without it's owner's permission, fell into a deep sleep.
