"Alright. How should we split up?" Christine raised her eyebrows.

"Are any of you able to defend yourselves if necessary?" Harry asked.

"I can, I just need to grab something before we go hunting." Christine looked at Bahiti.

"I've always been able to look after my sisters," Bahiti said. "I'll be the one going." She paused again. "Athough Kali thinks I should go with Harry, since there really are only four or so places to search and five bodies here." She looked at Harry. "She kind of brings up a good point, you're the only one without a cell phone here."

"Electronic devices and magic don't play well." Harry shrugged. "I don't mind if you come with."

"Want me to go with them?" Christine asked, jerking her head at the brothers.

Bahiti nodded.

"Yeah," she said. "So we can all keep in touch without having to give out phone numbers."

"Alright." Christine looked at the brothers briefly. "Right, we'll head for the newer industrial district and start looking around there, and you two can head for the old industrial park. Sound good?"

Niko nodded once. If he had to he could keep Christine alive (if she couldn't defend herself well enough).

Cal nodded as well, although he didn't necessarily look pleased about it. He and Christine didn't exactly get along well, and he didn't want to have to look after her.

Bahiti nodded as well and looked at Harry.

"We may as well get going, then," she said. "The old industrial park is a fair distance. We'll have to drive."

"We better take the Beetle," Harry said with a little grimace. "Any other car might not last long enough."

Christine glanced at the brothers. "Driving would be faster," she agreed, raising an eyebrow. She had her car if they didn't want to drive.

Niko glanced at Cal with a raised eyebrow. He could certainly drive, and he knew Cal would likely be more comfortable with that, but he'd leave it up to Cal.

Cal just shrugged. He didn't care, really.

Bahiti nodded.

"Alright," she said. She paused, looked at the gigantic dog, and then back at Harry. "How does your dog even fit into your bitty clown-car Volkswagen?"

"About as well as I do," Harry replied dryly. "He'll take the back, he'll be fine."

Christine nodded and grabbed her keys. "Alright, my car is out front, we'll take that. You can sit in back." She looked at Cal with faintly narrowed eyes. Niko hid his amusement well.

Cal narrowed his eyes back in return, but didn't comment.

Bahiti nodded.

"Sorry if it sounded random," she said. "It was bugging Kali."

Harry just snorted. "It's a perfectly valid question, and you're not the first one to ask. Although it's usually because people are worried about getting squished by him."

Mouse just chuffed.

Christine unlocked her car and let them get settled in before she started driving. She kept part of her attention on Cal, though.

"Alright, here we are," she said as she picked a place to park a few minutes later. "I suppose you want me to stick in back so I won't be in the way."

Bahiti snorted.

"No worries of that here," she said. "Kali would muscle her way forward to cuddle him. Which she won't," she added meaningfully to her sister.

"I want you to stay where we can see you," Cal retorted as he glanced around.

Harry snickered as they made their way back to the Beetle.

"You'll have to give me directions," he said as he let Mouse in first so the dog could sprawl on the back seat.

Christine snorted and popped her trunk, pulling out her saber and slinging it across her back. "Well I'm not the one with experience here."

Bahiti nodded as she slid into the front passenger seat.

"Get back out to the main road and take it down twelve blocks," she said.

Cal just snorted and checked his guns briefly before glancing at his brother.

Harry nodded, driving quietly for the necessary blocks before he glanced at her again. It was almost odd to be out driving; they only passed two other people during the trip.

Niko rolled his eyes at both of them before he started walking. Christine kept to the side of Cal, out of his way, but still able to keep an eye on both him and Nik.

Bahiti kept giving directions until they made it to the abandoned industrial park.

"This is it," she said as she got out of the little car.

Cal stayed alert, looking for anything that seemed out of the ordinary. He wasn't entirely sure what they were looking for, but he was damn sure he'd know it when he found it.

Harry nodded and parked, letting Mouse out before he looked around.

"Well, let's start looking, shall we?"

Christine paused when she felt something odd brushing against her mental radar. It wasn't an angel, it felt different, but it did register.

"Uh, guys?" she said, stopping and looking in the direction the thing was coming from. It wasn't moving quickly, at least.

Cal paused and looked at her.

"What?" he asked. She looked a bit pale and more than a little uneasy.

Bahiti nodded and started methodically checking buildings and alleys.

"There's... something." Christine shivered briefly as something slithered over to the edge of a roof near them, yellowish eyes looking at them. The lesser demon hissed at them, and Christine shivered again.

Harry and Mouse started as well. It didn't take long for Mouse to start growling at something in one of the buildings.

Cal's gun was up and pointed at the lesser demon before he even realized it was there. He glanced at Niko peripherally, not letting the demon out of his sight. The moment the thing made a move, he was ready to shoot it.

Bahiti tensed when Mouse started growling. Clearly, the dog was not a normal dog, and she was willing to trust it when it indicated it found something.

Niko drew his blade, watching the lesser demon as well. It hadn't moved quickly yet, but that didn't mean it couldn't. He was oddly approving when he noted that Christine had also drawn her saber.

The demon looked at them before it hissed again and leapt at Christine.

Harry's eyes narrowed as more of the former-almost-people started towards them, moving out of the buildings and from farther down the street. "Well, this should be fun," he murmured, pulling out his blasting rod.

Cal's reaction was instantaneous and violent. He pulled the trigger on his gun, firing several quick shots into the demon's head. Not one of them missed.

"This is from the sickness," Bahiti muttered as she backed up a tiny bit and pulled out a knife. "It does that to people." She watched as the former-almost-people moved towards them. "God, this feels like every zombie movie ever made."

The demon fell in a lump, and Christine swallowed.

"Well, that's interesting," she managed.

"No kidding. Let's try not to get bitten, then, shall we?" Harry looked at the things. "Any chance of getting them back to normal, do you think?"

"Oh yeah, real interesting," Cal replied, watching to make sure the demon didn't get up again and ready to shoot it if it tried.

"We have no idea," Bahiti replied. She paused for a second. "No, wait, Tamara vaguely thinks that maybe they may turn back once the cause of the sickness is taken out. Maybe. She hopes."

"Well, I'd guess that's demonic." Christine wrinkled her nose at the sulfuric smell, prodding it with her boot. "Nice shooting. Although I'm sure you're disappointed you didn't accidentally hit me."

"Right. Now, what do we do about them?" Harry looked at the former people, which were still advancing, albeit slowly.
