Cal nodded. He knew Nik worked best when he wasn't being pestered about it.

"Come on, then," he said, "let's see what we can find for food around here. There has to be something around."

Niko snorted at his brother but obliged him and went to search for food. He figured he might as well, after all.

The Tryad didn't leave the house for another day at a half. None of the three liked the idea of going out, but Bahiti made the point that they needed to see what was happening out there, so the other two reluctantly agreed. So, with Bahiti in control, they ventured out to see what was going on.

Christine went with so she could see for herself.

Very few people were out now, and maybe half of the people that were weren't entirely human anymore, having been effected by the virus.

Niko was still frustrated because he wasn't any closer to figuring out the source of the virus, either. He was starting to get kind of pissed.

Bahiti hadn't been able to convince Christine to stay home where it was safe, so she settled on staying close to look after her.

Meanwhile, one very wary professional wizard had finally made his way to Pittsburgh to see what was going on.

Christine paused when she saw the rather distinctive car, her eyebrows shooting up. Okay, that was a little odd, even for Pittsburgh. She glanced over at Bahiti.

"What do you think?" she asked quietly.

Bahiti looked at the car and raised an eyebrow.

"I've never seen that before," she said. "Why would anyone be coming into the city? Everyone else is trying to leave."

Christine shook her head, perplexed. "That car kind of stands out, even in a city," she said quietly. "Maybe we should keep track of it for a bit, or try and track down the owner?"

"It wasn't there before," Bahiti pointed out. "So it means the owner must still be nearby. I think we should watch it for a little while and see."

Christine nodded and found a good spot to hunker down and wait. "I wonder why they came?" she asked quietly. "I mean, the whole country knows by now to avoid this spot, so why come here?"

"Dunno," Bahiti replied. She was quiet for a moment, waiting to see if her sisters had any input. "Kali thinks maybe they want to see what's going on, like us."

"That makes a certain amount of sense," Christine admitted. "I'm pretty sure those two guys are trying to figure it out, too. I know I've seen them out and about."

Bahiti nodded.

"We have, too," she confirmed. She was quiet for a moment, and then blinked. "Tamara--" She didn't get to finish, because she was pushed out of the way by her sister. Skin lightened, hair shortened and turned red, and eyes turned blue.

"I think the blonde one might suspect something," Tamara admitted uneasily. "About us. The three of us."

"Well, that's... unusual," Christine offered cautiously. "No one's guessed anything before. But it might not be horrible, since he hasn't come hammering the door down or anything yet, right?"

"I don't know," Tamara replied. She bit her lip slightly. "We don't know if he knows or not. We've been trying to be so careful, but the way he was just... studying Kali, like she was a bug on display... I don't know, it felt weird. I think he might suspect."

Christine nodded. Yeah, she knew how that felt. Shaking herself briefly, she looked back at the car.

"Want me to do anything about it?"

Tamara seriously considered saying yes. Bahiti wanted her to say yes. She opened her mouth--

"Not yet."

--And the voice that came out was Kali's, instead.

Christine nodded after a moment. "Okay," she said quietly. "Just say the word if you change your mind."

"We will," Tamara promised, her voice a little higher than normal as she wrestled the shared vocal cords back from Kali.

Christine nodded and then paused when she noticed a very tall, scraggly-looking guy in a leather trench coat walking down the street towards the car.

"That looks like him," she said dryly.

Tamara turned to look. After a moment, she nodded.

"Guy, car, they match," she commented.

"They do indeed." Christine watched the guy go over to his car and rummage around in it for a bit, glancing at Tamara. "So what do we want to do now?"

Tamara thought for a moment before she was pushed out of the way by Kali.

"This," she said. Kali glanced around cautiously and then darted across the street. "You look a bit lost," she commented to the man, although she didn't get too close. "Do you need any help or anything?"

Dresden looked over at the girl who'd approached him. He didn't think many people would be out and about now, but here one was.

"Yeah, I'm fine," he said with a little shrug. "Are you okay? I mean, I haven't noticed a lot of people out, what with this virus and all."

"Me? I'm fine," Kali replied. "I was just curious, I mean, we haven't seen anyone coming into the city lately. Everyone's been trying to get out." She ignored the uneasy mutterings of her sisters as she spoke.
