"I suppose, but I also shudder to think what would happen if three wizards inhabited the same space. It's bad enough getting two or three of us in a room." Harry grinned briefly.
Kali couldn't help but laugh.
"Assuming for a moment that you and three brothers would be otherwise normal," she amended. |
Harry snickered. "I have a half-brother, and he is far from normal."
"Really?" Kali asked. She was intrigued. "What's he like?"
"He's..." Harry floundered for a few moments. "Well, he's a flirt, but he's a lot of fun, when we don't have people after one or the other of us. He has a hair salon, and he puts on this atrocious French accent and likes to pretend he's my lover to embarrass me, but he's a good brother. He's helped me out a number of times."
Kali grinned.
"Sounds like a blast," she said. "If you don't mind my asking, which of you is older?" |
"Thomas is. Not that he acts it." Harry rolled his eyes, though he was grinning.
"Aww, you're the little sibling," Kali teased. "I know what that's like."
"Are you technically the youngest?" Harry asked. "And how would that work, anyway? Wouldn't you all technically be born at the same time since you share a core?"
"I'm the youngest," Kali replied, nodding. "Then Bahiti, then Tamara. It's... complicated. Birth order is determined by which face appears first, so to speak. Tamara's was the first, then Bahiti, and then me."
"Okay." That was still kind of odd, but oh well. He could deal with it. "Well, I think that's up there in the top twenty weirdest things I've seen or heard of. I think."
Kali shrugged.
"That's how a Tryad works," she said. |
Harry nodded again and glanced around.
"Think we should get the others and start forming a plan?" |
"If Christine's finished pulverizing the random protein she intended to cook," Kali said, nodding.
"Everything okay with her?" Harry raised an eyebrow. Because she'd looked flustered when she came in.
"Yeah," Kali replied. "She just wanted some time to get her thoughts in order."
Harry nodded, grinning briefly. He hadn't missed that blush earlier, but he was tactful enough not to comment.
Finishing her tea, Kali got up.
"Anyone else want some tea?" she asked to the room at large. "I'm going to make some more." |
"Sure," Harry said after a moment. "Thanks."
Kali looked over at the brothers.
"Either of you?" she asked. Cal just made a face and shook his head. |
Niko hesitated a moment before he nodded.
"If it's not a bother." Because while it probably wouldn't be as good as his tea (one of the few things he splurged on) it would likely be at least half-way good. |
"No bother at all," Kali said. "White, green, or black?"
"Green." Niko looked at her for a moment before his lips quirked a little and he returned his attention to Cal. Just because Cal was blind and didn't listen to other people didn't mean Niko was in the dark.
Kali nodded and glanced at Harry.
"Same question," she said. "White tea, green tea, or black tea?" |
"Um, black?" Harry shrugged. "Doesn't make much difference to me." He settled back on a chair, Mouse laying next to him.
