"Oh god I already know I won't be able to." Leila laughed though. "Oh, even better: the Gary Oldman version. Since he's awesome in and of himself, and then you add your uncle on top..."
"The Bela Lugosi version is classic," Katherine protested, although she was still grinning. She liked the Gary Oldman version, too. "And Gary Oldman's hair looks like a butt for half the movie, you can't look at it without snickering." False protests, the lot of it.
"That just makes it more fun," Leila said with a grin. "Besides, I like both versions. So there." And she stuck her tongue out. Because clearly that was just that.
"Well, we can watch both, if you want," Katherine said. "I'm sure we can find them on pay-per-view."
"Sure. Sounds good to me." Leila smiled and settled in, getting comfortable on the bed. It had been a while since their last movie night, so she was looking forward to this.
Katherine nodded and turned on the TV, searching through the listings. When she couldn't find it on normal local and satellite listings, she opened the pay-per-view menu.
"1931 or 1992?" she asked her friend. |
"Let's start off with 1931. Then we can move on to 1992." Leila grinned.
"Sounds like a plan to me," Katherine said as she started the Bela Lugosi movie. Then she settled in with Leila.
Leila ended up staying up and watching the entirety of both movies, highly amused now that she'd met the actual Count. However, just before sunrise (which was about how long it took them to get through the movies) she started zoning out, clearly getting ready to just konk out.
Katherine made note of the time when she saw Leila getting tired. When the second movie ended, she turned off the TV.
"See if you can get some sleep," she said softly. "We can go find something to eat once you've had some rest. Sound good?" |
"Uh huh." Leila yawned, cuddling into her bed. "Night. Wake me if I'm not already up before noon." Because she wanted to keep a somewhat normal, human schedule. That was more important to her than eating red meat or her energy levels.
Katherine nodded and moved over to the other bed. She would settle in with a book for a while and let Leila sleep.
Leila fell asleep as soon as the sun rose, burrowing into her bed and sleeping very soundly. Although she did roll over once or twice and rearrange the bedding to her liking.
Katherine dozed a little, but didn't let herself actually sleep. She knew if she did, she'd sleep through till sunset. So she dozed and set a just-in-case alarm for noon.
Liela woke up when the alarm went off, groaning and rolling over onto her stomach. Nope. Too early. She was going back to sleep now.
Katherine opened her eyes when the alarm went off, and took her first breath in hours.
"Time to get up," she said to Leila, reaching over to nudge her. "You said you wanted to be up for noon." |
Leila groaned. "Changed my mind. Too early." She pulled her pillow over her head, but now that she'd been woken up there would be no getting back to sleep. She scowled at nothing.
Katherine went and plopped down on Leila's bed, making sure to bounce her friend.
"You should still get up," she said. "You don't want to go completely nocturnal, it's hard to come back from." |
Leila groaned but pushed herself upright slowly, still wishing she was asleep.
"Okay, I'm up," she said around a huge yawn. "What now?" |
"Hungry?" Katherine asked. "It's lunchtime, we can go find you something and then wander about for a while."
"Alright." Leila yawned again. "Just let me get dressed, then we can go." She rubbed some sleep out of her eyes, zombieing her way over to her bag to get out clean clothes.
Katherine nodded, and went to start rummaging in her own bag. She didn't have a thermos with her, this time, but it wouldn't be too hard for her to find her own meal once it got dark outside. She would make do.
Leila changed clothes quickly and brushed her hair back before she felt a little more awake, and she nodded. "Okay, I think I'm ready now."
"Then let's go see what we can find," Katherine replied, slipping her shoes on. "After we get you some lunch, maybe we can find some good shopping or something."
"Or we can do the whole tourist thing," Leila said with a shrug, grabbing shoes and her purse. "I'm sure we can go walk around the city or get on a tour bus or something."
