"Yeah, but you can eat people without actually eating people. I mean, blood bags and all that." Leila shrugged. "That's not actually hurting anyone."
"True," Katherine said. She shrugged a bit. "Live is a treat nowadays. But bagged is much easier."
Leila nodded. She could understand that. "Well, bring Carlos around to your way of thinking and then I'll work on house-training him." She grinned broadly.
Katherine laughed.
"I'll work on that," she promised. |
Leila grinned and nodded her approval.
"So, I'm still all packed up. And we probably won't be leaving until tomorrow night, at this point. What do we want to do?" |
"I was going to ask Uncle if I could see the pack tonight," Katherine said with a shrug. "Might be fun. What do you think?"
"That would be fun to see. I don't know if they'll let me close but I could always watch from the house." Leila grinned. Wolves were pretty, after all.
"We can ask Uncle," Katherine replied. "They may not let me close, either. I didn't inherit shape-changing at all."
Leila nodded. "Well, whenever you want. I've got no plans for the night except maybe relaxing and possibly watching a movie." She shrugged.
"Let me go and ask, then, before he heads out." With that, Katherine headed towards Vlad's study.
Vlad looked over at her with a little smile. "You have a question?" he asked, raising his eyebrows at her. Of course he didn't mind.
"I was just wondering, Uncle," Katherine said. "Would the pack object if Leila and I wanted to visit tonight?"
"They should be alright with you," Vlad said slowly, thinking it over. "But Leila... They're not used to humans." He shrugged. "I can see what I can do, if you'd like, but I don't guarantee anything."
"I just wanted to ask, Uncle." Katherine grinned a bit. "Although, when we were in Bucharest, that 1920's Bela Lugosi movie was on. You've seen it before, right, Uncle?"
Vlad gave her a droll look. "Of course I've seen it," he said, his voice dry. "I did hear your friend, you know."
"Oh I know," Katherine replied, still smiling sweetly. "There's a rumor about it, you know. That you've said the famous lines before."
"I'm sure there are plenty of unsubstantiated rumors," Vlad said, his voice still dry. "I suppose there is a reason you are mentioning this now?"
"There might be," Katherine hedged. She looked at him hopefully. "I know you get satellite here, Uncle. If I can find the movie again, would you watch it with us?"
Vlad heaved a put-upon sigh, looking martyred. "Very well," he agreed. "If you can find the movie. And I make no guarantees of anything. But I will sit and watch, if nothing else." Oh, the things he did to spoil that girl...
Katherine grinned.
"Thanks, Uncle," she replied. Oh yes, she was spoiled. And she knew it very well. |
Vlad huffed, although he looked vaguely amused.
"Go supervise your friend and make sure she doesn't get into trouble," he said instead. "I'll go speak to the pack and I'll let you know their decision." |
Katherine nodded and kissed his cheek, and then went to find Leila. The evening was looking very good for the moment.
Leila was out and wandering about the castle again. She'd gotten bored, and she had the feeling she could explore this place for a long time and not get bored.
Especially with all the old things she kept finding. |
It didn't take Katherine long to find her.
"There you are," she said. |
"I like wandering around in here," Leila said with a grin. "It's fun. So what did you get out of your uncle and do I need to hide under a bed for a while?"
