"Uncle is going to go talk to the pack and see if we can visit them at some point," Katherine said. Then she grinned brightly. "And then he's going to watch the 1920's Dracula with us, if I can find it on satellite."
Leila stared at her for a few seconds before she dissolved in giggles.
"Oh god," she gasped. "Please, please do! He even agreed to it willingly? No blackmail or torture or anything?" |
Katherine grinned.
"He spoils me," she said. "He said he'd watch it with us. No guarantees of anything else." |
"That's okay. Just watching it with him is going to be hysterical. The only thing that would be better would be the Gary Oldman version, but I'm also partial to Gary Oldman." Leila grinned.
"Bela Lugosi is classic," Katherine replied. "Beg the Gary Oldman version on your own time." She grinned a bit.
Leila just snickered and shook her head.
"So what are we doing for the time being? Just waiting for him to let you know if the pack will see you or not?" |
"Pretty much," Katherine replied. "Although Uncle is asking if you can go too. That's what I asked him. But for now, I want to see if I can possibly find that movie. It's too good an opportunity to let slip."
"If we don't find the movie we have to order it," Leila said with a grin. "I'll pay for it, I don't care. He agreed, I'm not letting this opportunity go."
Katherine laughed.
"Good girl," she said. "Come on, let's go to the den. Uncle let one of the family completely upgrade everything, so all the technology is new." |
Leila grinned and followed her, somewhat more comfortable in that room. She sat down and started flipping through the channels to find the movie.
"Any idea how long he'll be?" |
"Not sure," Katherine replied. "Listen for the wolves singing. I don't know if you'll be able to hear it in here, but that usually signals Uncle coming and going for the pack."
Leila nodded. She'd be surprised if she could hear them, but she'd certainly try to. Hey, she'd admit she was curious about the wolves.
Once they had found the movie, Katherine stretched out to wait for Uncle to come back.
Leila sat up a bit when she heard something outside and glanced over at Katherine.
"Wolves?" she guessed, keeping her voice quiet. |
Katherine nodded, closing her eyes a bit as she listened.
"They're singing," she said softly. "It's always so beautiful." |
Leila smiled a little but didn't say anything else, just listening for now. She couldn't hear them very well, but what she could hear was pretty. And nice to listen to.
The chorus how howls died down for a little while, which Katherine was expecting. When it started back up briefly, she grinned.
"And that's the signal that Uncle's coming back." |
"And then we'll have our news." Leila grinned briefly. Now she was looking forward to this too. Even if she just had to sit inside and watch.
"Right," Katherine replied, grinning. She didn't bother getting up; she knew Uncle would be able to find them easily. Indeed, it wasn't five minutes later that the door to the den opened. Vlad raised an eyebrow slightly when he saw the movie already set up, and he give both girls an indulgent look.
Leila grinned innocently, although she did look at Vlad somewhat expectantly. Clearly he was going to be the one in charge here, so she was just waiting.
"The wolves are unsure about a human visitor," Vlad said as he went to claim his large, wing-backed chair. "They would not mind one of my own, but they are uneasy about a human with some of the females so close to birthing pups."
Leila shrugged. "I can stay inside," she said easily. "I can probably see from a window." Clearly she wasn't too worried about that. Yeah, it would have been nice to get close, but she also wasn't overly surprised.
"Perhaps they will agree another time," Vlad said. He glanced at Katherine.
"Another time then, Uncle," she said. She wasn't going to go without Leila, if she could help it. "Maybe once the pups are born." Vlad nodded, and settled back into his chair. |
Leila nodded and relaxed back in her chair, content to just settle in for a while. And hopefully watch the movie.
Katherine went over and pushed 'play' on the remote. Then she sat back, grinning a bit. Vlad gave an almost inaudible sigh and settled in for the movie.
