Leila grinned, clearly pleased, and settled in to watch. Because, really, this was just too priceless.
Katherine was looking forward to it, as well. Half-way through the movie, at the 'intermission,' she got up and stretched a bit.
"I'm going to make a run to the kitchen, any requests?" she said. |
"Nope, I'm good." Leila grinned and settled in on the couch, still very comfortable. And very pleased with life.
"Uncle?" Katherine said, looking at Vlad. "Anything to drink?" Vlad looked at her.
"I do not drink... wine," he said, with a completely straight face. Katherine blinked, and then dissolved into giggles. |
Leila clapped a hand over her mouth, trying to stifle her laughter. Although she wasn't doing a very good job.
"You were waiting for that, Uncle," Katherine gasped between giggles. "You were waiting for that... that moment."
"Perhaps," Vlad replied, the faintest traces of a smile forming. |
When Leila calmed down enough to speak, she grinned at Vlad. "Best. Uncle. Ever," she said to Katherine. "So damn lucky."
Katherine just grinned and sat back down. She didn't even want to go to the kitchen anymore.
Leila grinned and relaxed back in her seat for the second half of the movie. Life was definitely good.
Katherine settled in, as well, now absurdly pleased with life.
Leila finally started yawning after the movie was finally over, leaning back against the couch. She hadn't seen Carlos yet, so she figured he was either packing or still figuring out plane tickets. Either way, she was ready for a nap.
By the time the movie was over, it was nearly midnight. There was plenty of starlight to burn, yet, so Katherine ushered Leila upstairs to bed. Once Leila was in bed, maybe Katherine would join Uncle with the wolves.
Leila settled in bed, although she was curious to see what Carlos was up to.
"Do we know when we're leaving yet?" she asked as she got settled in bed, looking over at Katherine. |
"Not until tomorrow evening at the earliest," Katherine replied. "I'll talk to Carlos before he beds down for the day and get all the details."
Leila nodded. "Okay. Well, I'm going to see how much sleep I can get. Go ahead and go play with the wolves; I know you want to."
"Guilty as charged," Katherine said sheepishly. She gave her friend a hug. "Get some sleep. I'll have all the details for you tomorrow."
"Alrighty. Have fun." Leila hugged her briefly before letting go of her so she could go running.
"I will," Katherine replied. With that, she turned and left, going to see if she could catch Uncle before he went out to run.
Vlad was still getting ready to go again, and he paused when he heard Katherine approaching.
"Changed your mind?" he asked quietly. |
"The night is still young," Katherine replied, toeing off her shoes. "Leila is asleep, I'm not sure where Carlos is and I don't care to look." She looked at him. "Should I not come with you?"
Vlad waved her concerns away. "Of course you may still come." He motioned for her to follow him, leading the way outside.
Katherine nodded and followed him out to the woods. She was looking forward to visiting the pack.
Leila got up a little later than normal the next day, deciding to just wait for the others and walk around outside for a while.
So when it was finally dark again, she was very much awake and waiting to see when they'd be leaving. |
Carlos had gotten up at sundown, and was already checking to make sure all the flight reservations went through. Once he was sure they had, he sauntered down to the kitchen to get some breakfast.
"Is Kitty up?" he asked when he saw Leila. "We need to get going soon." |
"I haven't seen her yet," Leila said with a shrug. "I assume she's off somewhere sleeping, but I'm not sure." She looked over at him, washing a few dishes. "How soon are we leaving?"
