"Ah. Alright." Leila nodded and relaxed back against the seat. "Alright, then. How long is the first hop?"
"Two hours," Carlos replied. "The second hop is three. Counting the time we'll spend at the airports, that's all I could book us tonight."
Leila nodded. "Yeah, that makes sense. That'll take us almost all night." She grimaced briefly. "Well, hopefully it won't be too horrible."
"It'll be fine," Carlos said. He grinned. "I'm good at finding the good flights."
"It isn't like the old days," Katherine commented. "When one could just imitate a corpse in a box and be okay." |
"That sounds like it would have been much easier." Leila shrugged. "But it is a lot harder now, what with customs and stuff."
"You have no idea," Carlos said.
"Neither do you, youngster," Katherine replied, actually to the point of almost teasing him. "I have two and a half centuries on you. I remember when you had to sail to get anywhere off the continent." |
"And that would be where I cross the line. God I hate sailing. I get seasick." Leila shivered. "Planes are so much easier."
"They are now," Katherine pointed out. "Not at first." She stretched a bit. "But that's in the past."
Leila nodded. "That's true. I'm just glad transportation is better now, and that I wasn't born like fifty years ago."
"Cars have come a hell of a long way," Carlos agreed. "And boats and everything."
"Yeah but I still don't like boats." Leila scowled. "They suck. Never going on a cruise."
"A pity, you're missing out," Katherine teased. She had been on a cruise before. It wasn't her favorite experience, but it hadn't been bad.
Leila snorted her disbelief of that but didn't comment again.
"Hey, I've been on a cruise before," Katherine said. "It wasn't bad."
"Probably almost cooked," Carlos snorted. "Not like you would have," Katherine jabbed back. |
Leila snorted. "Now, now," she said with a brief grin. "No need to start squabbling. We haven't even gotten to the airport yet."
Both vampires just huffed and turned away from one another.
Leila chuckled. "If the whole trip is going to be like this I'm going to be very disappointed," she commented idly.
"I wanted to leave him behind," Katherine pointed out.
"I didn't want to come in the first place," Carlos retorted. |
"I know," Leila said to both of them. "But we might as well make the best of it rather than driving each other crazy, hmm?" She gave them meaningfully looks.
"Tell that to Kitty," Carlos said. Katherine, though, remained stubbornly prideful and didn't say anything.
Leila sighed and settled back in her seat, deciding to wait it out. Not like she had anything better to do.
She just hoped the whole trip wouldn't be so bad, though. |
The car dropped them off at the airport with very little talking. Katherine still didn't want to speak to Carlos and even he wasn't baiting Katherine like usual. Instead, he just went to get their boarding passes.
Leila sighed and followed Katherine around, making sure their things all got where they needed to go before she took her boarding pass from Carlos with a murmured thanks.
Katherine took her boarding pass silently. She still wasn't going to talk to Carlos at the moment, she was far too prideful.
Carlos, on the other hand, was back to his normal self. "Plane should be boarding soon," he said to Leila. |
Leila nodded. "Alright. Well, hopefully it'll be a good trip." She smiled at him, settling in to wait for a bit so they could board.
