"Too big and cold and not fuzzy enough," Kae mumbled, moving one hand to card her fingers through his hair.
Steve moved for her obligingly and blinked at her. "I missed you too," he said quietly, settling his hands carefully on her back. |
"Not fuzzy enough?" Bruce repeated, a little amused.
Elaine nuzzled him a bit. "And right now I want you," she murmured. |
"Yes, fuzzy. Your hair is fuzzy. Shut up, don't tease me." Kae ducked her head.
Steve blinked. Twice. "You sure?" he asked quietly, though he didn't try to stop her. "I mean, it's been a long day for you..." |
Bruce just chuckled and didn't comment.
"I'm sure," Elaine said. She turned a bit red. "I-I mean, if you don't want to, that's fine, I don't want to be pushy..." |
Steve just shook his head and kissed her again, his arms tightening a little around her.
|
Elaine grinned and returned the kiss with enthusiasm.
A while later, she snuggled up next to him with a pleased sigh. "Thanks," she murmured to him. |
Steve chuckled quietly. "Feel better now?" he teased gently, rubbing circles in her back.
|
"Mmmm, much," Elaine replied as she snuggled closer.
|
Steve smiled and stayed there, relaxing with her happily enough for a while.
|
Elaine settled in and drifted off, using him as a pillow.
|
Steve slept easily through the night, still relaxed when he woke up the next morning. He paused. Even a floor down he could smell something baking.
|
The smell of baking woke Elaine.
"Mmm, Kae's making cinnamon rolls," she commented softly, stretching a little. |
Steve nodded. "Sure smells that way," he said with a grin. "Smells good. Think she has enough for us?"
|
"She'd better," Elaine replied. She grinned a bit. "I should send you down to get some, but I'm the only one who gets to see you like this."
|
Steve laughed quietly. "Well that's good, I don't really want to go upstairs undressed." He kissed her once quickly. "Let's get dressed and go see what we can find then shall we?"
|
Elaine grinned and returned the kiss.
"Sounds like a plan to me," she said. |
Steve got up first and tossed some clothes on the bed for her before getting dressed himself.
|
Elaine admired him for a few moments before getting out of bed and putting clothes on.
"Let's go and see what all there is for breakfast," she said once she was decent. |
Steve nodded and waited for her to be ready before he led the way up to the main room.
Kae already had one batch of cinnamon rolls ready, along with two batches of apple turnovers: one for Coulson, one for the others to fight over amongst themselves. |
"Smells good, Kae," Elaine said as she walked into the kitchen. "Any special reason for all the baking?"
|
"Well I promised Coulson I'd have apple turnovers for him today, and I know Clint loves apple turnovers so I had to make a second batch so he'd leave the first batch alone. And everyone loves cinnamon rolls." She shrugged.
|
"Well, I'll take a couple of the cinnamon rolls off your hands," Elaine said with a grin. "And some coffee, if it's already made."
|
"Probably, I swear, that thing is almost sentient," Kae grumbled, though she was quite happy to sip at her own cup of coffee, sliding a cinnamon roll on a plate over to Bruce and then handing a plate with three to Elaine. "Let me know if you need more."
|
"It might be," Elaine said when Kae commented on the coffee maker. "Don't doubt that for a second, who knows what Tony could have done to it." Reaching over, she took the plate. "Thanks for these."
Bruce nodded to Kae when she passed him a plate and then looked at Steve. "I'm guessing you slept well last night," he said. He almost hesitated, then added, "you might want to ask Tony to make the walls on your floor a little thicker." |
"No problem." Kae whistled cheerfully and put a cinnamon roll on a plate when she saw Clint drag himself in, plopping the cinnamon roll in front of him. She just had to snicker when he lit up like that though.
Steve turned a shade of red not often found in nature and nodded, not quite able to form a proper response other than that. |
