Strange nodded. "One more thing. Those implants are of Tony's design, yes?"
"Yeah," Elaine said. "Why?" Absently, she switched them back on and blinked a bit as everything came into focus.
"I would imagine they will be fine," Strange said. "Many of his things are, especially those bots of his. But if it shows any signs of malfunctioning, stop and call me." It wouldn't be the first time he'd had to help magic-proof some of Tony's tech, after all.
Elaine nodded.
"Alright," she said. "I'll speak up if anything happens." |
"Good." Strange stood and smiled faintly at her. "If you haven't heard from me before then, contact me in a week."
"Alright," Elaine said. "Is there a number I can reach you at, or should I just have Bruce do it again?"
Strange handed her a slip of paper with his number and address on it before he nodded to her and Kae both.
Elaine tucked the paper into her pocket. As soon as Strange was gone, she grinned widely.
"This is going to be awesome," she said to Kae. |
Kae laughed. "Once you get the hang of it," she agreed. "But it will be fun, I bet."
"It's awesome," Elaine said again. She went over and sat on a bit of empty counterspace.
Kae snickered. "Oh good, soon I won't be the only newbie at something." She floated over a cup of coffee and condiments for Elaine.
"Not that you're much of a newbie anymore," Elaine pointed out as she pulled the coffee cup out of the air and set it next to her. She grabbed the milk and sugar next and mixed some into her coffee.
"Yeah well this is what happens when I can't sleep and end up practicing for a few hours instead." Kae grinned briefly. "I bet when you can do things you won't be able to stop practicing, either."
"Nope," Elaine said shamelessly. "Not at all. Everything I can wrap my mind around."
Kae snickered. "Yup. You'll have fun with it." She grinned. "And the rest of us will probably get some entertainment out of it."
"I bet," Elaine said, grinning. "Ten bucks says it only takes one explosion for Tony to give me my own space to work."
"Oh he will," Kae said with a grin. "Possibly even before you blow anything up. You realize now you'll be banned from the lab too right?"
"Temporarily," Elaine pointed out with a grin. "Just like you." She paused for a moment. "I almost want to ask you if I can drag Bruce with me out to the park, because if I'm going to be meditating out there I want someone there who actually likes meditating, but it might not be the best idea."
"What, him in the park or him around magic? Because I'm pretty sure he's okay with both." Kae shrugged. "You can ask him if you want. He's pretty good at knowing what he can and can't get away with."
"There are two reasons it might not be a good idea," Elaine said. She held up two fingers. "One: Tony won't appreciate me comandeering his science bro for magic training, as that is blasphemous towards tech and everything it does." She grinned a bit at that. "And two," she continued, her voice softening a little, "Steve would probably want to go with me instead."
Kae snickered, and then shook her head. "Well, it's your call," she said. "I'm sure Steve will want to go with you, but he'll also understand if he can't. Or, hell, take both of 'em."
"I'm not taking your man and mine," Elaine said. She tried so hard to keep a straight face. "That's just greedy." And then she broke down giggling.
Kae started laughing too, unable to help herself. Eventually she shook her head.
"Besides, Cap probably doesn't want to share." She grinned. |
"You have no idea," Elaine said, grinning. "He's ridiculously possessive and protective." She paused. "Not that I'm complaining at all."
"Why would you?" Kae grinned. "Bruce is more laid-back about things. Generally." She paused for a moment. "And, getting it out of the way, Strange was kind of hot."
