"Alright, then let's get everything up to the register and get out of here so we can meet up with the others," Elaine said, gesturing to the front counter closest to the mall entrance.
|
Tony nodded and paid for everything without even thinking about it.
"Alright, so, who wants food?" He grinned, heading for the food court. |
"Kae and the others are already there," Elaine said as she kept an eye on her group.
|
"Oh good, I won't be the only one scarfing down food." Tony grinned when he spotted them and sauntered over to the other group to possibly steal food.
"Hey! Tony! No! Get your own!" Kae hoarded her French fries, scowling at him. |
Clint just snickered, protecting 'her' own lunch. Although s/he did, discretely, offer some to Natasha.
Elaine just rolled her eyes and went to get her own lunch before sitting down at the table next to Kae. |
Kae pushed Tony off to get her own food, slumping back in her seat and sucking on her shake.
"I think today is almost as tiring as the day they got turned into kids." |
"Kids are easier to keep track of," Elaine replied. "You can drag them along if you have to."
|
"True." Kae sighed. "Oh crap we should call Phil and tell him. Just in case."
|
"I'm going to as soon as we get back," Elaine said. "I didn't think this was something we should spring on Phil so early in the day, especially on his quote-unquote 'day off'." She snorted. "Although if that man has ever taken a real, legitimate day off in his entire career..." She shook her head.
|
"I seriously doubt he has," Kae said, rolling her eyes. "We should make him. Make him take a day off and do nothing but lay around and read a book."
|
"Ten bucks says he physically can't," Elaine challenged. "He cannot go one day without working."
|
Kae snickered. "We will have to test this," she said with a grin. "No Avengers babysitting, no files, no StarkPads, no work."
|
"I really don't think he can," Elaine said, grinning. She looked at the group. "Clint, Natasha, what are the odds of Phil being able to take a day off and not work at all?"
Clint just snorted. "Probably none." |
"None," Natasha agreed evenly. He hadn't ever taken a real day off the entire time Natasha had known him.
Kae snickered. "Well maybe this is a good opportunity to make him," she pointed out. "Because doubtless he'll come out here to see for himself and then we can park him on the beach and make him stay." |
"Good luck with that." Clint snickered.
|
"Hey, we can always put you in a bikini and throw you out there to give him a good view," Kae teased with a wicked grin.
|
Clint's smirk vanished.
"You wouldn't." "Oh but we would," Elaine said, grinning as well. |
"I think you'd look great in a bikini," Tony said with a shit-eating grin. "Lounging on the beach for a day sounds like a good idea anyway." And mentally he made a note to stop and get swim suits for them.
|
Elaine was thinking along the same lines.
"We'll stop at a Target or something on the way back," she said. "Nothing expensive, it just has to last the next couple weeks. But bathing suits are a good idea, considering we're in Malibu." |
Kae nodded. "Yeah, and it shouldn't take too long." She shot Tony a look. Tony just grinned and held up her hands before stealing a fry from Clint.
|
Clint smacked Tony's hand away, although the smirk from before was back.
"Go get your own." |
"I had your own, I ate them," Tony said with a grin. "Besides, yours are tastier." She waggled her eyebrows at Clint.
|
Clint rolled her eyes.
"Honestly, Stark..." "Girls," Elaine said. "Honestly, both of you. Flirt when we get back. For now we need to get those bathing suits." |
Tony pouted but nodded after a moment, getting up and slinging an arm around Kae.
"So, we should get matching suits. In red and gold." "How about no." "Bet Brucie would like it." "Tony, you are so weird." Kae rolled her eyes though she was smiling indulgently, taking a few bags and leading the way to the nearest Target. |
Elaine rolled her eyes.
"Tony, you underestimate the power of the Avengers fanbase," she said. "There are probably Iron Man swim suits out there, and you probably won't have to look that hard." |
