"Your un-doing?" Tony asked as he walked past her. "Go un-magic Rogers so you can comfort him tonight," he called back, grinning, heading back to his room to change.
Damn. He'd been looking forward to using that Iron Man bikini for a few more days. At least he still had one for Kae. |
"I'm still waiting on something to come in the mail," Elaine retorted, blushing a bit. She did, however, go back to where Steve was. "I figured out what I did, and I think I should try and do it again."
Steve nodded. "Sounds like a good idea," she agreed. "Well, feel free to try again, I'm not going anywhere."
Elaine nodded and dove back into the spell, trying to unravel more of it. It was surprisingly delicate work, and she picked at it carefully. Finally, just as the beginnings of a migraine were forming, another section of the spell frayed and unraveled.
The startled yell from Clint announced her success, and Steve smiled a little.
"Sounds like you're doing well," she commented. |
"Thanks," Elaine said. She grimaced as the pounding in her head got worse. "I think I'm going to head to bed early... I gave myself a migraine."
Steve nodded. "Go rest," she said quietly. "I'll make sure the others don't bother you."
"Thanks," Elaine said softly. Turning off her implants (because gods almighty the light felt like it was stabbing her brain), she made her way to an empty guest room and crawled into bed.
As soon as Clint realized what had happened, he didn't waste any time in running off to go put on his real clothes again. |
Steve settled in the living room to keep an eye on everyone else. Kae helped keep them distracted, floating Clint around the living room again once he was back in normal clothes.
"So... what?" Clint said finally, not even caring at the moment that Kae was floating him around. "Is it just wearing off on its own or what?"
"Yes and no," Steve answered, watching Clint. "It will wear off on its own in time, but Elaine was messing with it earlier, so she undid the spell for you and Tony."
"Well, I'm not complaining," Clint said as he kicked back with his hands behind his head. He did, though, glance at Natasha to see how s/he was faring so far.
Natasha was okay. So far. At the moment, mostly amused at Clint. S/He raised an eyebrow faintly at Clint.
Clint just shrugged and relaxed a bit. Things were slowly getting back to normal. Sort of.
Kae snickered at how relaxed he was and slowly worked on building a solid-feeling mental wall under him, even as Natasha watched with banked curiosity.
Clint blinked when the air under him seemed to become solid, and he reached down to tentatively poke at it. He couldn't see any change, which freaked him out a bit, but he could feel it.
Kae grinned. Ha! It worked! And then a headache started behind her eyes, and she grimaced and set Clint down on the couch.
Bruce noticed her expression.
"Are you alright?" s/he asked quietly, concerned. |
"Yeah, just a headache," Kae said, waving off his concern. "I'll be fine in a few minutes." Hopefully, anyway.
"Maybe you should stop for the night," Bruce suggested. "You've been practicing for a while."
"Yeah, maybe," Kae agreed after a few moments, though she was reluctant. She'd just gotten the hang of making invisible walls, she waned to practice more so she wouldn't forget how. She couldn't help but pout a bit.
After a moment's slight hesitation, Bruce held out one hand.
"Come and sit," s/he invited. "Just relax." |
Kae hesitated for a moment before she nodded and settled in next to Bruce, although not as close as normal. She figured Bruce wouldn't be comfortable with that at the moment.
This time, Bruce didn't even hesitate long enough for it to count; s/he just reached over and pulled Kae a bit closer.
"We can still help one another," s/he pointed out. "You need to relax, and the Other guy likes it when you're close. He's quieter." |
Kae couldn't help but grin at that. "Told you he likes me," she said, rather smug, settling in where Bruce had left her.
