Curious, Bruce took the pad and read it.
"They want you to join the X-Men?" he asked, glancing at her. |
"That's what it sounds like." Kae looked at him. "Or working at the school, at least."
"Professor Xavier mentioned visiting the school," Bruce said, skimming the email again. "It might not be a bad idea, just to see what's going on."
Kae nodded. "Might as well go take a look," she agreed. "He hasn't asked me to go since I said I preferred to stay and do my training here."
"If you want to, I can't see any reason not to visit," Bruce said, nodding. "It might be interesting."
Kae nodded. "Yeah, we might as well go take a look. Well, I should, I mean." She paused. "I guess we should tell Tony."
Bruce nodded.
"I think he's in his lab," he said. |
Kae nodded and got up. "You coming?" she asked, raising her eyebrows at him and taking the tablet with her.
Bruce nodded and got up to follow her. If nothing else, he wanted to see what Tony would say about Kae going to visit Xavier's school.
Kae nodded and headed down to Tony's lab to talk to him.
"Tony? Take a look at this." She handed over the tablet. Tony looked at it before his eyes narrowed. "Sorry, no, you're my cousin first, you can't go join the X-Men." |
"It couldn't hurt just to visit," Bruce pointed out. "Just for her to see what's going on."
"Visit, yes. Stay, no." Tony looked at her. "If you want to go visit, we three can go."
"All three of us?" Kae blinked. "Sure. Bruce is coming too, aren't you Brucie?" |
"I, uh, was going to stay here and keep an eye on things in the lab," Bruce protested. He looked at the two. "I don't have a choice, do I?"
"Nope." Tony grinned briefly. "If you want to go, we may as well leave tomorrow. I'll tell Xavier."
Kae nodded and glanced back at Bruce. Hey, at least Tony wasn't being too crazy about it. |
Bruce shrugged. He had no real objection to going; the Hulk was typically pretty calm if Kae was there, and he was fairly sure Xavier could shut the Hulk down if he had to, anyways.
Kae nodded and grabbed Bruce's hand, going to go pack things up. Not that she really needed to go pack right then, but she wanted some time with Bruce.
Bruce followed without protest. He figured he had a pretty good idea of what was going through Kae's head at the moment, and if she wanted him to follow, he would.
Kae ended up cuddling in next to Bruce, carding her fingers through his hair.
"I don't know what I'm supposed to do," she admitted quietly. |
Bruce let her cuddle, wrapping an arm around her.
"I can't tell you what you're supposed to do," he said. "I know it sounds kind of cheesy, but still. What I can tell you is don't listen to Tony." |
Kae sighed. "You know he's going to be pissed if I decide I want to spend more than a few days there," she pointed out.
"I know," Bruce said. "He won't honestly be upset, though. I think it'll be more of a temper tantrum. He'll be fine."
Kae sighed. "Maybe I can split my time," she said after a few moments. "Go to the school a few days a week to help out." She wasn't sure what she was going to do about the offer to be part of the X-Men, though.
"Maybe you should just visit, first," Bruce suggested. "See what there is to see. Don't worry so much about how to accept right away." He grinned a bit. "People have told Charles 'no' in the past."
"It's not him I'm worried about," Kae said, though she grinned. "You're probably one of them. And I did tell him 'no' in regards to going to his school to learn."
Bruce pulled Kae into his lap and held her.
"Then I suggest you use the same tactic in dealing with both Tony and Charles," he said. "Don't worry about pleasing them, just do what you think is best for you." |
