Bruce changed quietly and went over to the bed, settling in behind her and pulling her close. He did his best not to wake her.
Kae did wake up a bit, although mostly just to cuddle back closer to him. They could talk in the morning, after all.
Bruce smiled slightly and gently pulled her closer. Hesitantly, he let one of his hands brush against her stomach as he held her. He didn't do more than that, though, and he drifted off to sleep himself.
Kae woke up first in the morning, though she didn't try to get up just yet. She just shifted so she could look at Bruce, relaxing next to him.
Bruce woke up a little after Kae did, and pulled her against him.
"What time did you come in?" Kae asked quietly, curling closer to him.
"Late," Bruce replied softly, holding her. "Or I suppose it would more properly have been referred to as 'early'."
Kae snorted quietly. "Tony was probably thrilled," she said quietly. "Must be doing some serious Science down there."
"Tony was distracted with his projects," Bruce said, nodding a bit. "He's working on a few new things. But that's okay, it gave me time to think."
"And?" Tina was almost scared to ask. But she did, looking at him cautiously.
Bruce was quiet for a moment.
"I'll support whatever decision you make," he said softly. "But if you decide to keep it, I want to monitor you both. We have no idea what this could do to you, and I want to make sure nothing goes wrong." |
"Yeah, I kind of figured." Kae smiled a bit. "I've been thinking about looking up a doctor, and I know Tony's going to want to keep his own records and everything. I'm going to be in the lab every other day, aren't I?"
"Pretty much," Bruce said, nodding. "Talk to Tony about finding a doctor, he has the best ones in the country on speed-dial, I think. He pulled her closer. "So I guess you've already decided to keep the baby, then."
"I'm not entirely sure," Kae admitted. "I mean, mostly sure, but not entirely. I was mostly waiting on your decision."
"Well, you have my decision now," Bruce pointed out.
"Yeah." Kae was quiet for a few moments. "Guess I'll be talking to Tony about it, then. You realize he's going to flip?"
"I could tell him, if you want," Bruce offered. "He might be less likely to work himself into a frenzy that way."
"I'll at least go with you," Kae said, stretching out briefly. "I'm going to have to get the numbers from him. Or Jarvis."
"I can get the information," Bruce pointed out. "I would have thought you would want to take some time to get used to everything."
"I kind of have been." Kae shrugged. "It's been a few days already, and I doubt I'll be really used to the idea for a few weeks, and I know you're not going to want to wait that long to start gathering information and data and all that." She smiled a bit. "Besides, Tony will be more hurt if we keep it from him."
"You've known that long already?" Bruce asked. He was quiet for a minute. "I guess I really wasn't paying attention, huh?"
"You've been busy, and I was still trying to figure out how to tell you." Kae shrugged. "It doesn't really matter."
"I should have noticed something before now, though," Bruce pointed out. "I should have paid more attention to you."
"Bruce. It's fine." Kae put a finger over his lips. "You've been busy. Stop blaming yourself or I'll have to distract you."
Bruce raised an eyebrow.
"Is that even a good idea right now?" he asked. |
