"Probably. I mean, I have it, and according to Bruce he sort of counts. So the little one will probably have the X-gene. Or something else."
Elaine grinned.
"That'll make things more interesting," she said, teasing her friend a bit. |
"No kidding." Kae smiled a bit. "Oh well. Things could never be boring around here or Tony would start doing Things and these Things would probably be Bad."
Elaine laughed.
"No kidding," she said, grinning. "Gods, I could even hear those capitals in there." |
"Yup, that was the whole point." Kae grinned.
"How much you want to bet Tony will be the first one to try to hold the little one after me?" |
"He can try," Elaine said. "He'll probably have to get through Bruce and the Hulk to do it."
Kae snorted. "Yeah but I bet you he'll try." Because she knew her cousin very well.
"He would," Elaine agreed. She was quiet for a moment. "Steve would make a good dad."
"He would make a fantastic dad." Kae smiled. "Maybe one day, hmm?"
"Maybe," Elaine said. She flushed slightly. "I've been... thinking about it, on and off."
Kae grinned and nodded. "Well, keep thinking about it, I think it's something you'd both enjoy. Just try to be a little more prepared than I was."
"We'll see," Elaine said. She couldn't help but consider it, though. She knew Steve would be a good father, and she knew he wanted kids at some point. She just didn't know when he would decide he wanted them.
"Well, I'm going to go get a cup of tea and sit on the couch before someone comes to find me." Kae grimaced.
"Go sit down," Elaine said. "I'll bring you some tea. I know how you like it." She paused. "Unless you want it different this time."
"No, the normal way is fine," Kae said, walking over to the living room and sitting down on the couch.
Elaine nodded and made some tea, although she made enough for herself as well. Once it was done, she took a mug out to Kae, and then sat down next to her friend with her own tea.
"There," she said. "Fresh-brewed tea." |
"Thanks." Kae relaxed there with her tea, balancing it on her belly. "Comes in handy for a few things," she joked, grinning briefly at Elaine.
Elaine grinned as well.
"I wouldn't know," she said. "If I ever have kids, I'll let you know if I agree." |
Kae snickered and relaxed since there were no hovering males for the moment.
At least until Tony came up to get more coffee and decided to fuss over Kae for a bit. |
Elaine noticed the fussing and sighed.
"Tony, leave her be," she said. |
"I'm just making sure she's comfortable," Tony said stubbornly, pulling a blanket over to Kae.
"Tony. I'm fine. Back off." "I'd make more tea but I don't even make my own coffee." Tony frowned at her empty cup. "Jarvis, remind me later to make a tea brewer thing." "Of course, sir." Even Jarvis sounded amused. |
"Actually," Elaine piped up, "I was pondering a new vision filter upgrade." She looked at Tony, partly to see if he would take the bait and partly to see if he was even interested. "You can't make tea properly from a machine, anyways. It tastes better if it's hand-brewed."
Tony had stopped paying attention after she said she was thinking of an upgrade.
"What upgrade could you possibly think of that I haven't given you yet?" He looked at her, incredulous. |
"Well, I was wondering if it was possible to be able to see magic," Elaine said. "Of course, it would require you to actually come into contact with magic, so if you don't want to..." She trailed off, although she was pretty sure he'd take the bait.
Tony made a face. "You want to defile my perfect technology with the ability to see magic?" he grumbled, although he was already working out how exactly he might maybe be able to make that work.
