"They were bound to end up together," Cupid pointed out, sounding bored. "We just gave them a nudge in the right direction."

"In what way is that a victory?" Thor asked. "A victory only has meaning when it is fought for." He was slowly straying from the situation at hand, but how could he be blamed? He was intrigued by these Romans and what they did.

"Bah. Your definition is different than ours. To us, a victory is seeing a couple that was meant to be together, as these two. We do not fight battles as you do." Venus waved his comments away. Because clearly they meant nothing to her.

"Then how is it you measure such things?" Thor asked. He tilted his head towards Steve. "How are they 'meant to be together'?" It was as foreign a concept to him as there ever was.

"You can't see it," Venus said contemptuously. "It's a sort of... glow to us. We can just tell."

"I would watch your tone, were I you," Thor warned even as he glanced back at Steve again. He wasn't sure he liked any other gods taking a hand in his friends' lives.

Venus rolled her eyes. "Really? You wouldn't start a war over my tone."

"Wars have been fought over less," Thor replied, although he made no move to enforce his words. She was right, for the moment; but that didn't mean it would be forever.

Venus rolled her eyes. "Well, then, we'll leave this city alone. We were done for the day anyway." She jerked her head at Cupid for them to go.

For now, Thor let them go. He'd gotten as much information from them as he could for the moment, and he doubted it would be difficult to find them again later if he needed to.

Venus and Cupid stalked off to go find other people to pester.

Tony, meanwhile, was getting impatient and started over towards where Thor was.

Once Venus and Cupid were gone, Thor glanced around and spotted Tony making his way over. He went to meet his friend half-way.

"What did you learn?" Tony asked without any preamble. He knew Steve was still fine, and they could get to the details of what happened later.

"They seemed to choose their targets specifically," Thor replied. "They claimed to be able to sense when a pair of humans was 'meant to be together.' They did not take any of my warnings seriously, however, which is not completely surprising to me."

Tony nodded. He'd kind of expected that, too. "Alright. Anything else? Are they still around?"

"For the moment, no," Thor replied. "Although they admitted to targeting Steve and his lady."

Tony sighed and rubbed a hand across his forehead. He had the feeling this wasn't over just yet.

"Alright. I guess we can tell Steve he can take Elaine home."

Thor nodded.

"I will continue to pay attention for now," he said. "I'm sure Venus and Cupid are not done yet."

Tony nodded. "Alright. You do that. I'll tell those two to head home. Let me know if you find out anything interesting. And not to do with alcohol this time, Thor."

Thor just shrugged a bit. Tony was too modern, he had no idea how crucial it could be for men to bond over mead. And besides, he wouldn't get into a drinking contest with Bacchus again... At least while there were other things to focus on.

Tony just headed over to Steve and Elaine.

"Thor found them," he said without preamble. "They're gone, for the moment. So you're both free to go."

"Good to know." Steve looked at Elaine. "Shall I drive you home now or did you wish to do something else?"

Elaine nibbled the inside of her lip for a moment. She didn't want to leave Steve yet, not by a long shot, but she knew she couldn't trust her own feelings at the moment.

"Home," she said finally. "Home would be best right now." It would give her a chance to try to get her head on right and sort things out before having to deal with anything else.

"Alright." Steve got up. "I'll take you back home, then." He took her hand almost without thinking about it to escort her back to the car safely.

Elaine jumped slightly when he took her hand, and she felt her face heat up a bit. Oh yes, now she could tell she'd been whammied. She was blushing worse than a middleschooler.

Steve noticed but he decided not to comment, writing it off as a reaction to the shot. These weren't her emotions, after all, just the emotions the arrow made her feel.
