Steve looked around briefly before nodding to Thor. "Everything's going well?" he asked Thor, since he was well aware of what was going on between the two.
Kae ignored the two males for a minute to go hug Elaine. "So, what brought you back? Besides Steve, that is." |
Thor nodded, both in greeting and in answer.
"All has been as it should be," he replied. "We're going to see if we can bully Cupid into submission," Elaine said, returning the hug. "And it's Tony's fault, by the way. That's why he called in the first place, to pin down the location of my phone, so he could send Steve out." |
"Good." Steve glanced back at the girls. "Do you know where your brother is? We need to talk to both of you."
Kae snickered. "Somehow I'm not surprised. Sounds like something my idiot cousin would pull." |
"Loki?" Thor said. "He is nearby. Perhaps amusing himself observing humans. Why? What is the matter?"
"I heard that's not the only stupid thing he did while I was gone," Elaine said. |
Kae bit her lip to stifle a giggle. "I'll tell you later," she promised with a grin.
"We were going to try to contact Cupid again, but we're not sure how." Steve shrugged, looking faintly uncomfortable. |
"I'll hold you to it," Elaine said. She grinned. "Steve didn't have any details about it."
Thor considered that for a moment. "I cannot claim to know how the Romans operate," he replied. "They cannot be too much different than myself and my brother, however." |
Kae just grinned and nodded. She was definitely going to share details later.
"But you know how a human might call you or Loki?" Steve pressed. If Thor knew, they wouldn't have to try to get the answer out of Loki, which just made Steve very happy. |
"I can only give you my understanding of it," Thor warned. "I do not know what humans do to attract our attention, only that they usually manage to achieve it quickly." He shook his head. "Truly, I am not the best one to ask."
Steve sighed. Well, it had been worth a try. "Alright. I guess we need to ask your brother, then."
"Loki is not far from here," Thor said. "It will not be difficult in the least for me to retrieve him."
Steve nodded. "Alright. We'll wait here, unless you think it would be better for us to go with you?" He raised an eyebrow at the Asgardian, leaving the decision up to him.
Thor shrugged a bit.
"It matters not," he replied. |
Steve glanced at the girls before he decided. "We'll wait here, then. Thanks, Thor." He smiled faintly at his teammate.
"It is my pleasure to help a friend," Thor replied as he got up and headed for the door. Time to find his brother.
Loki was currently hanging out in Central Park watching one of the statues snarl and scare people away. It was kind of funny, really, and no humans had been hurt so his brother didn't have an excuse to try anything. Overall, it was a good day.
"Brother!" Thor said as he found Loki. He paused for a moment when he noticed the statue and had the smother a bit of a snort. No, he couldn't fault Loki for this one, it was rather funny. Then he turned back to his brother. "Your presence is requested, brother."
"Requested?" Loki's eyebrows shot up. "By whom?" But he got up all the same, since he figured he might get bonus points for good behavior so he could go back home sooner.
"Friend Steve had a few inquiries," Thor explained. "I thought you might be able to answer better than I."
Loki raised an eyebrow. "Something you can't answer? I find I'm rather intrigued. Very well, what is it you want to know?"
"Come back with me and you will find out," Thor replied. He grinned a bit. "And it will allow the humans here a reprieve from your boredom."
Loki made a face. "Even you have to admit I'm not harming anyone," he protested, even as he got to his feet. He knew Thor better than anyone, and he knew that if he didn't get up on his own, Thor would drag him back. And he'd rather be spared that indignity.
"I know," Thor replied as Loki got up. "You are simply making mischief, as you always have. There is nothing out of the ordinary about that." He chuckled a bit. "And there are far worse things than animating a statue."
Loki preened a little at this, hoping Odin was paying attention. See, he could behave! Sometimes. When he wanted to.
"So what is it the mortals are asking of me?" Loki raised an eyebrow as he started to walk back with Thor, the statue going still again. |
"Friend Steve is hoping to initiate contact with the Romans," Thor replied as they walked. "But I was unable to tell him how to do so. I thought perhaps you would know more."
"Ah." Loki was quiet for a few moments. "Why do they want to contact the Romans? They're not much fun. But for maybe two or three, I'd be happier without them around. Bunch of spoilsports."
