Tony started laughing harder. "Cap, you know you've got no plans," he needled.

"Tony," Steve grumbled. Then he sighed. "I don't have plans. If... if you want me to go, I'll gladly go."

"Only if you want to, Steve," Elaine said. "I come from a big family. I call them the Clan, after all. If you don't want to, I won't make you go."

Steve smiled a little. "If they're all like your uncle, I don't mind." He shifted a bit, shifting closer to her. "It could be fun."

"My grandfather will be the worst of the bunch, I guarantee it," Elaine said with a bit of a grin, leaning against him a little. "My dad and my uncle Mitch are about on par with BJ."

Steve chuckled. "Alright. I think I can handle that, then." He couldn't help but smile. "If you're sure they won't mind..."

"I'll call and warn them ahead of time," Elaine promised. "I'm sure they won't mind." She grinned. "We can offer to help my grandmother with the cooking, since a meal for thirty may not quite be enough for twenty-six and Captain America," she teased.

Steve blushed. "Um. Yeah, sure," he offered, still red. And doing his best to ignore Kae and Tony laughing at him.

Elaine grinned and just rested her head on his shoulder.

"Both of you shut up," she said sweetly to Kae and Tony.

Tony and Kae kept snickering, at least until Tony got up and tossed a beer to Kae.

"Hey, since you're not going with here, want to do Thanksgiving here?" Tony offered.

"Um. I guess."

"Awesome. You in?" Tony looked at Bruce and Thor.

Thor grinned, clearly delighted to be invited to take part in a Midgard tradition.

"Of course, Friend Tony!"

Bruce, on the other hand, seemed a little skeptical.

"You sure?" he asked Tony.

"Yes I'm sure. Why wouldn't I be?" Tony gave him a look. "You too, Featherhead. And Natasha."

Clint scowled at Tony before he shrugged, looking at Natasha. "Might be fun. We may as well stick around. It'll give us chances to tease you, anyway."

Natasha just rolled her eyes and shrugged. May as well.

"And my brother, as well," Thor added, looking at them all. It wasn't quite a firm statement; more along the lines of a cautious suggestion. He knew how everyone felt about Loki. "You know he must stay close."

Tony glowered briefly, but Kae cut him off.

"Of course," she said quietly, though she didn't look at Thor. "We can plan later, Tony. I think I want to go shower and then go to bed."

Tony eyed her worriedly, glancing at Bruce with a little frown.

Bruce also frowned for a moment, but nodded.

"You should get some rest," he agreed. "It'll be good after what happened."

Kae shivered briefly before stiffening and nodding. "Night, all," she said, heading for the elevator and heading down to the suite that she and Elaine were sharing.

Steve watched her go with a little frown, though he didn't say anything, pulling Elaine closer to him.

Elaine was quiet for a moment. Kae hadn't sounded all that good. Gently, she pushed out of Steve's arms and stood up.

"I'm going, as well," she said.

"Alright. Night, Elaine." Steve let her go, frowning a little. Neither girl sounded very well at all, and he exchanged an uneasy look with Tony and Bruce.

Elaine knew why Kae sounded rough. It didn't take a genius to figure it out. But she didn't push; instead, she gave Kae the quiet and space they both needed.

As it turned out, Elaine wasn't immune from nightmares. It was only a few hours later that she woke up in a cold sweat, heart pounding, and no desire at all to try for more sleep. Falling to her death once was more than enough for one night. Getting her cane out of her bag, she got up and headed for the main part of the tower.

Steve was awake again as well, currently in the gym punching the crap out of some poor innocent reinforced punching bag that Tony brought in for him. He was already sweating lightly, having been there for almost half an hour.

No one could say Captain America didn't have his demons.

Elaine heard the sounds coming from the gym and followed them. She almost fell down a flight of stairs, but that was what her cane was for. Quietly and carefully, she made her way down to level floor again before she kept going. Eventually, she found the gym, and the man in it.

"Can't sleep either?" she asked quietly. She wasn't sure who exactly it was in the gym, but she could make some fair guesses.

Steve jerked when he heard her, spinning around to face her. After a moment he relaxed.

"Yeah. You okay?" Steve frowned a little, moving over to her. "It's kind of late. Or really early. One of the two."

"I'm not sure what time it is," Elaine said. "I couldn't sleep either."

Steve nodded, walking over to her. "Well, I guess it could be worse. It's been four hours since you and Kae left." He was quiet for a few moments, glancing around the gym. "Do you want me to bring a chair down for you?"

"Doesn't feel like four hours," Elaine muttered. She sighed slightly, but shook her head. "I can sit on the floor just as easily, no sense in hauling a chair down here."

"Alright," Steve said after a moment. He glanced around the gym again before he shrugged and lowered himself to sit on the floor, deciding to take a break. "So what brings you down here at this hour?"
