He was a peasant, she was a princess. They were worlds apart, but one encounter in the woods made everything change for the both of them, for better or for worse is unknown, but shall be revealed in time.

Alec loved this part of the wood, it was open, yet, it felt as though it was enclosed with no way out, he loved it, the trees rising above him, towering over him with a sky of green and emerald. Sunlight dappled thorough only providing a dim level of light, but enough to see. Alec was laying at the base of a tree on a hazy summer afternoon, it was the first day of the Summer Festival that his village held each year, it was one of two, one in the summer and one in the winter. He didn't really like the festivals, it was too loud, too much going on, it gave him a head ache each time a festival started, he always came to this part of the wood. He was surprised that no one had followed him, it was like a bi-annual routine that he did. The sound of fireworks could be heard in the distance, indicating that the festival had officially begun. "Eugh, allow the hysterics to begin." He huffed loudly and closed his eyes. It was the royal family that provided all the fancy things for the festival, things such as fireworks, some fancy food that the rich people ate all the time and other things that Alec didn't care for. He didn't want to get involved with any of it.

Alec slowly woke up at the base of the tree, had he's fallen asleep. He must have, he didn't like falling asleep out side but it was so relaxing, he just sat in the under growth lying in the sun, hearing the occasional firework go off in the background, it was soothing being the only person in the area not having a care in the world, he could hear a birdsong every now and then. His eye's slowly started to close again when he heard a crack behind him. He shot up-right, still lying against the tree, had someone found him? No that's not possible, he was sure that no-one had followed him out here, even if they did they did there was no way that they would have found him, unless you knew how to navigate your way round you could easily get lost here. He heard another crack behind him, it was closer this time, he didn't want to take any chances with this, he slowly rose to his feet his back still pressed against the tree, he brushed some blonde strands out of his face and left the tree walking deeper into the forest in the hope of leaving the intruder of his peace behind.

He slowly picked up the pace, making his way further and further into the forest. "I didn't know it was this big, I wonder how big this place actually is?" He stopped to check behind him and see it the unknown person had followed. From where he was he couldn't see anything. Alec gave a sigh of relief that he had lost the pursuer. He took a step forward unaware that he was in fact on the edge of a slight drop. He foot hit thin air and continued on it's journey down, he had stepped with such force that he fell of the edge of the mound and slid down the side. "Ahhh... crap, crap, crap..." He shouted all the way down until he reached the end with a large splash. He ended up sliding all the way into a stream and getting soaking wet. "Oh just brilliant, fucking brilliant." He stood up and didn't realise how cold he actually was. He stepped out of the stream and on to dry land, his boots filled with water, his trousers soaked through and his shirt considerably damp. "Now what am I going to do?" He looked around the area to look for a low hanging branch, he spotted one nearby, it was a little weedy but it would have to do, he walked over to it hugging himself to preserve what warmth he had left and undressed himself to hang the clothes to dry. The branch sagged under the weight of the wet clothes that were now hanging from it. He felt a bit awkward standing in nothing but his underwear, but he'd lost the other person so the chance of finding him was slim, but even still the feeling was uncomfortable.

Alec heard a splash nearby. "Okay seriously. This is just starting to get ridiculous. Can't people just leave me be?" He tried to cover himself as much as possible but it was a pathetic attempt in short but he didn't care, it gave his self esteem a bit of a boost. He had a little look around and saw that the royal guard was nearby. "Shit, what are they doing here? I haven't done anything... yet..." Alec had gotten in trouble with the royal guard for a variety or reasons: trespass, pulling pranks on the guard using the horses themselves, and just petty little things that Alec did for kicks, but he didn't remember doing anything that would cause them to come looking here of all places. He saw them leave and gave a sigh of relief but he wondered what caused the splash earlier on.

He walked over to the edge of the lake and had a look around he couldn't see anything from where he was so he slowly stepped into the water, grimacing at the sudden sharp cold that hit his feet. "Ohh my, that's cold. very, very, cold." He tensed at the coldness of the water. It was an unpleasant feeling but he tried to endure it as best he could. He stepped in until the water was at about half way up his calf's. He then had a look further into the lake and under to see if the unknown person hadn't pasted out. He kept scanning the water back and forth until he noticed a pair of green eyes looking at him from the middle of the lake. "AHHH!" The sudden sight of the person looking at him in the water gave him such as shock that he fell in to the water backwards so that now even his underwear was soaking wet along with the rest of him. "Brilliant.." He remembered about the person in the lake and blushed slightly at the fact that they were looking at him practically naked, he may not have looked naked but he certainly felt it.

Alec felt so embarrassed only to be even more embarrassed at the fact it was a girl none the less that was looking at him, he hadn't been this exposed in front of a woman before, except his mother, but that was different this was a stranger looking at him now. He stood up and moved his had across his crotch, he didn't want her looking at it, not that he had anything to hide but it just made him feel strange. "I'm practically naked for the same reason as you, I fell in the water. But I've fallen in again and I'm not taking these off. It's going to be so uncomfortable." He shifted around slightly the wet fabric scratchy against his skin. "Wait, you stole something? In front of the royal guard? What are you an idiot? I mean I've done some things to the royal guard, but uhhh that takes the cake." All Alec could do is stand awkwardly in front of the girl in the ragged dress his eye's glancing up and down her. She looked familiar, her skin was soft and smooth, and looked like it had some powder on it as it's complexion and colour looked a bit odd. "No, she can't be. She wouldn't even think about doing something like that. No i must be just someone that looks a lot like her, yeah that makes sense"

Even her name was similar, but wiped the thought with an amazing smile, her teeth were a bright pearly white, they looked perfect, Alec didn't have perfect teeth, they were all there and straight, but they weren't as white as hers. "I'm Alec." He said quickly sticking his hand out then bringing it back before she had a chance to react to cover him self. He quickly stepped out the water and on to dry land, shook his legs and wiped his feet on the floor. "You didn't disturb me, by the way, it's just coincidence that we just happened to fall into the same lake..." his voice trailed off as he thought about what he said. "She looks so familiar! But she wouldn't do anything remotely like this, she never leaves the castle grounds. Ahh this is doing my head in." He quickly moved over to where his clothes were hanging from the tree branch and checked so see if they were dryer, much to his disappoint they were still considerably wet. He took his trousers from the branch and ringing the water out of them. He didn't realise how much water was in his clothes and made a small puddle of mud by his feet. "Urgh.." He stepped back a bit and continued to ring out his clothes. "It shouldn't be hard to find your way back to the village, once my clothes are dryer I'm going to head back so you can just follow me."

Alec almost choked at her comment about her temporary living arrangements. "Wait, what! You're going to live out here. In the woods. For three days? I'm not going to lie but you look like you can only handle a needle..." He grabbed his trousers and flapped them in the cool air just to dry them out a little further, they were damp but they would have to do, he slipped on the trousers with a little difficulty as the wet fabric kept sticking to his legs. "Stupid bloody things..." He blushed heavily at the girls comment of him being called handsome. It was the first time that a stranger had said it to him, he knew that he was more fortunate then most other members of the village and his muscles probably helped as well. But that was down to his father, when he worked with him if Alec couldn't move something his dad would build him up enough to move it, as the years went on he could lift heavier and heavier things. He knew that he was bigger then most guys in the village, after lots of wrestling and fighting he found his place and was comfortable with it, he wasn't on top but he still up there.

His face felt warm, very warm, he walked back over to the lake and splashed some water on his face to cool himself of. "What does she think she's playing at? Does she want some thing from me?" He looked over his shoulder and the girl was still looking at him, she flashed a smile again and stroked her hair. "I'm not at the festival, because I hate them. Every time it's the same thing over and over again. Uhh It's so boring... and those rich pricks think that by doing this everything is all okay, well if they came out of their castle occasionally and actually had a look they'd see what's going on." He walked back to his drying clothes and pulled them off the tree. He didn't put his shirt on as it would scratch at his skin, and he wanted to give the girl a bit of a show too. He tied it around his waist and held his boots in his hand. "and also that rich bitch that's gunna succeed her father, she doesn't do anything, yet she seems like the person that's gunna change stuff, ya know?" Alec gave a deep sigh. "Every guy in the village want's to go after her, me included but she just doesn't appear anywhere, she just shows up during the festivals. I bet you she's there right now having everyone oogle over her." He walked back over to the lake side to throw his head under the water to refresh himself before he headed back. "Listen do you wanna come back with me because let's be honest, your not going to last three days here."

Alec looked a little dumbfounded at her response, Of course he wanted the princess, who didn't? She was beautiful, caring, talented as far as people knew and most importantly she had money. "Why do you keep calling me Wonderboy? What's so wonderful about me?" He picked his boots up and held them under his arm. Looking out across the lake thinking on how to get back. "Hmm I think that I we walk around there, and then up that small hill we should be able to get our bearings and be able to get back. If I'm right it should take about half an hour to get there." He set off around the edge of the lake with the girl behind him his feet burying themselves into the dirt with each step, the ground was soft and spongy, he would occasionally step on a twig or stone, causing a slight shock of pain, but he covered it so not to seem weak in front of the girl. It was unsettling walking in the silence so he tried to make idle conversation. "You said your name was Aura right? It sounds kinda similar to the princess's name, Aurora. You know the more I think about it, you do look so much like her! But like my mother said, there is some one in the world who looks similar to you. Turned out to be true." They continued around the edge of the Lake, the reflection almost like a mirror showing the emerald sky that was above them.

Alec blushed at the comment, he rubbed his his arm and chuckkled slightly. "Well, it took a while to get like this, it didn't happen over night you know! and helping you is the least I could do, I mean I wasn't just going to leave you there. That would be cruel." They continued to walk around the edge of the lake until they hit a wide stream. "Hmm?" Alec looked at how wide it was and judged how deep it could be. He thought that it would be okay and he proceeded to throw his boots over to the other side of the river. They landed with a soft thud on the other side and he turned to Aura. "Urm... sorry about this but I'm going to have to carry you across.." He put his hand on the back of his head and started to rub while chuckling slightly. She gave a slight 'uh huh' and Alec was quite surprised by this he thought that she would have said no to this, he went and then rolled up his trouser legs so they became more like shorts. He walked over to Arua and picked her up with little difficulty. She wrapped her arms around his neck and he went to walk across the river. The was water was cold. Ice cold, but he endured it and put on a brave face for Aura.

They soon reached dry land and he put Aura back on her feet. "There we go." He looked around to find his boots and saw them lying in the grass. He picked them back up and carried on to the hill with Aura close behind. "I'm a carpenter." He said in the silence. "I've done it since, well forever, my father taught me how to carve when I was young and when he saw what I could do he made me work with him." They both walked in the afternoon light, the heat, giving a relaxing warmth to the wood, the occasional bird sung a song breaking the silence inside. "What do you do for a living?"

Alec was taken aback by Aura's shock at the sound of the bells and then grabbing his hand. "It's just the bells... There's nothing wrong with two people walking in the woods, but if you wanna go a different way then I don't see the trouble in it." Alex felt a little suspicious at why she was so scared, the only rang for an emergency but knowing the royals someone threw a tomato or somthing and it landed a bit too close. He led Aura down the hill and heading to the side of the town a little out of sight from anyone looking in. It would take about five more minuets to get back home much to Alec's irritation. He just wanted to get out of his wet clothes but he would have to endure it a bit more. The wind slowly picked up and the noise could be heard in the tree tops the, the hushing noise louder then before, in gaps in the trees gray clouds could be seen floating over."It's going to rain by the looks of it... We're going to have to pick up the pace soon, it looks like it going to rain." He said loudly over the wind.

They soon reached the edge of the wood, the trees thinned out the vegetation become more sparce and the sound of the bells more pronounced. The ground became firmer and dryer as they approached the edge of some fields. "If we cut through this field here, my house will be just on the other side."

When he agreed to take her another way she nodded. "Thank you, Alec." She said, following after him until they reached a field. She nodded and started through it, barely hearing a voice coming from town announcing something about the Princess. Most likely her disappearance. So she quickly spoke up to block out the noise. "I just don't want any of the guards to see me since they think I stole. I didn't, but you know how guards are." She said, looking over at him. "Sorry I'm keeping you in your wet clothes even longer.." She said, giving a slight frown.

Her dress was soaked but it wasn't as bad as him since he was wearing pants. The blonde started to get excited as they reached the edge of the field. She would actually be staying inside a peasants home! This was such a new thing for her. Usually she was used to fancy living, so hopefully she would adjust nicely to living with Alec for a few days. Then she could sell her jewelry and head to a different town. ((Sorry its short D:))

They continued through the field, it was a lot bigger then Alec remembered, but he hadn't been though it for months so it was likely the owner had bought more land for it. "Oh god the guards, they get on my bloody nerves they do. They just point and shout and what is said is right no matter what." They reached the end and Alec's house was only about 10 meters away. "There it is home sweet home." He jogged over to it in anticipation to get out of his wet clothes and opened the back door to it. He looked behind him and saw Aura walking over. "After you." He allowed Aura in before he went in himself, it was just simple manners. The house was quite basic, the floor was a light cobble stone with mismatched sized stones and at different heights. The walls were bare wood the planks placed on top of one another, there were a couple of pictures that were on the walls, painted by Alec's mother other then a bracelet that he had they were the last things he had to remember her by. There was a fire place at one end of the room and at the other end was a door that led into his bedroom. The fire was burning away but the wood had most been used up, Alec went over to it and grabbed a couple of large pieces of wood and put them on the fire. "Uhh make yourself at home, I guess?" He walked over to the other end of the room towards his bedroom door, "I'm just going to change quickly, I'll only be a minuet." He walked in to his room and closed the door. He immediately took of his trousers and underwear and felt alot more comfortable he undid the shirt around his waist and dumped in on the floor, he walked over to his chest of drawers and pulled out new pairs of underwear and trousers and a new shirt as well, he put them on and felt so much better then he did before, the wet clingy clothes were on the floor in a heap. "Ugh god now I have to deal with you." He picked them up and then looked over at the chest of drawers again,he dropped the clothes again and walked back over, he pulled out another pair of trousers and a shirt and laid them on the bed, they weren't in as good quality as the ones that he was wearing or the ones on the floor but they would have to do. He picked up his clothes and prepared to leave the room. "Ohh god what do I do? I never have people over here, what am I meant to do?!" He left his bedroom and walked over to the fire place in the main part of his house and hung his clothes over the fire to allow them to dry. "I uhh left some clothes out for you on my bed for you to change into, I'm guessing you want to get out of that dress." He chuckled slightly.

Alec looked at Aura and nearly fell over, she was wearing nothing but his shirt! She could have at least put on the trousers too! It wasn't until she mentioned that his trousers were too big that it all made a bit of sense, in comparison to him she was a bit smaller, even though his shirt went down to her knees it was still quite revealing, he looked at her legs, then immediately looked away only for his eyes to wander back, he blushed slighty as he kept looking but he blamed his male instincts on it. He stood abit awkwardly until she asked if he lived alone. "Urm yeah I do as a matter of fact, I swapped houses with someone, when my parents were alive we shared a house with two bedrooms but then when they passed away it was just me, the house was far too big for me, so someone in the town asked me if I wanted to swap to a smaller house because they needed more space so I said yes and here we are today." He became a bit more relaxed and sat down on a bench by the fire, he perched on the edge and stretched out his legs. Why do you ask? Do you love alone? He asked in a way to see if his theroy was right, he started to think that she had an interest in him, he didn't like to brag bit he knew that he was good looking, and had the body to match but she'd only known him for about an hour, he didn't belive in love at first sight, but did she?

Aurora smirked as he stared at her legs. "If its too much of a distraction I can put the trousers on..?" She offered, sitting across from him in a wooden table chair and gave a small nod, looking around. "Well it's very cute. Hopefully I find something as nice as this once I head out of here in a few days." She said, starting to play with her hair so it would dry. At his question she looked up at him. "Oh I only asked because when I first met you I figured you were married.." She said, looking down at her legs. "Well..I've never lived anywhere before other than with my parents. But I just recently left their home so at the moment, Yes, I live alone." She said, looking up at him.

"Sorry I'm asking so many questions. I'm just curious as to why I've never met you." She said, giving a slight yawn. The bell noise had died down and now that it was growing darker she was fairly tired. "Will I be sleeping in here by the fireplace?" She asked, looking over at him. She blushed at how he stared at her.

Alec blushed even more when she noticed that he was looking at her legs. "No it's fine, I don't want you to feel uncomfortable." His voice trailed of slightly at the end, he finally broke his trance and nodded when Aura said that his house was cute, it wouldn't have been the word to describe it but he just nodded in agreement anyway. He still couldn't get his head around her story, she'd only moved here about a week ago, yet she kept saying things in a way that sounded like they had already met before? It completely bewildered him. He coughed a bit when she mentioned that he was married. "M-m-Married!? Are you crazy, i'm still young, I don't wanna get married just yet, give it a few years then yeah sure, but not now!" He quickly became quiet as his voice became slightly aggressive. "Sorry.." he said quietly.

He looked out the window and could see that it was getting dark. His attention returned to Aura when she mentioned about sleeping arrangements. "Oh no, you won't, you can take my bed if you like, it's more comfortable then this bench, I'll be on the bench, i'm tough as nails me!" He grinned at this hoping Aura would see the humor. His stomach suddenly rumbled loudly and he went red instantly. "I'm sorry about that! Would you uhh like something to eat? I feel so rude for not asking earlier."
