Newfound respect for scanlation groups.
I'm currently trying to edit a manga from Japanese to Enligh, and it's harder than I thought. Especially when you have to erase the Japanese text from the panels that don't have the boxes or anything around them!
Since I don't have any after-school activities, I figured I might as well try working in a scanlation group in my free time. So far, so...okay. It's already been a few hours and all I have done so far are two pages. Ahhh, I'm so inexperienced at this. I've used GIMP for about two? Months now, and I am pretty comfortable with it. But sigh. I wonder how long it takes to edit a whole chapter. I've come to Mene for some break time. Haha. By the way, I have no plan whatsoever to legally install Photoshop. It's so expensive! I never even knew it would cost over $200- let alone $100! What is the software made of? Gold? [gonk] Anyway. I should also really get a job soon, so I thought this would be useful to jot down as a past job experience? Or would that really count as volunteer work, though... Because technically, it's considered a hobby. I don't really understand how editing can be fun, but I like to do it to kill time. Would you consider it as volunteering? It might be hard to explain to future job employers exactly what I do since not everyone reads manga. Ehhh... Am I overthinking this? I might be. I should go to bed soon. [sweat] ---------- Post added 08-18-2012 at 11:10 PM ---------- Erm. I'm also wondering if this thread belongs here. I am talking about manga, but not particularly a series...? |
I figure it belongs here, there's nowhere else it goes.
I know what you mean though. I tried just cleaning a page up once. Even with photoshop and a decent knowledge on how to use, it took me ages. As far as I know, it would be quite hard to put down as job experience unless you were going for something in graphic design, where it would probably be quite useful. |
And still after 30 minutes of cleaning, there's still scan dirt @[email protected];;
Hm... I see... So it's just considered a past-time then? Would it fit under special skills, etc? s: |
