Kayo's eyes widen at her words. "Wait, wait!" He said trying to grasp her words. "It could be whispering." His face lit up with excitement. "That's fantastic! The same time you made him mad, his blood transformed." He grabbed his pen and started to write some more notes on this papers. He stopped upon hearing her words. "I don't know. The elemental power was rare but not uncommon in our kind." He said clearly in deep thought. "The only thing that I can't explain is your ability to revive the dead." He continued to write on his notes before speaking again. "Perhaps it's a gene passed down like eye color and height. Just because both parents have blue eyes doesn't mean the offspring will. The gene can rest dormant in others while active in another." He spoke mostly to himself, but he did think in some way it might be possible. Then his eyes widen. "Kiyan you said that Adaza gave you some of his energy. Correct?" He asked her curious.
Adaza was leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed. After he had cooled down he came to check on Kayo's progress only to find that Kiyan had beaten him to it. He stood there in silence listening to the two siblings. His eyes were closed as he did, they clearly didn't see or heard him come in. |
"Yeah that's right after I brought Lynia back he said he gave me some of his energy to boost my recovery, normally it takes me allot longer to even be able to stand after using that much power." Kiyan explained thinking a bit more "I honestly don't know anyone in our clan that can use that power other then me... I mean there was that legend but that was said to have taken place in 'the forest of beginnings' wherever or whatever that is." she pointed out clearly deep in thought and not facing the door so she really hadn't noticed anyone coming in yet, it was probably more surprising that her brother hadn't noticed though since he was facing the door

Quickly Kayo ran to his medical bag and gather a blood sample kit for his sister. He didn't even give her time to react before drawing her blood. "This will be an interesting test." He chirped with excitement. Adaza just shook his head while listening to the scene. He opened his pale eyes to see him draw the blood. "If he is a subclass then what will you gain from his energy?" Kayo said slightly ignoring his sister. Kayo was really far into the subject to notice anyone but his sister, even if he did pass right by Adaza to get the kit. Adaza just walked over and grabbed the notes facing Kiyan. He skimmed it before Kayo even noticed his friend. "Holy...!" Kayo shouted out in fright. He patted his chest and looked at Adaza. "When did you come in?" He asked curiously but Adaza didn't answer.

Kiyan yelp at her brothers sudden actions then was shocked as she saw Adaza honestly feeling rather embarrassed that she hadn't heard him come in. "Okay... i guess it runs in the family" she laughed a little. "how long have you been in here? I don't normally get so consumed with research like this." she said still surprised that she hadn't heard him come in

Adaza just set the notes on the table. "A subclass?." He questioned Kayo who just stared at him. "Yeah, I'm thinking it's why you surpassed every dark elf I know." Kayo replied, he shifted his eyes to his sister then back to Adaza; who seemed to be ignoring her. "Kiyan just told me something very interesting happened a little bit ago, right as your blood sample transformed." He said quietly, he could tell that his friend was still annoyed about something. "Unworldly hissing and crackling sounds with no source, that sounds like necromancy." He told Kayo who just smiled at his friend. "You can still use necromancy in human form?" He asked excitedly before he was cut off but Adaza. "I have a shard in my chest, I shouldn't be able to." Kayo just looked at his sister, then to his notes. "Everything is pointing to a subclass, how else can you explain it?" He asked curiously, "We'll just have to run more test." Kayo said happily.

Kiyan frowned but smiled a little at Adaza's words "From what I understand a person that is part of the subclass can do things that are unexplainable and normally impossible for the rest of their race, it would be amazing to finally prove that it's true, that would mean we would be able to know what the signs of the subclass are. Kayo already tried to run tones of tests on me when I found out that I could bring animals back to life but I never had enough energy to repeat the art once I used it." she explained but kinda felt that she would just be ignored again

Adaza just glance over to Kiyan as she spoke then back to the notes. "Subclasses have no blood traces or any DNA deformities so its hard to prove who is a subclass or not but with that shard in your chest, we can prove the existence at least." Kayo said looking at Adaza. He wanted to at least do that before seeing if his sister was one. She wasn't as strong as Adaza but if she was one then he'll have to find out why the difference. Then with his energy it would be interesting testing her even she wasn't. Kayo when into deep thought before snapping out of it. "Hey Adaza, can I ask you something without you getting angry?" Adaza just looked at him in curiously it. "Why did you give my sister some of your energy?" He asked seriously. "Is it because... in some way you like her?" Adaza just glared at his friend before turning to leave. "Hey! You can't leave without answering this time!" Kayo said before running to block his friends exit.

Kiyan nodded as she listened to her brother then was surprised and honestly embarrassed at his question but she wasn't quite sure why. "Come on Adaza! Just answer my question! You know I'm not going to stop until you do." Kayo pointed out to his friend still staying in the doorway so he couldn't get by.

Adaza just crossed his arms glaring at his friend that blocked his path. To be honest he did like her allot but he wasn't going to tell him that; at least not easily. "Move." He simply told Kayo. His glare never breaking. He started to like her when they were in the dungeon, when he wasn't being tortured he rather enjoyed the talks they had. Mostly because it took his mind off the pain and her concern for him. He rarely had anyone show the concern she did and he liked how she tried to act tougher than she actually was. Thats one of the reasons he was mad at her earlier, he knew it would get her killed one day.

"If I move will you tell me?" Kayo grinned easily clearly not giving in just like his friend. Kiyan put her hand over her face and shook her head, her brother was impossible, she was sure that if Adaza had any feelings for her it was either distaste or gratitude for saving his daughter. Though so some part of her she kinda wanted him to like her... but not so much that she would change how she was.

Adaza stood there with his arms still crossed. "How about you move and I won't rip your lungs out through your throat." He told him more as a statement then a question. Adaza wasn't going to give in and he never made idle threats, he was sure Kayo knew that too. He was a human so his nails weren't as sharp as they were in his elven form, making it far more painful in the threat. He narrowed his eyes at Kayo. "Move." He hissed darkly at his friend one more time as a warning before he would act out his threat.

"You're no fun Adaza" Kayo scoffed before finally moving crossing his arms in a pouting manner. Kiyan sighed once more shaking her head a bit before going over to the microscope to look at the blood Kayo had been looking at before noting that it did indeed look perfectly normal for elf blood and wondered what it looked like when Adaza was angry or using his powers like before

Adaza just waited till he moved out of the way before walking out of the library. He was slightly annoyed that Kayo asked those questions, yes he like her but he never was going to admit it; at least he didn't want to right now. Kayo just turned to his sister, "See that just proved he likes you." He said joking to his sister only to have Adaza turn back and hit him as hard as he could in the shoulder. "Ow!" Kayo cried out holding his arm in pain. Adaza just glared at Kayo before leaving once more. Annoyance clearly written over his face as he walked out once more. Kayo just fell to the ground holding his shoulder. "Why would you do that?" He asked in pain. "I think he broke it!" He said crying from the pain, it kind of served him right for taunting Adaza but he just wanted to prove a point.

"Kayo one day you're smart attitude is going to get you killed" Kiyan huffed before walking over to her brother and examined his arm before grabbing it and shoving it back into place. "There, you really have grown soft haven't you?" she teased. "You should get a micro camera to see if you can capture how the cells look when they change." she offered.

Kayo just whimpered at his sister after she popped his shoulder back in place. For a human Adaza hit pretty hard, he knew he was still strong but he wasn't expecting that much strength. "Yeah, that's what happens when you get married and get a desk job." Kayo replied softly, his arm still killing him. He stood and smirk at her. "I think I hit a nerve, did his blood transform?" He asked his sister jokingly but seriously at the same time. He nodded at her. "I have one in my room, I wasn't expecting the sudden changes so I didn't think of using it." He told her as he walked over to the table. His arm was pulsing from the pain, maybe taunting Adaza wasn't the best idea after Kiyan had angered him before hand.

"No not at all... it must be when he's really angry or frustrated, ya know when his powers come out, maybe you should keep an eye on it while he's training? since he normally uses his powers to train." Kiyan offered then smirked some. "For the ex general of the Darkous army that's a bad excuse, Mom used to fix you all sorts of goodies when you were home and you never put on a pound, you must just be too lazy to exercise now" she laughed

Kayo just looked at his sister. "Hm, I guess I will have to do that... or really irritate him." He said the last part smiling. He knew his sister would just shake her head at him. He laughed, "Mom's cooking is nowhere near as good as my wife's." He said jokingly, though he knew Kiyan would know he was joking. He missed his family greatly but what could he do, they were gone. "Yes, admit. I got lazy over the years." He said smiling.
Adaza had just washed his face in his bathroom connected to his study. He had a tiny box on his desk, he wasn't sure when it came but its been sitting there for a while it looked like. He patted his face dry and put the towel back. He went to his desk and opened the box. He smiled at the contents of the box, he closed the box thinking about the previous events. Kayo would just find some way to make fun of the gift and he knew it. "Should I even give her it..." He asked to no one. |
"Oh come on you can't tell me you don't miss the traditional foods Mom made on hallowdays. Heh that was probably the only way she could get me to do anything girly." Kiyan smirked. "You know... I might have to see if I can use the kitchen sometime, I know you loved the blue raspberry flame cake me and Mom came up with." she grinned easily. "heck I might even surprise everyone here by showing that i have some feminine skills" she laughed a little.

Kayo smiled at those memories. "Mmm, makes my stomach grumble at the thought." He said happily. He tried to teach his wife those dishes but she could never really get them down, granted her versions were great as well but not traditional Darkous dishes. "I'm pretty sure Adaza wouldn't care, I know the maids wouldn't. I use the kitchen all the time." He told his sister smiling. "Speaking of stomach grumbling and kitchens. It's dinner time." Kayo said happily. "Shall we adjourn to the dining room?" He playfully said in a snobby tone towards his sister.

"Maybe I could show her, but you gotta remember the only way to make some of the recipes is by using blue or black flames, it's not something you can recreate so easily." Kiyan pointed out then started laughing "Why yes dear brother I think we shall" she laughed mockingly. "Maybe I'll feel kind enough soon to make some of our old favorites, so you better be nice to me." she grinned easily

Kayo stuck his tongue out at his sister. "I'm your big brother, I don't have to be nice." He said walking out of the library and towards the dining room. He could smell the food from down the hall. He stopped seeing Lynia, his assistant and a maid slowly making their way to the dining room. "Good evening Lynia, how are you feeling?" He asked the little girl sweetly. "I'm fine, Uncle Kayo." She said softly, her voice slightly cracked from being sick. Her face lit up seeing Kiyan. She smiled at her sweetly. "I'm glad to see you feeling better." She told Kiyan in her weak voice.

Kiyan laughed and fallowed Kayo walking beside him down the hall her face lighting up with a bright smile as she saw the little girl clearly happy that she was doing well. "Thank you Lynia, I'm very happy to see you feeling better as well" she smiled easily happy to see that she was doing okay, hopefully her and Kayo could come up with a way to cure her sickness before it got bad again

Lynia just smiled as they entered the dining room, with help she sat in her normal seat near her daddy's. She looked up trying to see where her daddy was. "I'm sure he'll be here soon." Kayo said as if reading her mind, though it wasn't hard with the sad expression that came to her small face when she didn't see him. Her face perked up hearing the door open, she turned to see Adaza but he looked completely different then her daddy she knew.
She pulled away slightly when he smiled at his daughter, he wanted to give her a hug but she pulled away before he could. Adaza just smiled softly at her. "Its okay my love, you seen me like this before." He told her trying to calm her down but she was unsure of her father's new appearance. |
Kiyan frowned worriedly at the little girl before smiling a little "Lynia you're daddy has been through allot and has been very worried about you, don't you think you should at least smile at him?" she smiled gently to the little girl who looked to her softly then back to her father still worried seeing his change but got up and gave him a hug having still missed him greatly.

Adaza just hugged his daughter and nodded a thanks to Kiyan. Lynia quickly let go and looked at her place setting. "You look funny daddy..." Adaza just sat down and smiled at her bluntness. "I do, don't I." He straighten up his silverware as the maids came in with their plates. Kayo just chuckled. "Are you sure your daddy ain't pretty?" He asked the little girl sitting next to him but stopped when seeing Adaza glare at him. "Tell me Kayo, are you naturally this stupid or do you try?" He ask slightly annoyed at the male fox. Who just smiled at his friend. "Mystery even I don't know." He said jokingly before eating away and his potatoes.
