Between Dusk and Twilight (Mars & Divine Seduction)

Story:
A big city always attracts evil, as though the shadows somehow are big enough to hold it all. But in recent years people have heard talk of vampires, victims with their blood drained, or even corpses with bite holes on their necks. The police are baffled still and cannot catch the culprit. Recently unknown to the general population, the influx of tourists and new residents are vampires and vampire hunters alike.

In the dark of the night a war rages on unbeknownst to mundane humans... The hunters right now have the advantage, but they still have to hunt down the clan heads, least the threat never be quelled. The tension is high with the Dark One's being cornered, but that will only make things more dangerous. Who will come out on top? Or will the two find a reason for cohabitation before they destroy each other?

Name: Saxa Cross
Age: 24
Race: Human
Weapons: Twin Swords (Alpha&Omega) and twin pistols (Heaven&Hell).
Bio: Both of his parents were vampire hunters, so naturally Saxa learned his trade through the family. Around the time that Saxa turned sixteen his parents were sent out on a mission and never returned. He looked for clues far and wide never finding anything that would explain what happened to them. . .

The sun had set only an hour ago, but it was already time to get to work. There were vampires to be killed. He'd received a dossier on a few vampires to be wary of in the city, but none of them were outside of anything he'd ever handled before. Tolfer was a cold, harsh nightlife type of city, even in the winter. Not to mention it was now overrun with a vampire threat. There had been a few cases of homicide where people had been drained of their blood with only two dots left on their neck and other various deaths that were odd. People were skeptical of course, but the government always kept the truth from the public allowing VAMP to do their job. That was the agreement.

Part of being a hunter meant you had to be a detective too, and Saxa was a pretty good one. At the moment, he was on his way downtown to a hotel where there had been a killing, so he could investigate.

It took him about twenty minutes to reach the Marriott and his contact, Xander, was already there waiting. Saxa put on some plastic gloves and took his time and closely examined the body while Drew laid out the facts for him.

"So what do we have?"
"A woman. Her name was Heather, twenty three years old. She was a college student up the road like the last one."
"So what was she doing here?"
"Apparently she had a part time job doing some X-rated movies to help pay for college."
"Looks like her director and partner got a little more excited than usual."
"That's a bit of an understatement."

The hunter scoffed playfully as he examined the bite marks more closely. "Xan, come take a look at this." The older agent ran over to take a look, "What's up?" Saxa ran his fingers over the width between the teeth marks, "You see this. The bite marks are a little too close to each other to have come from a male which means that her partner was a woman. I think this is the same one from the other day." Shocked by the deduction Xander squinted at the marks hard, "You're right!"

Shaking his head in bewilderment the younger agent shrugged the older man's mild enthusiasm off, "And look at all this blood. It's a messy meal, so the vampire's got to be young. Or inexperienced in the least." Or possibly both. But no need to say that aloud.

The thing about this kill that was most important was the manner in which it had been done. Since it was messy, that meant that this was likely a young vampire, who could be extremely dangerous. They could go on a killing spree on any given night. The problem was figuring out the pattern, if there was one, and if it was the same vampire.

Divine Seduction 10-01-2012 03:28 AM

Harleigh licked her lips in anticipation as the sun set, her nose picked up the scent of gun powder, hunters were near and she was itching for action. It had been longer than she liked since her last hunter kill, and since they had no such qualms about killing vampires she felt it was fair that someone hunted them with as much mercilessness. God, there was no God; what kind of God allowed such evil in something that was supposed to be good. Even as Harleigh understood that evil vampires or killer ones must be killed for the safety of the world she knew that their indiscrimination was just as evil.

"I hope you've said your prayers Hunter, because they shall be your last words to God before I send you to Hell." Her voice was soft but full of menace. Though she looked small and fragile she was no push-over and had many kills under her belt. She followed her nose, for a few minutes; tha Marriott.

'Interesting... I wonder what it's doing here.' Her thoughts were clear and focused, she looked around to see that traffick was busy but np one was paying attention, taking a running start she launched herself and caught the edge of the balconey and pulled herself up slowly. She surveyed the room quickly, taking in the two males and the dead female. She didn't dare take a breath as she vaulted over and landed silently, she slowly unwound her whip from her waist. She had once chance, taking a deep breath she counted to 20 as she inhaled.

Suddenly a sharp ear-splitting and debilitaing scream rent the air, the thick sound proof glass shattered and keep her scream from being as leathal as it could.

Marsyas 10-01-2012 05:24 AM

As Saxa was trying to piece this whole situation together and get an idea of how to stop this rogue from attacking again the glass shattered and a bonechilling shrill racked the men's ears. Instinctively both men covered their ears and Xander fell to his knees in fear.

"Get out of here. I'll give you a call later!" he shouted to his friend once the scream had subsided.

Reaching for the pistols at his waist he sent off a few warning shots as he tried to secure an exit for them to make a run for it. He couldn't fight the monster in here. It was too risky and dangerous.

With his ears still ringing, Sax followed Xander out the door and made him take the elevator while he in turn took the stairs. Xander was a simple agent, not a hunter so he couldn't defend himself like Saxa could. So he would draw the vampires attention away from here. Leaping down the flight of stairs in a hurry, he quickly made his way to the first floor and out the back door which lead to an open area which served as crossroad to some alleys between a few of the buildings.

There were only two street lights back here but it was still quite dark. Though to his defense, the hunter had great vision even at night. Saxa slowly caught his breath as he placed Hell, his right handed gun, into it's holster and drew Omega the corresponding sword.

"I know you're here so come down here and let's talk."

It was an odd request from a hunter but he was at the disadvantage here so maybe the beast would humor his request. With a scream like that, he would die if the vampire kept its range, he needed it closer to him. Preferably within sight.

Divine Seduction 10-01-2012 11:44 AM

"How stupid do you think the beings you slaughter Hunter?" Harleigh asked with a giggle. She noted that he was cute, too bad; he like all the others had to die. Leaning over the balconey she winked down at him. "Ready to die babe?" Her voice now sounded devoid of emotion, which meant she was getting serious; no games, this man had twin swords and twin pistols and was not a green horn. She licked her lips again before wagging her fingers at him, then she jumped for him her claws aiming for his face, looking to blindside him. But then she heard the sirens approaching, and turned her head to see that indeed humans were now taking notice. She had made a rookie mistake in her overeagerness to kill both men. "We'll continue this later sexy, promise not to let someone else kill you!" She called this out to him as she was wrapping her whip back around her waist and taking off in a dead run.

As a Dhampir she did was not blessed with perternatural speed, a long life, faster healing, better eye sight, sound, touch and taste; things that made her just a super human, nowhere near as powerful as a Vampire. Her legs carried her down 10 blocks before she made a hasty left turn, using a stop sign to swing her around in that direction. Right now her aim was to reach shelter, she'd go home later. Training was in order, first as in part to restore the self-discipline that she had begun to feel unravelling lately and secondly she needed to blow off steam, for some reason before she'd left that Hunter had smelled slightly familiar, and with her memory she knew she'd never before seen him. What a puzzle.

***************

It was not becoming to run from a fight, but what choice had she had? Her impetious decision could have cost her her life, and that wasn't something she relished. It was about half an hour later, Harleigh was back in the downtown district and she was meditating atop the roof of one of the skyscrapper buildings. There was no doubt that earlier had been foolish, and that angered her; revenge would die with her, Vampire didn't hunt Hunters as she did. She'd made a vow to herself after discovering her parents death and disapperence, 'Until I kill those who killed you, Momma and Poppa, I won't relent; they'll know no mercy from me.'

A ten year old Dhampir, forced to learn the hard way that she was not like others at all. Humans were weaker, more fragile and held the same evil in their hearts as Vampires, they just refused to acknowledge it, how else could you justify killing a family; a woman who fed off animals, not humans and a man who loved that woman. Lucky she had been gone, or she too would be dead, or worse. This was counter productive, thinking about that at a time like this only upset her, when she needed to be calm. What was wrong with her lately?

Then she found herself face first on the ground. A dark chuckled sounded from above her, something was pinning her arms as she pulled at them. With her face down like this, she'd only hurt herself if she screamed. 'It's always something...' she thought with a bit of annoyance as ceased struggling and simply relaxed.

A whistle then the person atop her was speaking, "She's a pretty one, how much do you think we'll get for her?" Female.
"I don't know, she's scrawny and pale..." now a male.
"Well I like her if we can't sell her we'll keep her." A sigh| then rustling; her face was buried in gravel being held down by the females hand, obviously a Vampire. She knew what this was, and in all honesty it was her own fault. That ear splitting screech that she'd loosed earlier must have been heard by a slaver ring, Mythics who sold off other Mythics.

Belatedly she gave a thought to the Hunter from earlier as she was blindfolded, bound and gagged. 'First I have to escape, then I can hopefully use them to find him...' it was gonna be a long night.

Marsyas 10-02-2012 07:40 AM

The hunter looked up in a situation that seemed to be reversed, with him being the prey and she the hunter. It wasn't funny to him, nor did he appear amused as the beast taunted him. It only made his blood boil even more than it had before. Admittedly she was young looking and attractive in a way but if she was stupid enough to play to his terms, she would lose this fight. Though, she wasn't, "I don't think you're stupid. I just hope you are," he replied back in a calm sarcastic tone.

Though his hide was saved as she lunged at him and sirens sounded off in the background nearby, and she let up on her assault just as he got ready to lunge at her. He smirked to himself as she told him not to die before she killed him, but he wasn't about to let her get away from him so easily.

As she dashed off Saxa tracked her. She was faster than him, certainly, but he'd been doing this for years and his eyesight was really good and he was much faster and agile than the average human. It was a trait both hereditary and learned for the job. She would have to nearly completely disappear for him to lose her.

For about thirty minutes he followed her as closely as he could following her to a skyscraper building downtown, deciding it would be easier to stay on foot than follow by vehicle. It had been a horribly bad idea. He was almost dead tired now, even being in as good a shape as he was and some of the people that he passed by gave him concerned looks. He wasn't trying to draw attention to himself but there was little choice when it came to tracking a target.

By any means necessary.

That was the family creed. He lived by it.

It was another five minutes before he reached the roof of the building, and when he arrived at the door leading outside there were voices. Vampires. A male and female obviously, and from the sounds of it, his prey had been captured before he could get to her. It was both amusing and ironic, but there was a certain amount of pride that came with this line of work; meaning he intended to finish the job himself.

With Heaven and Hell ready now at his sides, Saxa kicked open the door and shot the female in the head almost instantly dead on. The male leaped out of the way and darted to his back then lunged at him in what seemed like the blink of an eye. Pivoting quickly, the hunter let off a few shots while holstering one gun and unsheathing a blade. His shots missed as he had anticipated they would but as he unsheathed his sword and swung, he managed to slice off one of the male's hands cleanly.

The vampire jumped back in agony, wreathing in pain, but he didn't back down. He needed the moment to get his composure back. Saxa went dual blades with the time he had and ran towards the night-stalker. As the hunter narrowed the space between them, so did the hunted.

A short exchange ensued.

At the end of the short but savage bout, Saxa had managed to gut the male and relieve it's shoulder of any burdens above. Panting and gasping for air as he wiped a bit of sweat from his brow, the hunter looked over at his thoroughly captured target and laughed, "Well well, they made this even more tough on me than you did."

He walked over to the girl as he put away his swords and drew one of his pistols, "I'm about to remove the blindfold and take out the gag. If you scream, I shoot. Plain and simple. I think we can be civil for a while before I have to kill you. Don't you agree?" Following his word, he removed the gag and blindfold but left her tied up. "Don't try to run. I'm a good aim," he told her pointing back at the woman with a silver bullet through the center of her skull.

Taking a seat down in front of her to catch his breath, it was time for a little investigative work, "So are you the one who killed the girl in the Marriott? And why did you attack me. You obviously know I'm a hunter, so why not get me when I'm completely unprepared?"

Divine Seduction 10-02-2012 12:35 PM

Harleigh watched this exchange without a batting an eye lash, had these two not attacked her! She had to say she admired his handy work; agile, quick and ruthless. The two were now dead and she was left at his mercy, something she couldn't stand. Her pride burned in her throat as he asked her his questions.

"Normally I wouldn't bother to answer, but you helped me... not that I needed it. No I don't feed off humans dipstick, I was raised on animal blood. I'm the by product of VAMP; those bastards murdered my mother and father in cold blood, so as revenge I kill Hunters like you kill Vampires. Why attack you, well I haven't made a kill in a while and I got antsy, you were the closet slim bag I could find." She looked up at him, now that they were dead, she saw working her nails against her bonds, she just needed to keep him distracted a while longer. At this point simply throwing him off the building and to his death was enough for her. She was glad for small favors, Hunters couldn't tell the difference between a Vampire or any of they're human offspring. Though Dhampirs were rare nowadays, there had once been at least half as many of them as there had been Vampires.

Finally she felt the ropes snap and pounced on him, knocking the pistol away from her and and gabbing hold of his wrists, she held them pinned to the ground, she made no other move. She couldn't, his scent held her enthralled. Her eyes glazed over and for a few seconds she wasn't there. When her eyes focused again, she stared down at him with an over abundance of hate and rage. "Your scent, it smelled familiar... odd because I've never met you before today. Now while we're being civil, since I don't plan to kill you while you're not on your best game, you should simply lay there and listen." Her voice came out a throaty growl, her voice slightly clogged with tears. "My mother was a Vampire, my father human. She never drank from a human since she was first created centuries ago, and she passed the teaching to me. As you know Dhampirs are weaker than their all powerful cousins, but stronger than humans. I was accepted by neither, and the humans can never tell the difference anyway. But I was on a school trip, 10 years ago... only for a couple days, but when I came home there was a new family there, but they hadn't been there long enough to mask the scent of blood and gun powder. I remembered the scent because I vowed to kill whoever did it as well as other Hunters. You reek of that gunpowder, why is that? Why do you smell like my parents murderers?!" The last part she yelled, though it wasn't her screech it was grating on the ears. And being this close it would no doubt hurt him, but she was upset, and confused. For some reason she felt tears gather in her eyes, the color becoming an even more piercing gray, her lower lip trembled and her body took on a fine tremor.

Her instincts were screaming to kill him, weak or no and be done with it. But after talking about her parents, she couldn't find the strength. They would be ashamed. She had killed people, more than she could count... and the man beneath her smelled so close to the scent she knew, but it was off. He wasn't to blame. Her inner turmoil was visible, and for once her guard was down, it would be easy for him to kill her now. And she didn't care.

Marsyas 10-02-2012 07:32 PM

The hunter's eyebrow twitched as the woman insulted him and he grinned slightly as he listened to the woman. Apparently she wasn't the one who killed the other two college students but she had a grudge against hunters. He hadn't heard that the hunters were being hunted. It wasn't unnatural for them to lose their lives in this line of work anyway. Though something she said threw him off. She didn't feed on human's but animals instead. She wasn't a normal vampire.

He was trying to remember what they were called, the hybrids, when suddenly her bonds snapped as she was on top of him. She had disarmed him when she lunged on him suddenly and her grip was pretty damn strong though he was sure she wasn't a vampire now. His eyes locked with hers and for a moment true fear ran through his body. She looked like she was about to lose control and there was nothing he could do at the moment. He curled his legs up to get some leverage as she came to again.

As she began her story his body relaxed but his eyes grew cold and uncaring. So she had lost her parents. Well she wasn't the only one but it was something they had in common. His reason for pressing forward and hers were one and the same. His ears and head rang a bit when she screamed at him. It left him disoriented for a few moments, but she was trembling with rage right now and her grip had weakened just enough for him to attempt this.

With his legs pressed together he bucked upward to throw the lighter female from his lap loosing her grip from his wrists. Snapping over and grabbing his gun, he pinned the vampire with the gun pressed to her head and a hand over her lips, "You shout, I shoot." They were back at square one.

"I didn't kill your parents. Ten years ago I was just starting to hunt vampires and my parents didn't allow me to kill anything at that time. They were still training me." A wave of memories he always tried his best to suppress came rushing forward and now he was trembling with anger, "My parents went missing some years ago. Vanished without a trace. You hunt us hunters so maybe you did it! Maybe it was you that deprived me of my family, huh!" He removed his hand from her mouth and took out his second pistol placing it centimeters from her lips. He knew she couldn't have killed his parents if she thought that they had killed hers, but what if all this was a lie?

"I'm going to ask you one question and if I feel like its a lie, I'm blowing your brains out. If you try to scream," he pressed the gun to her throat, "I'll blow a hole through your esophagus." His tone was edged with a dangerous amount of truth.

"Did you kill my parents?"

Divine Seduction 10-03-2012 01:06 PM

Tears had spilled over and were tracking down the side of her face, her eyes were liquid silver in her pain. She glared up at him as he once again shoved that hateful gun in her face. Harleigh wished that she'd never gone after him, it had been the biggest mistake of her life yet. She had gotten emotional and then lost her advantage, pinned under him as she was.

"I hardly had powers at 10! Let alone the strength to kill two adult Hunters, but I suspect that yours kill mine... and since yours disappeared I never got to get my revenge and now I know why." She lifted her legs and locked them around his neck before pushing back and throwing him off of her. She hissed at him, barring her fangs, which were smaller than a regular Vampires. She backed away slowly saying, "I have reason to kill you, my mother never laid a hand on a human aggression! She was more human than either of us, and still... your parents robbed me of mine, I pray to whatever God might hear me that yours died for what they did. Does it make any difference that as a small child they would have killed me, or worse taken me in to be experimented upon, bred, to live in a cage as though I was an animal? An innocent who never harmed anyone? Can you say that you know that every Vamprie you ever killed was evil? You disgust me! You self righteous pricks don't even know, you're the greater of two evils." She jumped over his head and landed on the ledge then she jumped. She had to get away, she was mentally unstable. Her emotions were running hot and cold.

She used the steel in between the windows to be her foot holds as she jumped down the building. She was even more determined to outrun him than last time. Harleigh knew that as a human he would have an even harder time keeping up with her, after all this and she intended to use that to her advantage. When she finally landed onthe ground she took off running to the north, towards the mountains. She couldn't stay here any longer. Her life was a mass of things to regret and now she saw what she could really become, the same kind of evil that both Vampires and Hunters were and she couldn't take that.

She managed to make it as far as the city exit sign, before she had to catch her breath. It was a long run from the entrance of th city to the exit. Thankfully she knew the Hunter was weak and would not be able to find her once she made it to the mountain springs, she would cleanse herself there then return to the city in the morning, and make herself scarce.

Marsyas 10-03-2012 07:11 PM

"You don't know that. You can't prove my parents killed yours," he calmly replied. The next thing he knew, she had him by the neck with her legs and she was free again while he was on his back. Thankfully she didn't attack. He was losing his will to fight. As she backed away and continued her speech, her words hit more than any ever before. There was nothing he could say. He couldn't disprove anything that she said. Truthfully, he had stopped killing out of simple hatred a few years ago but that didn't erase all of his sins before then.

As she once again sprinted off, Saxa got to his feet and let her go. He was tired, and mentally fatigued. Her words had struck home harder than any form of physical attack she could have launched at him. His parents had taught him that all vampires were evil, but it was true that they could have been wrong. It was obvious that they had emotional ties and such though most acted like they didn't. He'd never seen one cry before but many had begged for their lives before he killed them.

No.

He shouldn't be questioning his values and beliefs based off of one half-breed's sob story. She wasn't the only one who had lost her family, and if she had lost it at age ten then she had no ideas what went on when she wasn't around just like he didn't know how his parents conducted themselves when he wasn't present. His faith wouldn't be shaken so easily.

It was time for him to go home.

This night had been long, and more stressful than usual. Reaching into his coat, he grabbed his cell and called Xander and told him to come pick him up. If he walked all the way back to his car, he'd be at risk and right now there was way too much on his mind. No need to get killed uselessly. For some reason, he wanted to meet with this dhampir again. She had his attention, though his emotions were teetering uncontrollably right now.

She could prove to be more dangerous to him than any vampire he'd faced up til now. The next time they met, he would have to be on guard.

Divine Seduction 10-03-2012 09:50 PM

(Let's do the time warp again! *does the time warp*)

A week later...

Harleigh was back in the city, her whip was at home... and so was her hatred, she had spent the night she had met that Hunter up in the mountains, the waterfall had been one of her mothers favorite places to visit when she was young. The cabin that they had occupied was vacant and that was great thing for her, she would not be disturbed.

She could tell that she had hurt the Hunter with her words. And she was glad to have made him see the kind of pain and perversion that his VAMP buddies caused. But she wasn't dwelling on that, because she wanted to work through her pain, and though she was sure that she would not kill Hunters for revenge anymore. She would only kill if forced to, if she had the chance she would flee.

Today she was going shopping, she had robbed many of those Hunters for their money, and she was glad of it. Now she could set herself up for a comfortable life. The same day that she had come back to the city she had begun to look for a house, and just yesterday had signed the papers, and now she was the proud owner of a small cape cod on the outskirts of town. And she was buying furniture and perishables, some clothes and maybe she would look into cars tomorrow. But she was also going to have to go to the phone company, see what she could do about a house phone and a cell phone.

She wore a black baggy XXL hoodie, a black t shirt, and black jeans. Her contacts were in nd her face was devoid of make-up. Except for her hair which was back in a ponytail, everything about her looked somewhat normal. She couldn't take the chance of some other Hunter finding her, not when she had just made a turn around. Harleigh was feeling happy, and content right now. She was trying to turn her life around, and if she never saw another Hunter it would be too soon.

Marsyas 10-03-2012 10:18 PM

It had been a long, less than productive week after he'd met with the dhampir. She'd thrown his game off a bit, and ever since then it seemed like he had always been a step off of his normal tendencies. The one bright spot was that he'd found the serial killing vampire. It was a female as he had thought and she was targeting college student by hypnotism. Sax was sure that if he hadn't delved himself almost entirely into that case he would've missed the signs that he'd just barely managed to pick up. Many more kids could have died.

In the wake of the case, it occurred to him that he was college aged and that maybe if he hadn't taken up the family profession that could've been him. It was a somber thought but it brought up a point that maybe he was working too much. Maybe right now would be a good time to take a break and enjoy life for a little bit. The hunter made more than enough money, he had a nice one story house on the edge of town. A good car, paid off and the kicker was he realized he didn't have any friends. Xander was a co-worker. And there was a bit of an age gap between them. Hell he didn't even know what the man liked to do in his free time.

Hunting had consumed so much of his life, he didn't know what he liked to do in his free time. The half-breed had left an impression on him and to his surprise, whenever he thought of her now, he really wanted to thank her. Over the week, instead of growing bitter, he'd prayed and reflected. He was sure that you were only suppose to die once, this is true, but maybe some of those vampires hadn't had a choice. Maybe some of them were good people. It was a lot of maybe's but the truth was. . . it was possible.

Sax figured that after his vacation, he'd make a personal change to hunt the one's that needed to be hunted. But there was time to think about that later. Right now, it was time to go invest in some new clothes. Outside of his work clothes, the man barely had anything else in his closet so it was time to amp up his wardrobe.

Headed to the mall he wore a long grey pea coat, a white v-neck with black jeans and grey boots. He tied the top half of his hair in a ponytail and wore his only pair of sunglasses he owned. A slender pair of Dolce & Gabbana's. They had been expensive when he bought them and had always thought they looked really good on him.

-------

As he arrived at the mall, decidedly his first stop would be for lunch. He had missed breakfast today as he finished up the paperwork for his last assignment. Looking around he decided that some Panda Express sounded good. He ordered the orange chicken and took a seat by himself at a table for two in the corner of the crowded area.

(I figured using normal restaurants would be easier than trying to make up a million new ones. I meant to ask you earlier if you wanted a specific city in the US to be the setting of the story?)

Divine Seduction 10-12-2012 06:15 AM

(I'm sorry lovie, phon issues! But I didn't mind, um I mean if you want to discuss details so we know em before hand cool we can do that, if not we'll just make it up as we go along ;p)

Harleigh was less than surprised when she smelled the Hunter enter into Panda Express. Fate could sometimes be a jerk, and that's exactly what was happening right now. She didn't change anything about her demeanor, and wasn't going to run now that she had food. She valued a good mal, and honestly he wasn't her concern. So she simply found a table far away from him and sat down, she cracked her chopsticks and flipped open her diary and placed a book on the table. She nibbled at her own orange chicken and white rice, writing with intent.

'Month: O, Date: 12;

Well now that I'm back in the city I run almost immediately into the Hunter from last week. Sometime I think when they were handing out luck I missed mine. But I digress, I saw a lot of things I liked today, clothing stores run a close second to GameStop. But Border's is honestly my number one. I suppose I should be worried that now that I'm getting settled that this thing with the Hunter might not blow over, but I'm not worried. I feel a sense of resignation now that I think about it, but hopefully nothing will happen; he'll get on with his life and I'll get on with mine.

Mom and Dad, I hope you're well. I hope you're proud. I am finally going to live the way you taught me.' With a flourish she signed her name at the bottom and closed the diary, then dug into her food. She was starving, her once a month craving had ben satisfied on the first, and now she was actually going to treat herself, eat human food like she was human and live like her parents would have actually wanted her to. She supposed another step was to get into a career, other than Hunter hunting. It could be very lucrative, but she wasn't going to hunt them, so she needed a trade or something. "Time to get a job, sigh. At least I'll be somewhat more normal for that." She spent the rest of her time reading, smiling and laughing, totally engrossed in her book.

Finally she finished her food and cleared away her stuff, should she just go home or searching for a job? Maybe she- "Shit!" She exclaimed as she looked around, she was supposed to have been meeting her boyfriend. Oh she really needed a cell phone, to keep in contact and be available. Ugh now what? She'd stood him up, they were supposed to meet at Steve and Barry's well over 3 hours ago, oh she hoped he was still there but she doubted it. She did manage to finally catch a glimpse of the Hunter as she hurried past him.

After sitting down and praying over his food, Sax dug into the fried rice and egg rolls first. He didn't realize how hungry he was until just now and it probably showed as he scarfed down half his meal within the minute that he sat down. Taking a moment to breathe, he looked around the crowded room and across the room he noticed a familiar looking woman in all black. To be honest she reminded him of the Dhampir he'd ran into. She was attractive looking in the face and part of him wanted to go talk to her. Both to see if she was the Dhampir and if she wasn't, just to talk to her.

Saxa wouldn't have known where to start actually. That was what kept him in his seat, other than his food. He continued to eat but now at a much healthier pace, and around the time that he finished the girl from earlier came sprinting past him. He locked eyes with him for a brief second but he wasn't sure what that look meant. Oh well. He was going to shop a little bit for himself and that was that. After throwing his food away he set out to look around the mall.

He decided to look around Pac-Sun for some jeans first and then make his way around from there.

When she finally arrived her so called boyfriend was in the arms of another female, a tall blonde pretty one with fake everything. He saw her and then smirked, Harleigh giggled, waved and then walked off. Well she supposed that T-Mobile was going to be her next destination. "Well, I guess that SideKick will be mine." she smiled a little and then veered off in the direction of Spencer's and HotTopic, she needed new corsets and skirts. She wondered if there was a sex shop close by. They sold the best outfits. She smiled with unabashed glee as she tore through shops, her wardrobe would never be empty again.

When she left, she sighed, she had more bags than she could carry. She was hot too, she took her hoodie off to revel a tight black baby tee. She tied it around her waist then wiped her face. "Damn, that jerk would have been a great help right about now." she said in a low and angry tone as she paced back and forth a bit. She hated to ask for help, but he was really the only one that she knew. She pursed her lips and then found some hapless unsuspecting female and enthralled her, it would only last about 10 minutes. Her vampiric powers were weaker than a purebreds but she had to admit that it came in handy sometimes.

She sniffed him out and found him in some clothing store, she wasn't sure which one and wasn't about to ask. "Hey." she called out, a good five feet behind him to avoid his reach. She just wanted help, and maybe he would; he didn't seem like the other Hunters, else she would have probably already have been dead by his hand.

Finding some jeans that he liked turned out to be a bit more difficult than he first thought it would be. But finding anything else seemed to be easy enough. Bouncing around from shop to shop, Sax bought a few new pairs of jeans, some fashionable shirts and a new pea coat, then got some scarves and a new pair shoes to go with the other stuff. He planned on getting some new watches and earrings too but first he needed some more underwear and socks.

As he made his way into American Eagle, he browsed around for a while before he heard that familiar voice. When he turned around he saw the girl from earlier, only now he knew for sure she was the Dhampir that he'd encountered. He remembered her voice vividly. She kept her distance from him which said that she was on guard. Smart, but unnecessary at the moment. "Yes?" he replied calmly as he took in her now exposed figure with a slightly raised brow. Then he glanced at the woman beside her. She was enthralled and holding quite a few bags. Saxa only had two of his own.

"Looks like you've done quite a bit of shopping," stated in a matter-of-fact manner.

"She's not gonna help with the bags, I was hoping that maybe you could. Please?" she asked softly, giving him puppy dog eyes and pouting. She snapped her fingers and let the woman go back to whatever she was doing, not like she flaunted her powers, she'd simply needed a guard dog. She looked at his bags, which were only two. She wondered why she was asking him for help, he was the enemy still.

She noticed that there were men staring at her, she flipped them off and put her hoodie back on, she couldn't handle the attention, to her there was never anything good about it. But she noticed she hadn't minded when he'd looked at her, and that made her blush slightly. "I would also like to let you know that I'm not hunting anymore, I plan to live a peaceful life from now on. I'm sorry about what I said about your parents." she said softly, as she ducked her head to let her hood give her some privacy. She bite her lip and was getting ready to retreat, this had been a stupid idea. They were natural born enemies and she was looking for his help, 'Idiot!' she yelled at herself. Nothing to do for it, she would leave and save face.

Hearing the half breed ask him for help after they both nearly killed one another a week ago was shocking. She was undeniably attractive, a fact she couldn't seem to handle as she flipped off the other men who looked at her. Though he wasn't sure that he could say that he trusted her. This could be an act to get him killed. Anything was possible. Still, a part of him that was overly friendly said to take a chance. He didn't have any weapons on him to defend himself, so if she attacked, he was definitely going to be at a disadvantage.

As he thought over the offer, he got a second shock. She apologized for what she had said to him about his folks. And as many times as he could run it through his mind that second, she seemed genuinely sincere. Looking around at the men in the store, they all seemed to be content to glance in this direction occasionally to see what happened between the two them. The hunter shook his head, "A bunch of damn sharks." Letting out a sigh he shrugged his shoulders, "Alright. I'll help you carry your bags." He was still a little skeptical but he'd take the risk, "Please don't attack me. I'm really not in the mood to have to defend myself. Now, are you done shopping?" he asked as he went and picked up the bags that were left.

She felt a genuine shock when he said that he would, and the fact that he'd even actually talked to her was a surprise too. She hadn't expected him to, well of course she had, why else would she ask? There was nothing wrong with it, was there? Asking him of all people to help her, she supposed she could have done worse.

"Done, for today yes... It's mostly stuff for the house actually, only a couple of outfits and shoes. But thank you, um... I don't have a car, I haven't bought one yet. I don't have any weapons, well um... I guess I shouldn't get too close, my nails are poison dipped, I haven't cut em yet." she said, before she began to bite them off. She looked up at him, a gentle look of acceptance. "Oh um... I'm Harleigh Remy, and you are?" she introduced herself and offered him a lovely smile, one full of shyness and nervousness, she never talked to anyone. But she knew that he was not like others, she could tell from him actually helping her. He was nice, something she hadn't encountered in anyone in a long time.

Marsyas 10-16-2012 09:53 PM

'Why are you doing this?' he thought to himself. Now that he was thinking things over after being a hunter for this long, he realized that he hadn't bothered to set up any real connections. He was admittedly lonely. Now he was to the point that he was willing to be accepted by anyone. Even an enemy. But she was sweet. Something that most female hunter's he'd met weren't. She seemed to have more of a heart that the people in his profession.

He chuckled a little bit as she stammered through her sentences, "Relax a little bit. No need to be so nervous, unlike you. . . I don't bite," he teased with a slight grin. Though he wondered if that was a bit of a harsh joke. It was cute to see her smile. So much so, that he smiled back instinctively. "That's a beautiful name. I'm Saxa Cross. An odd name, I know." He took one more glance around and decided that it was time to leave, "I have a car, come on. I'll take you home." He could finish his shopping later since he was on vacation with plenty of time.

"Where do you live Harleigh?" he questioned as they exited the mall and arrived at his black Infiniti G37 coupe. It was a pretty expensive car, but with his salary he could easily afford it and a few others if he wanted. He put all the bags in the trunk and opened to door for Harleigh, "Here you go."

Divine Seduction 10-16-2012 10:21 PM

"Call me Leigh or Har, please. And I live on the west outskirts of town, in a little cape cod. And thank you Sax, for helping. I was named after the Joker's woman, so I'm thinking that yours is normal. But thank you, nice car." she slide in to the seat and watched him walk around to his side. 'Nice arse...' she thought to herself, but then turned around to face front. The seats felt plush, she liked it; a car like this could be hers tomorrow.

"It's hard not to be nervous, even though I asked for help... I'm still a woman, you're a man. All you have to do now is cover my mouth and I'm defenseless, I bite off my nails to show I meant no harm." she said, leaning on her hand as she looked out the window towards the changing scenery. "Would you like to go on a date?" she said suddenly. 'You have nothing to lose, he's cute, not gonna kill you and hey you need at least some kind of interaction with people...'

Marsyas 10-16-2012 10:38 PM

"Alright, Leigh it is. And you say you live on the western outskirts huh? That's not too far from me actually. I live south of you though. And thank you," he finished as he closed the door and walked to his side and got in. He backed out smoothly then set off towards the woman's home following her directions.

"Oh really?" Leaning back as he let his left hand steer he put his right hand over her mouth, "Are you defenseless now?" He smiled at her and gave a quick wink as they slowed to a stop at the light and he removed his hand. Then his body went numb at her question. It wasn't until people started honking for him to go did Saxa realize he was in a daze, "Wait huh? You wanna go on a date?" The question had caught him off guard and there was nothing smooth about his reaction. "Yeah, sure. I could use the company. I'm on vacation right now anyway so I have nothing to do. When do you wanna go?" His mind was racing as to what they should do on a date. He'd never been on one and wasn't really sure what all they should do or how to keep her entertained. Hell was he even an entertaining person? It was still hard to get over the fact that she even asked him.

'Does she like me? Highly unlikely. Maybe she just needs a friend like you. In which case this can be beneficial for you both so calm down and just roll with it.'

Divine Seduction 10-16-2012 10:50 PM

She chuckled as he laid a hand over her mouth, he had a sense of humor at least. She noticed his freezing at her question, and giggled. She'd caught him off guard, and she liked that. He wasn't cold and responded to her, which she needed pretty bad right now.

"When, let's drop the stuff off, I'll change and you can go home and change if you'd like. But what kinds of places do you like, since this would be something right off the back.... Ah! Let's go to the arcade, I love going there and it's fun." she said with excitement evident in her voice. She would actually like to be his friend, a date though, 'Bonus!' If nothing came of this she would at least have the memory of having such a cute guy to treat her like a lady for once.

She pictured the outfit and make up that she would wear, she knew she would dress casual but she was going to make sure that her new clothes got good use, and what better way than dates? She secretly wished that something else would maybe come of this, she didn't know why though. It could be because he knew what she was and was still willing to be seen with her.

Marsyas 10-16-2012 11:02 PM

He looked down at his clothes and figured he was well dressed for a casual date at an arcade and decided that he was fine, "Okay. I'll just wait for you to change. I think I'm good with what I have on." Hell he'd already been a bit overdressed to go to the mall but whatever. It had turned out to play in his favor so no complaints here. She was a beautiful looking woman slash vampire but either way it didn't matter. As long as she acted and behaved like a human he would treat her like one.

He'd seen how his parents acted, and they were a great example so maybe the two of them could be how his parents were? It was worth a try but there was no need to rush things. They did tell him that a good relationship was all about communication and a true desire to be with your partner. "After the arcade lets hit up a horror movie! I haven't been to the movies since I was a little kid so I think it'd be nice. Then we can do dinner. We'll both be hungry by then. Sound like a plan?"

Saxa found that he was smiling at the prospect of being on a date with Leigh. She was the type of beauty that would turn heads for sure. The incident in the mall was proof of that, but aside from that she seemed down to earth and liked to have fun. That gave her extra points in his eyes.
