Once Upon A Time [a two part fairy tale rp]
 

Summary: Everyone has a favorite fairy tale, that one story that captured their hearts and their imaginations when they were young, but what if I told you that they weren't just stories? What if I told you that they actually happened?

Welcome to Storybrook, Maine, home of the curse. What is this curse, you ask? Remember those fairy tale, remember those beloved characters from your childhood? Well, the curse was the ending of the world as they knew it, a ploy by the Evil Queen to ruin happily ever after for all time. In Storybrook, those fated to be together are kept apart. In Storybrook, the clock never moves, the denizens remain in stasis, unable to remember their former lives, and magic is a thing found in children's storybooks.

Info: This RP will be based on ABC's Once Upon A Time. However, you don't necessarily need to know anything about the show itself to participate. Fairy tale knowledge will serve you well here.

This will be a two part / two thread RPG, taking place both in the fairy tale world and in modern day Storybrook. The events in the Fairy Tale world thread will loosely effect what happens in the Storybrook thread. For the majority of the characters, this will not happen right away (only Regina and Gold remember their former lives, after all) but, as the savior (Emma) interacts with the denizens, they may begin to remember snippets of what once was. Do note that anyone who takes a character in one thread will be responsible for their counterpart in the other thread. For example, I plan on playing Rumpelstiltskin in the fairy tale world, so I will also be taking up his modern day counterpart Mr. Gold.

Indeed. Though, generally speaking, I'll just list the folks who have appeared in the show thus far, and any other fairy tale character you can think of who isn't on the list can be added as an OC.

The show is really good, the second seson just started sunday o.o
never thought about doing it as a roleplay though.

I couldn't help but make an RP for it, what with the whole 'based on stories' thing. ^.^;
I've enjoyed the show thus far (I'm caught up at the moment). Some of the acting leaves a bit to be desired at times, but the concept is awesome.

At what point in the story would the RP be taking off from? Or are you just planning on rewriting the story entirely from the beginning?

I was planning on having a reboot of sorts, see what we could do with the world. Of course, if those involved want to have it set at a specific point, that'd be fine with me.

Starting from the beginning sounds like it could be fun. I'd love to play Belle, or maybe introduce Robin Hood as a character.

Edit: And if you wanna get this thing started soon but don't have anyone else wanting to play any mains (eg. Emma, Evil Witch, Henry, etc...) I'd be willing to play one of them as well.

I figured folks would take well to rewriting, doing their own thing with the concept. Aaaanywho, I'd love to have a Belle running around or a Robin Hood (or both). I do believe people will be able to take up to three characters for the purposes of populating our little fairy tale filled world.

you do raise a good point, it will be hard to get things moving overly far in Storybrook without Emma, Regina, and Henry. (Do keep this in mind folks).

I am so in. I love this show it's brought meaning back to my Sundays. Foxy you stole my favorite character. So in light of Belle being taken I would like to request Nova/Astrid and Jefferson.

Sweet! I'm excited. Already beginning to cook up some ideas. I'll write up a character profile for Robin Hood soon too.

As for the characters that aren't yet taken, will we just play them as NPCs? For example, if the situation presents itself where our characters must interact with a character that is not yet taken, are we allowed to have temporary control over that character? Or should we just avoid them altogether as if they don't exist?

Temporary control is fine by me. There are certain folks that will be impossible to avoid if we're to move the story along so, it's likely for the best.
