Rachel walked with her, much more relaxed than last time.
"It's a nice little town," she commented as they walked. "I don't think it felt that way last time." |
"No. Last time it felt more like a creepy little place with way too many eyes," Tina murmured. "Now it feels much more... relaxed."
|
"Yeah," Rachel replied. She sighed a bit. "I like it more now."
|
Tina nodded her agreement, smiling a little as she looked around. "Well, maybe we can stay longer this time."
|
"I don't see why we can't," Rachel ventured. "A few extra days wouldn't hurt, would it?"
|
"Not as far as I'm concerned." Tina shrugged.
"So, where do we want to go first? Since we've decided we'll be here a bit." |
Rachel shrugged.
"Doesn't matter much to me," she replied. "Although I'm still not too keen on the creepy pawnshop." |
Tina snorted. "I figured not. Well, how about we just walk around town for a bit? See if either of us has a particular desire to do something while we walk?"
|
"Sounds good to me," Rachel replied. She put her hands into her pockets and kept an easy pace with Tina. As she glanced around, she blinked. "Hey, it's that kid from before."
|
Tina blinked as she looked over at him. "Oh yeah. Huh."
Henry grinned at them and waved. He knew they still didn't remember, but they were back, so he figured they had to be getting closer to their memories. |
Rachel raised an eyebrow slightly, but waved back. Hey, he was a little weird, but that didn't mean that she couldn't be courteous.
"You know, kids tend to be more honest than adults, a lot of times," she mused quietly to Tina. "Maybe he's heard something about why we got so many stares and whispers last time?" |
Tina paused to consider that, her eyes narrowing just a little.
"Hmm. Perhaps," she murmured, looking at him. "Think we should go talk to him, just in case?" |
"I want to see if he comes to us, first," Rachel said. "He did before. Maybe wait a couple minutes."
|
It turned out they didn't even have to wait that long. Henry headed over to them after only a minute, grinning at them.
"You came back!" |
"We did," Rachel replied. "Figured the town was worth a second look." She grinned a bit.
|
Henry grinned broadly at that. "Yeah. Hey, you guys want a tour of the town?"
|
Rachel blinked.
"How much more is there to see?" she asked. "We wandered around last time." |
Henry shrugged. "I could show you city hall," he said. "And you could come meet a couple people!"
Tina exchange an amused look with Rachel. This kid was so enthusiastic it was kind of funny. |
Oh yeah, the kid was enthusiastic, no doubt about that.
"I guess that's not a bad idea," she said. "Although we haven't exactly introduced ourselves. I'm Rachel Towers." |
"Tina Kole."
"I'm Henry." He grinned at them and started walking, heading towards Snow and James's place. "So are you planning on staying longer this time?" |
"A few days, at least," Rachel said, glancing at Tina to confirm. "We wanted to give this place another chance, since our last visit was... a bit weird."
|
Henry nodded. "Well, no one was expecting you," he said reasonably. "I bet this trip will be better." Because he was sure that the curse was starting to wear thin for them.
|
That made Rachel pause.
"Nobody was expecting us this time, either," she pointed out. "We weren't expecting us this time." Which raised the question of why people were acting different now. |
Henry shrugged. "Maybe they just got more used to the idea of having new people around," he suggested with a little smile. Mainly because James and Snow had made everyone aware, but even so.
|
"Maybe," Rachel mused. So people had been wary last time for lack of visitors? She supposed it made sense...
