"Alright." Tina settled back with a little sigh, trying to rest again.
"Sleep," Gold said softly, leaning down to kiss her forehead gently.
Tina grumbled a bit at him but settled down to sleep anyway. She figured she might as well.
Once he was sure she was asleep, Gold went back down to his workshop for a while. He would check on her again soon.
Tina woke a few hours later to revisit the bathroom and then flop back in bed. This was absolutely miserable, and she couldn't figure out why she was sick.
When Tina didn't feel any better the next day, Gold put a few herbs together into something that would settle her stomach some. Even thought it helped in the short-term, he found he had to keep making it every few days, which didn't do anything to ease his worry about her. Teaching Emma and Henry proved to be a sufficient distraction, however.
It took Tina a few weeks to start feeling better. Of course, after a few weeks had gone by, she noticed that she was a few weeks late for something important.
And after more checking and math and calculations, Tina sat down on the bathroom floor, not quite hyperventilating. |
Taking a break in between Henry's lesson and Emma's, Gold went upstairs to check on Tina. When he found her in the bathroom, he was concerned.
"Tina?" he asked, going over to her. "What's wrong?" |
"I..." Tina looked at him, her eyes wide. "I think I figured out why I've been sick." Her voice was kind of faint.
"You're very pale," Gold said. Getting up, he got her a glass of water and handed it to her. "Drink. Then tell me what is going on."
Tina took the water and drank slowly, trying to get herself under control. She looked at him for a few long moments before trying to speak.
"I... I think I might be..." She couldn't even say it. |
"You think you're what?" Gold asked. "I can't read minds, dearie, although I'm sure some would claim otherwise." He put an arm around her and pulled her close. "Tell me what's wrong."
Tina swallowed and shifted so she was curled into his chest.
"Pregnant," she mumbled. |
That made Gold freeze.
"Come again, dearie?" he said softly, trying to process that. |
Tina just made a whimpering noise and hid her face. Because she really couldn't say it again so soon.
Gold just held her, working through that staggering piece of information.
"Are you alright?" he finally asked her softly. "There are a few options, but I need to know what you feel, first." Because even though part of him was absolutely elated, he was more worried about her, first. |
"I... don't really know. I'm still thinking about it." Tina shook her head a little bit. She was still trying to get over the fact that she was pregnant without freaking out again.
Gold nodded and just held her, letting her sort through things. Emma's lesson could wait a little while longer.
Tina stayed there for a little while, trying to figure out how she felt about all this.
"You should go make sure Emma doesn't get into trouble," she said after a few minutes. |
"Are you sure?" Gold asked. "I'd rather not leave you alone if you would rather the company."
Tina shook her head a bit. "I think I'll just lay down for a while," she said, still rather faint. "Go ahead, I'll be okay, I'll yell if I need anything."
Gold hesitated slightly, but nodded.
"Alright," he said, reluctantly letting her go. "But let me know the moment you need something." |
"I will." Tina got up carefully and headed back into the bedroom so she could lay down for a bit. "Go try not to terrorize Emma too much."
"No more than usual," Gold promised. Once he was sure she was settled in, he reluctantly headed back downstairs.
Tina managed to work herself out, mostly, by the time he was done with Emma. Then she headed downstairs to make some tea, still a little pale but calmer.
