"That sounds lovely," Gold replied as he followed her to the kitchen. He knew Rachel was waiting in the kitchen and briefly considered just getting dinner and excusing himself, but he got the feeling that Tina wouldn't allow it. So he would put up with a 'group' meal.
Tina went and got a bowl of soup, handing it over to Rachel.
"You still have that jar in here?" she asked with a knowing little grin. No better way to cheer Gold up than a jar of new ingredients. |
Rachel had to think about it for a moment.
"I can," she said, grinning. Holding out her hands, she gave a little tug with her magic, and the jar of scales appeared from its former place in her bag. "And here it is." She held it out to Gold, who raised an eyebrow. "And what, pray tell, is this?" he asked. Rachel grinned a bit more. "Dragon scales," she said. "I managed to get my hands on some, and I figure you can find a use for them more than I can." For once, Gold didn't have a reply for that. He just took the jar, slightly dumbfounded that anyone would just want to give him anything. |
Tina grinned smugly and got her own bowl before sitting at the table. "Maybe I shouldn't let you get him a dragon," she said. "He might just hole up in his workshop for days after that."
"No, I should definitely get you a dragon," Rachel said, grinning. "I just need to talk Killian into going back so I can find one."
Tina snickered. "I'll help bribe him with fresh fruits," she said, grinning. "I've got an orange tree, I'll give you lot oranges every time you make port."
"You know that'll actually probably work," Rachel said, snickering a bit.
"Oh I know." Tina grinned. "I know very well, I love it." Because she kind of loved that she could bribe the pirate with fruit.
"I'll talk to him about it when I go back," Rachel promised. She grinned a bit. "Then we'll have to convince the crew somehow."
Tina grinned. "I'm sure you'll figure something out, I can help bribe them too."
"Sounds like a plan," Rachel said, grinning.
Gold just let the two chat for a bit. He was already thinking of some things he could use dragon scales for, and he could see how pleased Tina was to have her friend around, so he wasn't about to ruin it. |
"So now we just have to figure out where to keep a dragon where it won't hurt my garden." Tina looked a little too smug, because she knew that this would actually work.
That brought Gold's attention back around.
"What?" he asked. "A dragon? When was this decided?" |
"With me bribing Killian to get us one," Tina said with a playful grin. "So you could have more than the occasional jar of scales."
Gold raised an eyebrow.
"Dragons are notoriously difficult to keep," he pointed out. Somehow, he got the feeling that that wouldn't matter, and resigned himself to preparing a space for a dragon. |
"It's a good thing we're both notoriously stubborn then, isn't it?" Tina smiled at him, because she knew exactly what he was thinking, and approved.
"Indeed," Gold said. Bother. That meant he would need to find some way to compensate the pirate for going to retrieve a dragon egg. Hook would likely agree just at Rachel's request, of course, but it wouldn't hurt to remind the pirate who she was asking for.
Tina just smiled at his inner grumblings and shot Rachel a grin. Because this was a kind of entertainment all its own.
Rachel returned the grin. It was great entertainment, though she wouldn't tell anyone about it, aside from Killian.
After cleaning up from dinner, Tina looked at Rachel. "So, how long are you staying? I know your pirate doesn't like you to stay more than a few days, unfortunately."
"It's not that he doesn't like it," Rachel said. "I just don't want to make him worry if I'm gone more than that long. I wasn't planning to stay more than two days or so." She looked at Tina. "That's not a problem, is it?"
"No, not at all, there are plenty of guest rooms and no shortage of food and goodies for you to take back with you whenever you leave." Tina grinned.
"Awesome," Rachel said, grinning. "Then in a couple days I'll head back, and I'll see what I can do to convince Killian we should go back and grab a dragon egg."
"Sounds good to me." Tina grinned at that. "Want me to make some tea or do you want to just go settle in? It's up to you."
"Tea sounds good, as long as you feel up to it," Rachel replied. "Or I can make the tea, I still remember how to make it."
